Just lost any, and all credibility with me.
CFL on ESPN right now talking about Bill O'Brien and how he could do a good job. Subject turns to George O'Leary and he feels he has the same character and class as him.
Sorry Herbie...

Top players, coaches, teams honored in Herbie Awards - ESPN

I lose a little more respect for him each year around this time, and since he started near zero respect anyway (mainly because he has the worst ability to predict anything and still has a preseason awards show), he's now in the negative.

Herbstreit is another one of the ESPN clowns who simply says things to get people riled up and get them paying attention. Look what he's doing to us now!

Up until a couple years ago I really thought he was unbiased in his reporting. He may still be the most tolerable among the ESPN reporters. So many of them have their own agendas and favor the teams that will promote their success.

Whatever, it's still sports and I'd rather be watching that than 90% of the rest of the crap that's on TV.

ESPN loses more credibility every year. I have a hard time watching Gameday because Corso has become nothing more than a clown and I hate Desmond Howard.

The problem with ESPN, particularly CFL, is they don't seem to do their homework very well. The script writers seem to just do Google searches for the day's news then just type it up for the analysts.

All to often what you hear them say on CFL is stuff already posted here with nothing added. Either IE is really good (yea) or CFL is just filling minutes.

Herbrstriet is probably the last credible voice ESPN has. If you can't respect him than perhaps your personal bias is showing. He does a solid job, and for ESPN standards, that says a lot.

I agree. I actually don't think he is that bad. He has been more then fair about ND the past few years. Time for Corso to go IMO. Fowler does a great job.

Another irrelevant ESPN mouth
I find it amusing that they put soooo much effort into discovering the obvious. How hard can it be to tell us who's going to be good with the way college football has come down to the haves (minor league pro football) and the have nots (college guys going to school and hoping for a pro carrer while getting educated). Herbie is an appropriate name for this company man. By the way see his eyes light up when he comments on his alma mater-he knows they're back in the saddle. I must be truthfull and a little jealous that Notre Dame wont play the game.

People started turning on Herby when he said ND's D resembled a high school team. Guess what ND got embarrassed for around 600yards by Navy, they should have been called out. Truth hurts.

I don't mind him usually, but if he went missing, I wouldn't go looking for him.

I think before last season, he predicted an 8-4/9-3 season.

While we're bagging on ESPN, I admit that I hate the Holtz vs. May carnival. It's awkward and irritating. It is like ESPN does it on purpose.

Herbstreit is still one of the best in the business. Problem is, you're never going to please everyone, and in this day and age, any LITTLE perceived slight and it's on a message board instantaneously. So everyone hates everyone on TV basically. It's stupid.

All I can say is that before I got married and bought a house a few years ago, I used to love to gamble, and Herbie made me and my buddies a lot of money. Dude knows what he's talking about, and without talking about the spread, he sure does give hints on who to take. So even when I disagree with him, he's still OK in my book...

Are you saying that you want ND to cheat?

Exactly.

It's funny that Notre Dame fans think that ESPN is biased against us. Every non-Notre Dame fan I've ever talked to thinks that ESPN is totally biased for us. We've been disappointing in the last two decades more times than not. I'm still here...I'm still a fan...I'm still rooting hard. I believe this thing is turning around. But, you know what? Mark May has been right about us more often than Lou.

...my beef with herbie...there was no need to go there (HS Football), and he thought he was funny, until the ND fan base reacted...then he got all butt hurt, B!tchy, and sarcastic about it. Comment wasn't professional, and then he acted like a B!tch after he got rolled by the masses.

I just think there are too many other people who can do his job to be hung up on him. Its one thing to make a mistake...but lets face it, Herbie didn't trip and fall, and "High School Defense" came out as a result of the fall...he said it with malice, and to be funny...the only thing he was sorry for was having his a$$ handed to him. I got no time for people who intend to be a jerk, get overrun by the consequences, then whine like a little girl...I've put he and letterman on the scrap heap ...life is short, absolute forgiveness...that job is filled...so F$ck 'em.

..but hell yea if you gamble (I don't), and he's calling them right...ride his a$$ all the way to the bank.

was herbie the one who was swinging with his wife which led to all sorts of personal probelms for him and he had to subsequently move out of columbus oh citing the osu fanbse as the reason rather than the real reason being his (then) wife was done with him? or do i have the wrong broadcaster?

Thats because every college football fan thinks ESPN is biased against whatever team he roots for and somehow they believe ESPN loves their rivals. Not to sound like a hypocrite...but I feel justified when I say that ESPN was all over USC's nuts 3-5 years ago and I knew U$C fans that felt like ESPN hated them.

Outside of Lou, I haven't seen a lot of love from ESPN towards the Irish, especially after the Rick Reilly article. I always kind of felt like Forde had it out for us too.

That's exactly my point.

Most people I talk to who are anti-ND think that the coverage is out of proportion to the production on the field. That's where they see the bias.

I'm not bagging on him for any slight against ND. I'm bagging on him because his Herbies are a joke. If you want to go bet on FSU beating USC for the championship go ahead. I'm going to say USC would beat FSU by 30 any day, especially in the championship.

Although he does like to short change Teo year after year...

He's whatever, but the Herbies? That is a terrible name and I'm glad we didn't "catch" any of those awards this year.
