Mom took him on the west coast visits

Dad took him to ND and the other schools on current trip.

Here's to hoping that Dad is providing a new perspective that Vernon wasn't focusing on when he was gushing about his USC visit.

Given his Dad's coaching/recruiting responsibilities, it would seem that if Dad didn't make it to USC for that visit, he won't be able to visit USC with Vernon until probably January after a bowl game. That might even be difficult if his Dad is busy recruiting.

The ONLY way he doesn't visit USC is if they are full...

That seems fairly likely, no? Will enough of Willis, Goodman, Redfield, and Luke commit early enough that USC would be full at DB? I know they don't all play the same positions too, but I don't know how USC wants to break down DBs for this cycle.

It really does sound like at this point that Willis and Goodman will be UCLA/LSU, and Luke to UT.

I knew that was the way it was trending, but I wasn't sure what the likelihoods were. Guess I'm looking for any reason to push VHIII here

Same thing Golden said earlier per rivals. ND only school he knows he will give an official too. Still thinks he ends up playing for pops.

His mother will also play a role in this. She wants to watch all her sons games. She can two step all the way to Raymond James Stadium they live on the same road.

But she wont be able to two step to Reno, Muncie, Philly, Louisville, and Cincinnati....(some of next year's away games)

At least if he came to ND, she could do an Irish Jig in the comfort of her living room and watch every game.

I seriously don't get excited about official visit plans any more. You just never know whether it indicates sincere interest in ND or sincere interest in taking a really fun trip on someone else's dime.

Not only the someone else's dime, but in the case of Notre Dame, they may just want to experience the ND gameday mystique and history one time and they get to do it while getting royal treatment. So, if you have an official visit that you may not use for the sake of actually vetting a contender school, they why not take in a once in a lifetime experience.

That's exactly how this thing smells to me.

Heres what I dont understand, we all get pissy when a recruit chooses another school, and ask "why them, when he could have chose ND??". Now this kid has visited ND on his dime and now wants to experience an OV and so much negativity. Who is to say that the kid comes here, experience the excitement of game day at Notre Dame and doesnt want to be a part of it. Another point is if he is just using it for a free trip, who cares? We would probably all want to take full advantage of the opportunities given to us if we were as gifted of an athlete as Vernon. Give the kid a break!

Oh, all good points, and I'm thrilled he's going to take an OV to ND. All I meant is that when a kid takes an OV, it doesn't necessarily mean he has legit interest. Some people act like the 5 OV schools are a kid's top 5, and that is often not true at all. I don't know what Vernon's interest in ND really is; all I'm saying is that the fact that he wants to OV to ND doesn't tell me that he has high interest (although he may).

agreed, notre dame getting FL prospects to take OV is a BIG deal.

we have a very high success rate (comparatively) of landing recruits who take OVs to ND.

Seems like Mr. Hargreaves is the key to Vernon's recruitment. If he appreciates and properly prioritizes the importance of degree value, then we may have a legitimate shot. If not, then proximity to home and his familiarity with USF probably leads him there.

There's the potential for a serious conflict of interest here. VHIII is obviously Skip Holtz's top CB target, but he's also the son of a member of his coaching staff. How much freedom will father and son really have in deciding to play elsewhere?

What I get out of the whole ND is the only for sure official visit is, he really liked what he saw, but was only there for a couple of hours, and wants to see it all. I think its a great that he wants to come back and see the rest of ND mystique, it can only help.

So, maybe AL will have some nice things to say that will inspire father and son to take a visit.

It would be great if he just posted this and didn't list a top 5.

I just spoke with 'pops' and I wouldn't expect to hear about VH3's top 5 for a little while longer. About an hour or so.

Newberg has known the Team Tampa boys for years. He is pretty close to the Hargreaves family.

Thanks, reps.

Where the eff is this top 5 though? I'm curious to know if we are still in contention for this guy. I doubt we are, but I'd like to know so I can stop hoping.
