That is most certainly a fact brotha, however he has been flirting with us for awhile and many like our chances to flip him. He visited for Junior Day in April and has spoken of a return trip this summer. Now the rest of ya's, what say you?

ahhhh i see

they do that???
so a verbal commit is not 100%????

cheers lads

Think of it like this:

Verbally committing- like getting engaged. You've said you're committed to someone, but you can still back out without things getting too bad. The only thing you have to worry about is social backlash if you do back out.

National Signing Day- like getting married. You're in it. You can't back out without things getting messy. (Divorce --> Transfer).

And if you verbal to Southern Cal and go elsewhere you get to keep the diamong ring, the earrings, and the house for mom and dad. There was never any paper trail so who's gonna complain?

Rather than an engagement think of verbal commitments like the HS Cheerleader who accepted 6 dates for the Prom. The only one that counts is the one she comes with who might not be her date.

Doubtful. Bosco guys typically wait until the end of their senior season to make visits. But I guess Peppers could make the visit.

Clifton Garrett is more likely. He lives in a Chicago suburb and is #41 overall on 247.

EDIT: STL beat me too it.

That analogy is good, but it still doesn't go far enough.

On a practical level, committing is really nothing more than a request that the school reserve a scholarship for you in response to an offer from the school.

While most kids don't make that request unless they really intend to go to the school (at least for that moment), they are allowed to continue looking around, and many do until they sign a Letter of Intent (which they cannot do until February).

There is no real backlash if a kid switches at the last minute--if he is good another school will take him despite breaking his word and potentially dragging the first school along. On the other hand, there is a lot of bad press for the school if they pull an offer late in the game.

Andy Bauer could be a possibility, but he's technically outside the top 50.

Peppers does not go to Bosco anymore, FYI.

Hey, I have heard a lot of rumors, not sure about what's what. And I don't want to get in the middle of the melodrama. But, I have heard that there are some injuries that really affect who we take. Is Collinsworth out for the year? Is it true that Roberson and Carrico are taking a medical. I feel terrible for the guys. But how would that affect our recruiting?

Collinsworth is out, Roberson might not ever play same with Carrico. Ya i know sh1t cray and it honestly sucks. Was really working for a good year from Austin. It will affect recruiting Troy Nikals isn't 100 percent either but some say he is I don't know which to believe. So look for us to maybe go after another TE has TP stated last week.

I have heard tha tRoberson and Carrico are taking a medical. How will that affect our recruiting, another offensive lineman? Or d-lineman? Lesser running backs? More than one power back? What? Or just load @ss-kicking linebackers? Inquiring minds want to know.

No worries brotha! Recruiting is very emotional on these boards which you will come to understand. You are most definetly in for a treat if this is your first season following it. This looks to be a very good class so far and the kids themselves are lobbying for other top recruits. Also welcome aboard! I just joined not too long ago and already like this ND site better than any of the others I was a part of.

One more DE will be taken I hope its Muhammad. I know you love all Sherit but he almost popped on his most recent visit to Florida. O Line we are done with. 5 LB's. Jaylon Smith, Alex Anzalone, Chans Cox, Danny Mattingly, Doug Randolph. maybe a swing guy like Drennon or Obengeko who can play the CAT or DE would make GB's wish list.Which would be 6 maybe the staff would be flexible with that. I am not sure if we will take a running back at this point. Power back will be Mahone you don't see to many spread teams running power sets plus George can fly but he is still pretty big. If it's the right QB this year(Golson) don't see to many checks at the line and this offense should fly. So I do see a need for a big back which was addressed last year but I don't see a need for two.

Austin sitting out this year (as Me2SouthBend pointed out in his most recent article) could be a blessing in disguise. I know we were all excited for him this year and the coaches were raving about his development, but this allows him to perserve a year after playing in his first two. He will be able to hop into the lineup next year with two years left after Zeka and Jamoris leave.

It is fortunate we have those two, along with Danny McCarthy, for this upcoming year. With those three, it would appear that only one of the frosh / Salvi / Badger would really possibly be put into early service in the secondary.

I'm sorry, what was that?

TP's tweet on the same afternoon that Michael Hutchings tweets he's announcing July 1st. Just to much of a coincidence.

Cam Roberson is a good kid, hard worker, just Had a mountain to climb to see PT before he shattered his knee. As ive said before Carrico will not know for quite awhile whether or not he can play again, the recovery/rehab are that extensive. Hopefully Niklas can hang in there but to not prepare to lose him for good later this year or next would be bad. Just watch the offers and the types of kids the staff is recruiting, there are a lot of swing guys.
