My dad had 2 Maseratis when I was growing up and I loved those.

I like the new ones.

Of course with twins coming, I will have to put that dream on hold for now. No way the wife lets me get a new car right now. LOL

Sure she will, as long as it is a minivan.

I was debating saying anything on this thread, but dshans created the itch. This will only heighten my aura of being the most difficult guy to relate to here [at least what I'm about to say always has had that effect over the years].

I've never owned a car and really never wanted one. How's THAT for coming from another planet?

Some "accountant type persons" have calculated that this aberration has saved me at a minimum $300,000 so far, and given gasoline price advances etc. probably more like a half million.

Of course that's not why I did it. I actually liked to walk, and to live near work, and to create lecture thoughts as I went into work, and blow all the steam away before I returned back home --- all due to the walking.

I understand that this makes me suspiciously "unAmerican" but what-the-heck: "It's my way or the Highway".

dshans can keep his scooter.

I don't think there is a more beautiful engine in a hoodless street rod than a flathead V8.

We hope to spend the first two years of our retirement traveling the US and Canada in one of these. One or two golf courses a week!

The last time down to Belize I met a European couple that shipped their Mercedes Van into MX and were driving all the way down the west cost of Chile, then back up the east coast of Argentina, etc. all the way back up to MX where they arrived. Talk about a roadtrip. Very cool, but always wondered how things turned out.
