The shame scale takes into account a variety of factors, from NCAA rules-related scandals and player misbehavior to academic performance and financial state.
We haven't had any NCAA violations, and we're top of the heap for academic performance and financial state. So why should ND fans be embarrassed?
I assume the author considered the our poor performance in the title game, the Lennay Kekua scandal, and Kelly's dalliance with the Eagles, but none of those things make me ashamed to be an Irish fan.
We just (1) had our best regular season in nearly two decades; (2) Kelly signed a top 5 class in February; and (3) we're primed to make a BCS game this year. This grid is embarrassing.
Academic stalwarts Stanford and Northwestern rank among the winners. So does Notre Dame—although the Manti Te'o fake-girlfriend fiasco sent the Fighting Irish plummeting toward the "embarrassing" axis.

Does the author note that somewhere, or is that just your inference. I think you're probably right, though.
So Te'o getting catfished completely erases any pride ND fans should feel in the rooting for the first and only program to ever be ranked 1st in the BCS and 1st in GSR? Gotcha.
Just when I thought you had me....... lol
So by this measure Clemson is the 'best' program in the country??? Okay
Perhaps I should have said "make a run". Most analysts are projecting a 9-3 record, which would be just on the cusp of BCS eligibility. Nothing's guaranteed, but we certainly have lots of valid reasons to be optimistic right now.
One of the comments laments about a football player being accused or rape and the girl committing suicide. Guilty until proven innocent in the eyes of the world. (word is the girl was not well mentally and it was a horrible situation, but not to the fault of the football player).
Michael Floyd, Everett Golson, not exactly nothing but proud moments for them.
Our "scandals" don't even get beyond rumor at other schools before it is covered up or more likely overridden by a bigger problem.
Dumb arbitrary graphic.
Clearly Texas A&M belongs above the morality/admiration line. JFM has been a class act from the time he stepped on campus. I find it interesting that all the B1G teams are considered powerhouses except Illinois and Purdue. Really? Indiana and Minnesota aren't exactly world beaters.
WSJ has become the next Bleacher Report
but saw Florida[/I]
Unc's unis are ugly and a quick strike by the Gamecocks

What the hell is so admirable about Mizzou and Wisky to put them so high on that end... or MSU for that matter???
Because the writer is a Michigan Grad.
What a coincidence then that UM's two biggest rivals are listed among the most "embarrassing" programs in the nation.
