Bennett has that kind of footwork? You're kidding me. Props to him if he does.

I will not predict much this year, but I will say this: The loss of DGb (plus Neal), Decker, and Darby, (A whole stable of Corners, Jackson, Wood, Brown, Atkinson, etc.), with Tee, will leave ND just fine. It was more important not to lose any safeties or running backs . . . You get the point.

Kelly has a lot of faith in his athleticism, I think it will work out. Wonder though why he didn't just move him to corner... Decent amount of talent at safety already. Crazy that were at this point, shifting players positions to fill depth.

He is moving back to his originally intended position as he was moved to WR last year to provide depth. Even if we were moving him for depth though, I prefer that than moving players because of necessity to start immediately (Travis Thomas).

Now the back-up FS.

Eric Hansen ‏@hansenNDInsider
Freshman Nicky Baratti moves up to No. 2 on the #NotreDame depth chart at strong safety. Soph. Matthias Farley is backup at free safety.

I can't believe there isn't more talk about this kid. He practically played the whole game Saturday. He is going to be a really good player by the time he leaves here.

Has played decent thus far just needs that one big play/game to make the casual fan say "Wow! Who is this guy!"

I noticed while was on field waiting for the media timeout to end, he was doing the arm motions along with the student section to the Celtic chant. Funny kid.

That is just the thing, the "casual" fan doesn't know this kid has only played football for what, 3 years now. Pretty amazing.

Credit the staff for player development and the young man for taking coaching and working hard. Good luck to him over the next few years.

I am thinking: The people who's threads blow up are usually the recipient of negvibe. This kid has style, and is nothing but riding a crest of positive energy. Here is a kid that played for three years in high school, Kelly found him like in nowhere, no recruiting service had a clue, and then Kelly's staff found him the right position.

All that is left is to do the arm motions of the Celtic chant. I agree NDFANSW! Kinda like Harrison. Just think of the advantage MF has back there with Elliot, for four years!

Hey, maybe he will end up a big MF! Get it!

With a beard and cannon fuses lit in them. Talk about as intimidating as Blackbeard!

Blackbead - North Carolina legend! Farley and Moore should be all over it then. My son did a presentation last year on him in second grade (Blackbeard, not Farley - although I would love to work some ND into his school work)

Reps to defense dreads - especially for the Giant Squirrel!

For me this kid has been the biggest surprise of the '12 season so far. Feels like he came out of nowhere. Well done Sir! Keep it up, they are going to need you!!!

The flexibility Springman allows with Nix and Schwenke dropping into a four man front instantly, and being able to maintain a high quality of play is d@mn near priceless!

Don't forget that his play could help preserve a year for both jarron jones and chase. Important from a depth perspective 2 years from now.

When Matthias came to school Kelly said that although he was raw at football development, he was the most body-ready player at his position in that class. Farley's a physical stud and has been for a while. He came in as a receiver/DB work-in-progress. Glad to see that he's found his destiny.

Thought this young man's thread deserved a bump after a really solid performance on a really big stage. This kid played great football against a really good team. So impressed with his calm.

He played very well- did give me a scare on the hit, could of been called hitting a defenselessness player (heals my breadth for a few).
