Edited my original, happy now?

Yeah, but when other posters respond to you by saying something like "No, Player X won't play there because of XYZ", you get offended and say that they shouldn't be so definitive because all they are saying is opinions, not facts. But then you turn around and do the exact same thing, saying there is no chance that Stanley plays LT nor basketball, which is just your opinion (and Stanley does have the talent to play LT IMHO). Can't have it both ways...

Not gonna start another uneeded argument but I will say quit telling me my emotions and I said their is no way Stanley ISN'T a future LT, Kelly also mentioned numerous times when referring to Stanley post NSD about him as a future LT so yes our coaches shift a lot but they expect him to play LT

Again man, what LA is saying is that the problem is your black and white definitiveness towards it, that's all. There is a way, maybe several, that Stanley possibly couldn't be a LT. Is he likely to be a LT? Yes, of course. But it is certainly possible he is moved with the way we utilize our line. Can not condemn statements like that in one ilk and then make them and defend them in another.

Simply not true. He pulled in a lot of highly rated o-line prospects. The development wasn't there, but to say he didn't recruit the o-line well or didn't pay attention to it is false.

I think what happened is that O-lines are beest when you have well-developed seniors. This isn't just a matter of physical maturity, you need guys who learn the craft off the feild from other guys who know all the tricks of the trade. Not only did Weis' guys get thrown right into the fire, but they also had no one to teach them what it means to be a bad *** elite linemen. The current kids are learning from Martin, Watt, Cave, etc.

That is not to say you can't throw an occassional lowerclassman in the mix when he is truly exceptional, you can. But even those kids' development would be stunted if they were not working with vets.

Long story short, it was 100% Willingham's fault.

Weis had problems on the DLine, though, with the exception of one excellent year.

1. I read your post too quickly, and missed the "isn't" part. My bad. But that wasn't even the point of the post. Here's the point:

2. In one thread you said yesterday:

I thing "No" is a little harsh Nuke & GB, I disagree maybe? These are opinions not facts.

You got your feelings hurt because some people were definitive in their arguments against you. You wanted them to say "I disagree because..." or "IMO" or whatever. But then later in the day, on a different thread, when someone noted Stanley's interest in playing basketball, you wrote:

No chance he plays basketball and no chance he isn't a future LT.

And when someone called you out on it, you added "IMO" and wrote, "Happy now?" At that point, you're coming off like a p r i c k, especially considering how just earlier in the day you admonished 2 others earlier in the day for being too disagreeable.

3. I doesn't matter if I'm a stranger, your brother, or your best friend. This is a message board - we're all strangers here when it comes down to it. And the bottom line is, YOU got offended by people for doing the exact same thing YOU did to others a few hours later. Like I said, you can't have it both ways.

Another uneeded controversy. I just said u guys were right. Ironman8 took care of it fine and u for some reason feel the need to state your opinion when the situation was over and dealt with.

"You got your feelings hurt..." quit tellling me what I think or feel, u don't know me. I'm not offended by anything or anyone except you

In perhaps a more football-productive line of reasoning: Ronnie Stanley is a great talent and probably can play any position on the line that he and the coaching staff wants him to. At the moment we have an All-American left tackle being backed up by the guy that our coaches felt was very elite and showed the sort of nasty streak that they were looking for in a left tackle, Prestwood. At RIGHT tackle however is Christian Lombard backed up by Tate Nichols. Despite Nichols having a fight with Aaron Lynch on the practice field, I still don't count that for much in terms of gameday play. Who is better? Prestwood or Nichols? It could easily be Prestwood [though of course I don't know]. But IF it is Prestwood, why wouldn't the staff look at Big Ronnie as a possible Right Tackle? Note also that Zaire is left-handed --- who knows which is the "blindside" in the future??

Excellent point, who would u say is a traditional LT from this class? McGovern and Montelus are more guards IMO but I don't see McGlinchey/Elmer/Bivin inherently a LT type ( or if Zaire starts a RT type.)

Well, what the 2013s do isn't EXACTLY relevant to Hiestand's use of Ronnie Stanley [since they come a year later and Coach will be building year-to-year], but as a question of general interest: all of our 2013 verbals are athletic guys. Any program practically in the country would be drooling to work with them, so in some sense any of them could play left or right tackle just fine. Montelus seems a little more like an interior lineman perhaps, and if he wanted to, one could imagine him making himself into a Markise [however it's spelled] Pouncey, and lighting up the NFL for years. Any of the others could be tackles. McGlinchey has been called "prototypical" as a tackle and very athletic. He started as a basketball player and as a tight end. At 6'9" with long levers and athletic mobility, he would certainly be an option.

I had a chat with an administrator at Gorman a few weeks ago, and asked him about Ronnie. His statement was very succinct and direct. He said, "When you think of what a Notre Dame graduate is - that is Ronnie Stanley." He went on to say that Ronnie will do ND proud and he will do Nevada proud.

I'm very excited to watch this young man develop. Personally I hope he (like all OL) redshirt (or whatever you want to call it), but we'll have to see how things play out. Kelly mentioned that he needs to be ready to see action this year in one press conference.

LOL...it's like the Lakers and the Clippers; too one-sided to be a 'rivalry' in my eyes, but those Clippers still insist it is.

And the kid neg-repped me and called me a douche LOL for saying my feelings were hurt (which they were - those words from him really stung). First neg-rep in about 3 years. I've never red-bombed a non-troll before, so now my feelings are REALLY hurt.

Look, why don't you take this off-topic stuff to Stanley's thread?

Stanley Set To Start

"The coaches said if I do play basketball, I'll be treated like I was on scholarship for the basketball team," he explained. "I'm not sure how all of that will play out, but we'll see when the time comes. I'll probably decide sometime before football season or slightly after."

I guess if you red-shirt in football, but actually play B-ball, then it makes sense that you would take a bball scholarship.

This is correct. As long as he redshirts in football but plays basketball this upcoming season, he'd be on a basketball scholarship until he plays football next fall. It doesn't really matter at this point because they aren't going to be close to the 85 limit, but I thought the basketball team was full scholarship wise with Martin coming back?

Didn't Katenda get put on medical hardship? They may have one available.

I thought they were going to wait, I saw something where Brey was hopeful he could one day contribute. If you get put on medical hardship, your career its over I believe.

The big man (don't want to butcher his name) was put on hardship but I thought his scholarship was used on Martin. I could be wrong as I'm doing this off top of my head.

Katenda is not on hardship... Yet. There is still hope.

Drago did transfer though and Broghammer went on medical hardship

Where would he play if he was on the basketball team? Certainly too short to play down low and certainly too big to play on the perimeter. This isn't high school basketball anymore, 6'6" is considered short in basketball. Just stick to your strengths and play football

He is listed as 6'7" some places, and bball height inflation is worse than football.

I doubt he plays, but a 6'6-7" 295 lb. center/foward could be a force on the boards, and could back down a lot of taller players. Jullius Peppers, for example, was a beast.

If we were struggling with getting bball recruits then I would be fine with it but we have some good kids coming in so let them play
