My imagination was wandering . . .

My imagination was wandering . . .

You know what I want?

I want to sit down with the guy who thinks this all up. If it is Kelly, fine; if it is an assistant, fine; if it is a Zurich, Gnome, that's okay too. Do you see the situation. Politically the boards are cleared. For the starter, the boards are cleared: who wouldn't respond with an effin heroic effort in this situation? Stepping up to help out the team and all? And then Purdue still cannot go off of the game tapes!

Easy to install too. O and D get the option work at the same time.

This one game suspension takes in all accounts for quarterback and linebacker too. Let's see Grace and Rasaba, Moore and Utupo. They can spell Fox.

My prediction: sports fans will see lots of option football from Dublin. Navy is particularly fukked because they don't have the corners to streak down the field with our receivers or the safetys to stay at home play cover then come across to help out the corners. Every play could be an option, but is it going to be a run or pass?

My final prediction is that we out option the Middie's.

I think this is easy for the fanbase to endorse because of the implications to the QB battle, but I am standing firm in my original thoughts.

If Michael Floyd is allowed to earn his way back into the week 1 lineup after a DUI conviction, I do not see how it is fair that Tommy and Carlo are punished more severely for a less severe misdemeanor crime.

I feel like this sends a bad message, but will go with whatever BK deems appropriate.

I have been thinking about this Wooly and the only thing I came up with is if Kelly told the team after Floyd's incident of a new disciplinary plan. First strike = 1 game suspension, Second strike = 2 game suspension plus community service. Then coaches past actions have no merit towards Tommy and Carlo as they knew the consequences well before hand.

Golson reminds me of a smaller more athletic Geno Smith. Golson can make all the throws on the field and is a game breaker on the ground. A past first quarterback that can run and run well. He will make TJ Jones, Eifert, and Goodman better as he will limit just staring down wide reciever and allowing ND to break the game more open. Combined with the potential 4 headed rushing attack and great o-line, this offense may improve their scoring output by a field goal or more.

Geno has to have Holgerson's gun pointed at his head to make him run, though --- VERY reluctant. I believe that Golson relishes an occasional run much more.

Geno is VERY good at reading coverages --- Everett's not there yet. Fingers crossed that he'll get it.

Geno is so in command that Holgerson will let him manage certain whole series.[when the Mountaineers go into Superfast mode]. Maybe Everett will get there someday --- long way to go on that one.

You're right. Since he is very new to the game, Golson will rely alot on his legs but once he gets it look out.

The point I was trying to make is I don't believe it fair to Golson to put so much pressure on him being he has only made ZERO starts and has had ZERO meaningful snaps.

I am 90% certain that Tommy Rees would quarterback us to a win against Navy. Navy is a perfect team NOT to confuse him, plus we will run the ball conventionally. So, "no", I'm not happy because it's not Tommy versus Navy --- he'd win.

I'm happy because I think that I know that our only fighting chance against a few teams on this schedule is getting an athletic playmaker functioning competently at the quarterback position. To give that a chance, playing an athletic playmaker early to get him accommodated and settled into the game is the only route which gives us the possibility.

I couldn't agree more.

Assuming Everett is the starter this year, what does everyone think for a good stat line for him? Here's my take:
1,900 yards passing
450 yards rushing and 4 rushing TDs
17 TDs
8 INTs

I'm thinking....
2,600 yds
18 td
9 int
400 rush yds
2 td

This year.

Yeah, I'm just a little skeptical on passing yards being that high, but otherwise we obviously agree. With the talented backfield, I see the offense trending towards about 60% run to 40% pass, with a good portion of the passes being your stereotypical spread offense short passes/screens, which will keep his yardage total down some.

Inside South Bend:

A close friend of mine attended a wedding in South Bend this past weekend where a number of Notre Dame football players were also in attendence. My friend stated that the consensus between the players that were there, was that Golson will be the starter for the Navy game. Now granted I think we all were hoping or assuming this, but atleast it's being confirmed now by some of the players on the team.

It is not that he is the starter, it is that when he starts, he is the dynamic athlete, and the offensive leader . . .

So...there was a rumor that Golson wasn't eligible to play this season, apparently. And apparently that rumor is false, according to Sapp. Not sure if that is what that one weird cryptic thread was getting at last night.

...that he's ineligible to play this season -- it's not true.

The same way that there are times during the recruiting season that rumors spread more often, the same can be said about the football season.

We appreciate when these are brought to our attention directly instead of the board, potentially causing unnecessary mass hysteria, so we could sort it out on our end.

Now that some things have come out over the last 24 hours or so, it would be nice if Loomis would come clarify which, if any, of those things are what he was talking about, or if he still thinks something is coming.

There was a thread started EARLY this morning saying he was ineligible. Thread lasted about 10 minutes and got deleted.

Don't know who the mod was that deleted it but Props!

(Edit: THE op on the thread mentioned wasn't Loomis but I don't remember who it was. Sorry)

Lou at BGI is like a fountain of info:

And yet another similarity to 1988 ... that year it was reported in early August on local news channel WSBT-TV that Irish quarterback Tony Rice would be academically ineligible for the upcoming season.
