Hooper, Boyd, Hunter, Muhammad and Muhammad + no decommits? Would you be happy with that? Or would you rather roll the dice with higher rated prospects? What last 5 would you be "content" with?

I would be good with that though I would rather trade Boyd/ Hunter for LJ Moore. I think we have a really good shot at Hooper. I have a feeling Sherit commits to UF once VH does but I still think he visits.

Hooper, Boyd, Muhammad (DE), Hunter I would be good with.

I am a big fan of Muhammad the RB but I would prefer Brenneman take his spot and we double up at RB next cycle...

I would be happy ending with that, maybe Boyd plays safety.

If Sherit doesn't commit to UF soon I would consider it a succes considering UF will probably get a couple big ones (like VH3) soon.

“@joshnewberg247: There will be a bunch of commitments made between now and the start of camp. *Expect a few coming out of the Tampa area.”

^ added he doesn't expect them to leave the state

My barely realistic dream: Elliott, Hunter Jr., A. Muhammad, Sherit & Alexander

VH and Sherit are at UF today. That's all that needs to be said about that. Bailey will pick UCF in the next week.

I dont get how schools like UF, Michigan and ND miss out on Bailey to UCF. All about personal comfort and fit I guess

I probably would. The only one I'd hesitate on at all is Boyd. Is he really a good fit? I haven't seen his film. I'd love to get an elite CB. Hooper, yes (do we really have a spot for him if we get A. Muhammad though?); Hunter, definitely; K. Muhammad, yes, think he may be underrated; A. Muhammad, DEFINITELY, absolutely love his athleticism.

I would be ecstatic with the bolded part alone. The only thing I question about those listed is a CB. Can Boyd play corner? If he can I would most def. take the scenario.

I would trade out one of the Boyd/Hunter for LJ Moore or other highly rated CB. In failing that, than this finish would be great, too.

Muhammed, Hunter, LJ Moore, Boyd, Alexander

I think Hunter and Boyd have safety potential.

Yes. Find a way to get Moore or Alexander in there (maybe a medical for Carrico), and I'd be ecstatic.

The reason I picked this list is that it doesn't appear that we're in good position with any CBs. We are in OK position with a couple... but in general it appears the choice will be between passing on other prospects in favor of hoping for good performance on the field and improving our position with some elite recruits OR taking a crop of guys now that we have have inside tracks for if we pursue with the right fervor.

We can likely land Khalfani Muhammad and Austin Hooper by making them the top guys on our board. Good prospects both of them that would be great additions to the program. But clearly you can make a case for, say, Tennpenny or Folston over Muhammad.... or Sherit over Hooper. But due to decision schedules it becomes very hard to shoot for those guys and still stay in the race with Muhammad/Hooper who will have west coast schools chomping at the bit to land them every day. So it almost becomes an either/or choice.

Then you have to think we can land 2 "good athletes" from the crop of WRs/ATHs we're in on right now... Boyd, Hunter, Fuller, etc.... many of these types of "6' tall, 4.5 40, low 4:s:" type guys will continue to pop up throughout the cycle even if we start missing on prospects. However, taking a commitment from one or more of these types of guys eliminates your chances of getting in with a big time WR or CB late in the cycle. But in all cases, we're on the outside looking in with these other prospects as it currently stands... so it's quite a risk to hope LJ Moore loves his OV or randomly a Nadir Barnwell type picks up interest after we start 7-0.

The only player with a late decision schedule that we could probably consider ourselves in "good" position with is Muhammad. So I leave him as our superstar cap to the class in the final 5.

Do you take a Will Fuller or Boyd in place of waiting for a 4:s:+ CB? Do you take Hooper over athletic freak Sherit? Do you take a one-dimensional but quite talented Khalfani Muhammad over swinging for the fences?

I think it's a tough question and a worthwhile discussion to have.

I would take Boyd or Hunter in a heartbeat, not AS sold on Fuller to be honest, but he would be welcome also. However, I think you have to keep a spot open for Muhammad and a top tier DB as well as a punter, that leaves only 1-2 spots left. I say take the best available, wouldnt mind another DB (low 4* type of guy).

Good write up, Lax. For my part I like those prospects enough (except for maybe Boyd or Fuller ... Haven't seen enough film to form a firm opinion) to take them. I don't think being conservative is very smart; if we liked them enough to offer, we should be happy if they want to come. You let it go down to the wire and you end up with a small class or an unbalanced one. Some years you'll get lucky on signing day, but what if you don't? You go depth problems. Self-imposed sanctions.

Anyone have some solid math on target #? Would seem we have a lot of moving parts between Carrico/Niklas/Roberson uncertainty and any possible early draft entrees.

Niklas is fine, the other two are unknown. TP might know something.

The thing is, there probably will be flips. Or maybe not probably, but at least very possibly, someone who seems solid now will change his mind. And that's all the more reason not to turn guys away now. If JWalls (unthinkably) were to end up decommitting, and then we missed on whatever elite prospect we were holding out for, we'd be pretty mad we didn't take Hunter/Boyd/Fuller.

I dont care who we end up getting to end the class, as long as either Mackenzie Alexander or Priest Willis are part of it. Both would be just fantastic!..

It sucks but with this many commits this early, got to think at least one decommit is likely. Happens every year. But of course we don't know who/what position.
So I'd lean towards taking kids if we want them and figure out the total numbers later, when we have a better sense of fifth years and injuries and whatnot.
That said, I'd plan on leaving a couple of spots open for A. Muhammed and an elite DB. We need one of those.
