Those of you going to the game: Be polite and show respect to the BYU fans. Be helpful if some seem to be in need of directions or suggestions. Offer to take the photo of groups posing in front of the Dome, library, grotto, etc. so that they can all be in the shot.

After the game let the BYU fans know it was a good game, regardless of the outcome. Let them know that is was a pleasure to have them come to the game and visit the campus. Tell them that you hope they enjoyed their visit.

Be ambassadors of good will. Be classy!

(These requests don't apply to Hooligans from UM, USC, etc.)

Completely agree!

I've never met a Mormon who wasn't unbelievably polite, so there's no reason in the world to be rude to them.

(Take the rudeness that you would give to BYU, and give it to those f*ckers from Michigan)

This is exactly the reputation we've heard about and it makes me excited to visit a campus like yours.

(And don't worry, we reserve our rudeness for the Utes)

What are your thoughts on BYU's game last night? Here are mine:

1) BYU's offense is greatly improved. They have two VERY capable QB's and two pretty good WR's. They will be able to score on us.

2) Despite Leach's presence, WSU is still a very untalented team. They looked better than what they were last year, but they still suck. BYU should have been able to beat them by more than they did. Leach will get this team going though. He will just need a little time.

3) We should be able to handle BYU, but I do think that they are an improved team. The fact that WSU is so bad makes it hard to really evaluate BYU though.

Yea, WSU is awful and it seemed like BYU started slow, gained traction and won a game they should have.

On paper we win but it sets up as a trap game following a physical matchup with Stanford and preceding a huge test in Norman.. They are absolutely capable of beating us.

Vanquish The Foe - For BYU Cougars Fans
The writer over here is a little too excited though..
Claim: BYU's 2012 defense will be great.

As I noted above, BYU's prevented a supposedly prolific offense from gaining a single touchdown, and a number of Washington State's yards, including many of those that led to two field goals, resulted from BYU penalties. The secondary in particular held up well against an attack designed to stretch the field vertically, and BYU's defense forced two turnovers. Tonight's effort was more than enough. This defense appears to be capable of doing great things. Rating: true.

It's funny how he makes this statement and then rates it "true", as if that would seal the deal in anyone teetering.

Not much to add. Thought their running attack was decent although the stats don't necessarily back that up. I could see BYU being a one loss team when we play them

.

I see this all coming down to our corners, safeties. They don't have two guys together who can move Lou...tackle to tackle running game not going to be productive for them. Manti does pretty well sideline to sideline. I don't think they'll have alot of time to drop back and look around...so whats that leave...I see short range routes...passing game like a running game...lots of bubble screens, middle screens, quick slants, quick outs...overloads to stress our new guys...we should be ready.

.

Sounded like they had some speed...ability to run by some people...hadn't really seen that from them in a while...thats positive

agreed...some folks on the mother ship picked this as their upset special...probably feeling a little silly beecause it wasn't close by sounds of it...BYU, and previously UTAH always had some left in the tank (SoS benefit) to put a beatin' on a giant...I hope we are not flat, and I hope we do not turn it over, and I hope we get up a couple TDs early. This will be like a mid year bowl for these guys...

BYU's defense looks terrific, the offense looks pathetic.

Boise State just had a 1st and Goal on the 1....and didn't score.

This game worries me a lot less after viewing this game.

Agreed. As I said on the sports book thread for this game, our front will terrorize Riley all night.

Also I think we can run the ball with relative ease against BYU.

I'm thinking these guys lose to Oregon State and get creamed by ND and Georgia Tech. Their defense is alright. Their O sucks eggs.

Yeah I think they'll finish 6-6 with losses to Utah State, Oregon State, Notre Dame, and Georgia Tech among their two current losses.

They look like an above average team, but that's not a good team.

been saying BYU is overrated for awhile now. Their defense is decent, but Boise State's offense was just terrible, I didnt know who the QB was throwing to half the time.

Not a very fun game to watch until the last BYU drive... Very surprised that they went for 2pt. conversion and the win.

5 Turnovers and they only lost 7-6 on a tipped 2 pt conversion against the #24th ranked team on the road.

They're won't be confused with Alabama but they're not Savannah St either.

Sagarin has BYU ranked as his #24 team with BSU at #19. By comparison Sagarin has MSU#29, PU #33, and UM #35.

Sagarin had BSU as a 7.5 pt favorite. They'll drop with the loss but not by much.

One of the ugliest games I watched this year.

i actually turned it off and watched the giants continue to kill the panthers...i would watch ncaa anytime over nfl but it was terrible...NO WAY should BSU be ranked!!! they looked on offense how we did in clausen's first year

If Riley even plays. That frosh QB they put in gave BYU some spark in the 4th quarter. He does like to take off and run, too. He may want to reconsider that at ND after his first collision with a certain Hawaiian gentlemen I know.

Watched the replay of the Utah game. Utah should have had about half a dozen interceptions that they flat out dropped. BYU's QB's have the passing skills of Denard Robinson along with less speed and play making ability when the do run. Our defense should manhandle them.

Really? We go the subtle polygamy route on the Mormons?

That's really, really fukked up. I regard the religion as borderline insanity, but to continue to accuse the religion of being polygamists is pretty distasteful.

I'm thinking that the ND-BYU pregame hours set a record for the nicest interaction between opposing fans ever.

Agreed. Turn it around; how would most of us feel if BYU made a shirt that had a suggestive graphic of a priest and a little boy?

wow... yeah, that is pretty bad.

Yeah, and bad enough that this is overboard with respect to the visiting team, but several members of the Notre Dame team are LDS.

well, priests and little boys were never accepted by the religion. Polygamy was accepted by Mormons and is simply a stereotype... you cant call priests and little boys a stereotype of Catholics. It would be the equivalent of saying a stereotype of Muslims is terrorism (which we all know is false).

I dont really mind the shirt, sure it is a stereotype, but polygamy was accepted by the mormon community. A good one for Catholics (I am Catholic myself) would be something about communion or lack of female priests or something... (its hard to look at your own religion in a negative stereotypical way). :p

I am just saying the shirt isnt that offensive and you guys are over-reacting a little bit. Catholics take jokes all the time, I am pretty sure they can handle it.

That seems like a pretty fine distinction to me. For virtually all the Mormons I know, polygamy is an unfortunate part of the sect's history that critics unfairly use to misrepresent the modern church. Many Catholics view the sexual abuse scandals in exactly the same light.

BYU to play freshman QB Hill against Hawaii if Nelson's back still bad - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com News, Scores, Stats, Schedule and BCS Rankings

CBSSports.com wire reports
Sep. 25, 2012
PROVO, Utah -- After raving about the past success of BYU senior quarterbacks, the Cougars very well could start a freshman against a Norm Chow-coached Hawaii team Friday.
Senior Riley Nelson acknowledges the pain of an unspecified back injury has been problematic both mentally and physically in stinging back-to-back losses to Utah and No. 24 Boise State.
BYU coaches say they likely will decide by Wednesday whether to go with Nelson or freshman Taysom Hill against Hawaii (1-2) but won't announce their starter until game time.
In a 7-6 loss to Boise State, the Cougars (2-2) were held to 61 yards passing - their lowest total since a 3-0 loss to Utah in 2003. Hill replaced the mistake-prone Nelson and engineered a 95-yard TD drive but saw his two-point conversion pass tipped away.
