Maybe, maybe not. I imagine he'll want to finish his degree. He'll have two years of eligibility left and if his draft grade comes back moderate-to-low it's hard to imagine him not using at least one of those years to finish his degree and improve his draft stock.

Right now I think he's playing at a 4th-5th round draft pick level but only getting better. Could be a second rounder by the end of the year. All I will say is that if he does go pro we look pretty stupid for not targeting another NG type player in the past class or this current one.

Jones?

The BMOC surveys the midseason with best players and coaches, surprises and flops - ESPN

7. Quote of the half season
The finalists:

--"I would guess that if you were a red-blooded American man, you'd like to play today. I'm guessing we'll play well."
LSU coach Les Miles to CBS's Tracy Wolfson shortly before the Tigers played (and lost to) Florida in the Swamp.

--"I'm so excited, I'm ready to call my mama."
Notre Dame nose tackle Louis Nix after overtime win against Stanford.

--"&*@%!" (Rhymes with singular Oregon mascot.)
Stanford linebacker Chase Thomas as he walked angrily up the stadium tunnel after a controversial Notre Dame goal-line stand cost the Cardinal the game in overtime.

--"We kind of got basically humbled today."
USC linebacker Hayes Pullard (to the Los Angeles Times) after the Trojans' loss at Stanford, their fourth consecutive defeat to the Cardinal.

--"In retrospect, we probably bit off a bit more than we could chew. … I think embarrassment lasts a lot longer than $860,000."
Savannah State coach Steve Davenport on his athletic director's decision to schedule consecutive road games at Oklahoma State and Florida State for $860,000 of appearance money. Savannah State lost by a combined score of 139-0 -- and it would have been worse had the FSU game not been called with 24 minutes remaining in the second half because of thunderstorms.

And the half-season winner is … The red-blooded American Hatter.

Great stuff. I love Nix.

Guy does not commit to a coachless ND to leave before getting his degree. Absolutely no way he leaves this year, almost less of a chance he stays for a fifth year.

Currently in the hospital getting an x-ray on his shoulder. No word on severity of the injury, whether it's precautionary, etc.

This is not good.

Update: sighted in the dorms, walking fine, no visible sling or injury... still nervous. If he's even banged up it could have a major impact on our ability to get pressure with just 3 or 4.

He was just interviewed by all the media an hour ago and nothing was said. Where is this coming from?

Where did you hear this, chub? This isn't something you bring up without having solid intel on. Next time, if you get info like this, fact check it first. That, or give us the heads up on how you got the info.

I have a friend who tutors him. Lou texted him today because he missed the tutoring session saying he was in the hospital getting an xray on his shoulder. Sorry to cause a hubbub, he looks ok, but this seemed the place to find other people with possible info.

That is a little scary... why would your friend lie? Hope Lou is okay. Do you trust this friend?

That would be the best case scenario for the football team no doubt. I trust the kid but I'm hoping he's confused... lol the whole story seems a little thin when you look back at it doesn't it??

A buddy of mine watched his first ND game of the year yesterday and he texted me 5 times about Nix. Said that Nix is a Vince Wilfork clone and that he'll be surprised if Nix isn't in the first round discussion at the end of the year. I agree about the Wilfork comparison...although I sure as hell hope that Nix is around next year!
