Even my place at 9k feet in the Rockies probably isn't like Minnesota...but these things are primary transportation in pretty remote places in Alaska and Canada...which seem a reasonable comparison to your weather situation. Get one...you'd never regret it.
With a TOP speed of 20mph, as you alluded, its best to mark progress much less in gazelle terms and more in tortoise terms...
. I'd be there for Michigan...maybe.
