..... experiment #47x3 -dshans- will return to station shortly. He is currently out buying a copy of Catcher in the Rye. ..... He has also temporarily forgotten that Fromage de la Petit Maison is Cottage Cheese ---- something they do a lot of in Minnesota.

.... end of line.

My copy of Catcher in the Rye is alive and well (though a bit worse for wear) on one of my book shelves. Right there with Aldous Huxley's Doors of Perception and Tom Robbin's Another Roadside Attraction.

In the ten years I was married to a French teacher we never got to the chapter on fromage de la petite maison. Perhaps I was distracted by moving to a city 40 miles from Wisconsin where cheese curds got more PR.

LSD? I don't recall hearing that Woodstock was all that violent. DShans, care to enlighten?/QUOTE]

I didn't make it to Woodstock, dammit! I was between my junior and senior years of high school at the time. I had a part time job and the parents would have frowned on my taking that road trip from FL to NY. Besides, it was promoted as a regional three day festival of some music and art. We all know how things ballooned.

Three of my NY (LI) cousins did go. They found it fun and exciting but messy and a bit chaotic. They all lost their shoes to the mud. They reported no incidences of hostility and/or violence.

As to LSD and violence? I do have some experience. With the LSD, not the violence. I recall that my first "experience" was my sophomore year at ND. My second my junior year and my last my senior year. Perhaps it was my attitude that peace, non-violence and understanding were the proper path. Perhaps it was a well-crafted and "clean" version of the drug that saved me from the dark side. l have little to no confidence in the purity of what is available currently.

Altamonte and the subsequent debacle was an issue of greed. By then the suppliers of LSD and other "street" drugs were consumed with the notion of profit rather than quality control. Promoters (hiring The Hell's Angels for security) were more interested in managing gate receipts than allowing a large collection of young folks enjoy themselves and letting their "freak flag fly."

Some lessons have been learned. I look to Bonaroo as an example. Not forgetting Burning Man. It's long been "The time of the season for loving." And the time to "Smile on each other, try to love one another right now."

Forgive me, but I ramble far too much on occasion. I wax poetic and expound against "the man," but it is a necessary part of life and discourse.

Its the "bathsalts." It really is not an LSD-type of drug, it is a "Resident Evil" type of virus. Warn your kids.

Shouldn't you already have your 2k rounds? Where is the preparedness people? If my house ever caught fire the fire dept will have to sit back and watch from a distance.

That sounds better. :awesomewo Also make sure you have a gun for every size round. That way you can shoot any ammo you may get a hold of.

Out of curiosity are any of you "preppers"? Not just for "zombies" but any potential (budding) disasters?

I still have a few things to work on but I am trying to get completely stocked enough to last a disaster(crazies, mother nature, anything else I can foresee)

I guess I'm an aspiring prepper. I've got three young kids, an attractive wife, and I'll soon be a homeowner. I don't plan on dedicating a ton of resources toward preparing for highly improbable contingencies, but I just sleep better at night when I feel like I can adequately protect my family on my own.

I'm already covered for that disaster. Not only am I married but I got a vasectomy about 4 years ago.

I am starting to prep, but just so I have enough to live on hoping whatever hits (and it will most likely be financial, like Greece or Spain, not Mad Max) will only last 6 months at the most. Weapons, alternative money and water are easiest, its the food that worries me. Hard to keep a rolling 6 month stock for 5 people.
