#4 top defensive performer on Saturday at The Opening. Jaylon Smith and him were 1-2 for LBs

So is it too much to ask Alex to make his decision by 9am EST? I mean that is 6am PST in Oregon and I am sure they are up.......just get this over with.......I want to know. Visions of Alex and Jaylon wrecking people for 4 years are running thru my mind!!!

Today is the day! Alex will be a HUGE pickup for us. I'm assuming his commitment will be on TV and therefor not until ~9 PM.

I feel this is like the Noor Davis annoucement. We all know when it was so the anticipation was killing. This thread will be just like his with over 400 people watching it to see what the announcement is....crossing fingers it goes NDs way this time around.

And I'm sure he is announcing on TV. I think I read a tweet a lil bit ago that the production crew at The Opening needed to know that school so they can put their production together or something to that nature.

247 update said the school that he's choosing basically already knows. The smoke is too strong here for any of you guys to stress out before the announcement. He's Irish, boys.

Oh and his announcement time is based on how his 7 on 7 team is doing. If they lose, it will be earlier. If they make it to the championship, it will be during that game.

My directTV schedule shows the "Opening Day 3" coverage starting at 8:00 PM. Can't wait this should be fun to see! Yankee Game, ND huge commitment on nat'l TV, and True Blood-sounds like a good sunday night to me!

Is the Opening shown live at 8 pm or will we already know of Anzalone's decision before it's shown on tv?

I'm sure we will know right when he announces, whenever that is. Those who would actually like to see the announcement will assuredly have that opportunity when the coverage begins at 8.

I'm optimistic as well but I feel that someone needs to say it:

If we don't get him the meltdown will be nuclear around here. I'm a little afraid.

You're absolutely right. I was saying the same thing before Jaylon Smith committed

no it won't. It wasn't until recently that we even thought we had a chance with him. Plus we only need one more LB in this class with plenty left on the board. Will it suck if we lose him? Yup. But if there is a meltdown its totally unwarranted.

I don't know...obviously there's no right or wrong answer here, but if I were coach I'd be afraid that these type of discussions, once generally known, would hinder 2's and 3's from pushing themselves.

As unrealistic as it always sounds, I've always believed that the best "team" was always one where every single player believed there was some remote chance of playing, if they just worked/played well enough. But obviously I'm not a coach, so it may well be that being able to oversign recruits outweighs this team dynamic.

Where is Andy when we need him?

Hasn't stopped us before. Most of our meltdowns are totally unwarranted.

This is taped I believe, so shouldnt Alex be announcing his decision soon (like possibly now, unless his team wins). Although, we probably wont hear it because no one knew the announcements from yesterday until they happened last night on TV. I guess they keep it pretty secret.

You do it during the exit meetings with all returning players at the end of the season, on an individual basis. You're oalways going to have a bottom 4 or 5 on the roster. Discuss it with them at that time. You tell each of them that if they choose to transfer, the staff will help them find a place to transfer to.
You will always have a couple who decide to stay anyway and a couple who will move on. There is nothing wrong with this imho. Bob Knight did it every year and was as queaky clean as it gets.

I know everyone is saying don't melt down if he doesn't pick us. Well, I, for one, will melt down. Anyone else?
