Certainly better news than what was posted a few posts up the thread. Here's hoping for the best.

DD has a thread stating Carrico's foot injury hasn't healed properly. Football career is over. I can't find anything to confirm. Anybody heard anything?

This is why football factory SEC schools are a bad choice for STUDENT-athletes.

Hoping and praying for the best for Brad.

Well, SEC schools kick kids off of the team and onto medical scholarships all the time.

If Nick Saban thinks you stink after you get to Bama, you're still likely to get a full ride for the four years. You just can't play football for him anymore because of an "injury".

Don't know where that rumor came from but Brad has said that is timeframe is 6-8 months. A long road certainly but not career ending.

Brads career is suspect at best right now. He had a tendon growing between the bones in his foot which made it very hard to just walk let alone run/play ball on it, bones grinding together so cant imagine it was a good feeling lol. He was held out of contact all spring and just was an extra body while they debated on whether he got the surgery. Hopefully he is able to comeback bc he provides depth and just a big *** body we can throw in there.

Not that this should come as a surprise to anyone but he is officially done and on a medical scholarship.

He is the perfect reason why you choose a school not based just on football.

That's so sad, I hate that for him. You couldn't be more right about choosing a school brotha. It will definetly pay off for Brad in the end.

This really, really sucks for him. I remember when the doctors told me I was done. It's not easy.

But suddenly the Irish can take another recruit for 2013? When will we know about Roberson?

Not to make light of the situation with Brad Carrico being on a medical scholarship, but it doesn't count towards the 85 total at #NotreDame

Best Wishes Brad

Really sorry for you, big man. You were one of our first and most loyal commitments in your year. Blessings. I'm sure that the guys will always consider you a teammate.

I really feel for him. He is a great young man that did embrace the situation he was in. Tough break for a kid that worked his *** off, and was essentially the first of the Kelly era. Kid is smart, and was making adjustments last spring to set himself up to take advantage of the educational part of Notre Dame.

This really sucks! When he started the blue gold game as an EE, I said he is going to be a og in the nfl. He will do well in life with that nd degree.

Can't say enough how bad I feel for him. It's so sad when a dream is swept out from under you. That being said the fact that this kid chose ND shows that he will be very successful in life. It takes a special person just to be a student here let alone pull double duty. Wishing you all the best Mr. Carrico!

Explain to me how the medical hardship works? Is he able to go to team functions or travel with the team?

No. He's removed from the team permanently, but he stays on scholarship. It effectively transforms his football scholarship into an academic one.
