FWIW, Wiltfong told Weinke that ND is looking to add two more LBs.

Also, expect recruiting to cool down a bit in terms of unofficial visits. He said coaches are beginning to schedule kids for official visits and as expected, the Michigan game appears to be the big one this year.

Notre Dame football recruiting: Mattingly commitment helps Irish reload at linebacker - southbendtribune.com

'and Wiltfong believes the Irish would like to add two more linebackers in the class currently being assembled. '

With 16 commits already and 21-22(?) spots we only have 5-6 more spots available. With one going to a punter that only gives us 4-5 left. I'd assume at at least 1 more LB, and hopefully 1 more CB. Maybe a WR and a DT?

At any rate there isn't a whole lot of room at the inn.

What if Anzalone commits (hopefully), what about Ebenezer and Muhammed? Would we have room for them?

I think at CB we are looking at now is elite/ near elite, and given our current CB situation we have to take them (if they want in).

Hopefully we can concentrate on some studs from here on out.

Being from Jersey and more specifically familiar with a few Don Bosco kids I hope we keep room for Muhammad and I've heard he does too...

I would like to see the commitments come like this:

Anzalone
LJ Moore
Alexander (this would put us at four CBs and I believe Kinlaw would be a flex between CB and S)
Muhammad
A stud receiver, I have nobody in mind because I'm not optimistic about Treadwell.
A punter

I think this many commitments this early gives the luxury of focusing on elite players

Stud receiver isn't looking good, so that is probably why they are working hard on Muhammed or Folston. Of course, if an RB committed and a stud WR still wanted in, I'm sure they would find a way to take one.

I have ready many times about taking this punter, but I haven't heard any names associated with it. Anyone know if they have someone targeted?

I think LJ Moore would be leaning towards Safety more than Kinlaw

IMHO:

QB: Zaire
RB: Muhammad
WR: Onwualu, Robinson, unknown name (maybe Stringfellow, Williams or Treadwell)
TE: Heuerman
OL: Montelus, Bivin, McGlinchey, McGovern, Elmer
DL: Rochell, Matuska, Muhammad
OLB: Smith, Mattingly, unknown name (maybe Drennon or Cooper)
ILB: Anzalone, Deeb
CB: Kinlaw, Moore, Butler
P: unkown name

Right now I would be more suprised if we did land a WR than if we didnt

read a couple pages back. I believe there is only two names that have really surfaced.

Got it...

I think LJ Moore would be leaning towards Safety then Kinlaw

IMHO:

QB: Zaire
RB: Muhammad
WR: Onwualu, Robinson, unknown name (maybe Wlliams or Treadwell)
TE: Heuerman
OL: Montelus, Bivin, McGlinchey, McGovern, Elmer
DL: Rochell, Matuska, Muhammad
OLB: Smith, Mattingly, unknown name (maybe Drennon or Cooper)
ILB: Anzalone, Deeb
CB: Kinlaw, Moore, Butler
P: unkown name Austin Barnes is the guy who was being mentioned...

Right now I would be more suprised if we did land a WR than if we didnt

Irish in TN. The Barnes kid and whoever the punter committed to Auburn is the other one. I believe the is the #1 punter this year.

Isn't Anzalone an OLB? At least that's what his thread profile says.

we could take more than 21-22 if we got the right people... The magic number for 2013 after Deeb's commitment is 9. It really all depends on what 5th years the coach wants back, the one I want back the most is probably going to the NFL, Cierre Wood. After that you have: Watt, Z. Martin, Fox, Calabrese, J Golic, Stockton, and Tausch. I would only want the top 4 back to be honest, but I doubt the staff takes both Fox and Calabrese back (and with our LB core, we dont really need either of them to come back) Watt and Z. Martin are studs and one of them could go to the NFL in the later rounds, maybe both. I have a feeling that the staff wont take that many this year. Maybe 1-3 5th years, which would give us room for 6-8 more recruits.

2 more DBs (Alexander, LJ Moore, Willis)
1 more LB (Anzalone)
1 more WR (Treadwell, Stringfellow, Williams)
1 more DL (Latham, Muhammad)
1 Punter
1 RB (Muhammad)

Just because I like seeing this thread on the front page, going with Anzalone on either the 7th or the 8th whichever day he decides!

After his decision I have no idea. Any takers?

It seems like Anzalone is the only recruit we have been talking about lately. Is there any other recruit that we have a chance with that is deciding soon?

Don't say Ogundeko because I don't think we really have a shot with him

Clifton Garrett (#2 OLB in 2014 class) is deciding at the US Army All American Game and could possibly choose the Irish.

Things are going to slow down a lot in july/august in terms of decisions. We'll have a number of visitors though and anything is possible on a visit

I think it might be time to talk about actual football. It seems like we have been talking about recruiting all year

There is a good amount of people on this board that I am convinced enjoy recruiting more than the actual football.

I'm not one of those people. haha

Im not going to lie, sometimes I forget about the football team and I am 100% focused on recruiting. But getting a break from football is good for me because when Notre Dame football is in season I get so stressed out that I probably take off a couple years of my life haha

I only like to talk recruiting with you guys. Talking football with you all is (for the most part) like throwing a brick at a plexiglass window.

And is there an article saying that? Because I took his tweet as he was committing to play in that particular game his senior year.

Say what?!! We have some great football minds on here, homie. I'll take discussing offensive line play with old man mike or reading Hollywood's U$C breakdowns all day over pining over where a 15 year old kid is going to play his college football. There is far more window-licking in the recruiting convo's vs real football talke imo. You can't "buzz-buzz" a real football conversation.

haha, I read that tweet completely wrong. Everyone disregard my previous comment.

There's certainly some actual intellectual conversation to be had regarding football, but the season comes around and intelligence goes bye-bye and in comes cry babies, whiners, and sad excuses for posts. People start posting with strictly their emotions and not the brain they have.

Don't read the game threads. Stick to the commentary ones

On game day there's always that one troll that post porn pics. The mods have gotten really good at taking that guy out, but it still hampers the game threads.
