18 commits and 15 spots. You know they have a few more in the hopper too. Not a lot of room on the bus and Kiffy isn't afraid to cut people loose.

Conversely, what happens if USC loses to ND and Oregon regular season, lose Pac 10 championship and then lose a bowl game? Those f-ers implode and what would you do as 4 and 5 star recruits?

3 will be EE . Fans put way too much stock in winning and losing games and how much recruits care. They are staying unless Lane cuts them

I definitely agree re: Hawkins, but not positive re: Redfield as well, since he did convince one of the BGI guys that he has legit interest (Biggers, I think).

And in general, I think we probably do put too much stock in win/loss regarding specific recruits ... that works as a very general rule (if you are a winning program, you'll have more interested kids to choose from) but with regard to sealing the deal with any particular recruit its always more complex than that.

As Allgator pointed out 3 are EE's. There's a myriad of posts on this topic RDU.. I'm not at all squeamish of hating on U$C and Lame Kiffy, but let's be informed so we can really drive it home.

If they lose to Oregon x2 + ND + another team like UCLA this class WILL NOT stay together as presently assembled. Lane Kiffin is the Wizard of Oz... once the curtain is pulled back, the power is quite diminished. Ed Orgeron is a straight up bully/salesman of incredible prowess.

You think some of these kids outside of California won't consider the top dogs from the SEC, etc. if USC goes 8-5? Winning matters. The past two classes for USC were quite marginal compared to this one because Lane wasn't winning. These kids signed up for a team that was supposed to be the best in country... if he loses with Barkley, Woods, Lee, etc. no one is going to believe he can get the job done.

If USC goes 8-5 the recruits will think they are just the guys to turn around the program. Notre Dame went 8-5 last year how is the class this year? Those Cali players are not going to the SEC if USC starts losing games.

Peopla also said kids would not go to USC because of the sanctions but the kids just saw more early playing time.

Youre example of our record last year is actually perfect for what Lax is saying. You are just using it the wrong way.

Last year, we had a top ten recruiting class and we were pitching being a BCS caliber team. However, when we started to lose, recruits started to wander and a few left.

FSU has not lived up to expectations the last few year and has been bringing in top classes in the country.

Florida Texas Miami Texas A & M all didnt live up to expectations last year and brought in top classes

Didnt you lose a player because of twitter and track? And another one went crazy and chose Houston?

Ill give you Yuri Wright and Deontay Greenbury and their "reasons," but Ronald Darby with track is not a good enough excuse if you ask me. Dang, now you got me upset thinking of what could have been last year. :(

Could have had 2 Elite corners, 1 very good corner, and 1 very good WR.

You're assuming that the recruiting situation is the same at most of those universities. It's not. Most kids who commit to Florida, Miami, and Texas A&M commit locally or a short drive away. That means that even when there is a disappointing season, there are enough fans around to help them feel positively about the team and they're a short drive from the campus. ND doesn't work this way. We get one shot to get a kid on campus and let him know what we're about. Often we send that kid right back into the arms of the local fan base. It's really hard to justify to your friends in high school (who all root for the local team) why you're going to go so far away from home (and parents), leaving the local favorite, and (oftentimes) not following in the footsteps of the old high school's heros. It's exponentially more difficult for a kid to do that when the team that they are doing this for is telling you they're BCS bound, and lose to USF in the first week.

Florida can have a disappointing season, and the Florida kids will still go to Florida. Texas is the same way as is USC. But it has been shown that ND rolls in wins, and then recruits, in that order.

Plus, these little things called academics and arrest records matter much more at ND than at Florida. If a kid waivers or decommits, it's not like the coaches can just add another kid from wherever. Florida (and other schools) get 99% of their players for one reason, and one reason only-- footbaw. ND very often gets kids for reasons besides football.

You actually just supported ALLGATOR's argument. He was saying particularly because USC recruits so many recruits from California even if they have a mediocre record, they will keep their recruits.

I agree with his argument about USC. But his example of ND was out of place, so I thought I'd say so and why. I've been trying to print pamphlets to explain my posts but the line at kinkos is always a mile long.

Yes, after bumping the USC recruiting thread and scanning quickly, it seems they are one over if you include Silas Redd. Granted there were no updates or responses to my questions there that ask if Redd counts since Penn State transfers were not going to count against acquiring school schollie counts by my recollection.

You are exactly right, there are myriad (not "a myriad of") posts on this topic, however the holding pen for this topic has unanswered questions.

USC recruits can't be so dumb to ignore the issues I raise

1) Kiffy will screw you over in a heart beat.
2) Girls Gone Wild Bus is full, if not past capacity, and Kiffy is still whistling at passers by and sizing them up for potential trade ups.
3) Implosion is very possible which increases the chances of defectors

I will raise another issue - If the bus is almost full, wouldn't you reserve a seat while you explore your options?

Uhhhhhhhh..... my point is about the multitude of great players OUTSIDE of Cali....... in fact that is specifically what I said in my post as to why it wouldn't stay together as presently assembled. Did you even actually read what I wrote? Using 247 composite...

Their top 2 players aren't from CA... neither are 4 of the top 6. One is from Maryland, one is from Washington. Then you have Jalen Ramsey from TN who has HEAVY SEC interest as their #5 player and Ty Isaac from IL who had interest in both the midwest and elsewhere.

4 of the remaining 12 players are also from outside of California... with 2 of them being from Texas (where there are a myriad of good schools who could potentially make a move if USC falters as I said) and 1 from Kentucky and another from Maryland.

Overall, 8 of the 18 or 44% of their class is from outside of California... so my statement about their class not holding together because of said kids outside of Cali having interest/options elsewhere could not be more true... all of this is predicated on USC going 8-5 or worse though and that simply won't happen.

My bad I just scanned your post quickly the first time. And just made an assumptions since we were talking about the Cali commits.

The QB is not going anywhere from Cali or not. The Eastern Christian kids are staying as well. I could see Ramsey Hatcher or Prevot decommitting if the right situation presented itself. Massington is injured and is going to USC unless they cut him.

10 of 18 are from California.

WA, TN , IL, KY, TX x 2, MD x 2

I'll take my longer response to the USC Recruiting thread but that is 8 guys from WAY out of town. Redfield and Hawkins are CA guys FWIW.

I'm not sure I agree. I would imagine there are some that see what Kiffen does, but thinks he would never do that to them.

Loved the fan support during the game, loved the academic presentation, loved the coaches and how they didn't pressure him to decommit but made him feel wanted, loves the style of play of the defense, could see himself playing with the guys on the team. He is still committed to SC, but "has a lot to think about" moving forward.
