It's clear from the way they came out and MF's press conference, they had bought into their own hype. One half of the offense getting smacked around fixed that. Defense is good and will be even better. They played too concerned about their QB running in the first half. Once they let them loose, it was a totally different feel.

Aneyas woke up, but he still isn't a game changing big play guy. Did he get bigger and slower over the last two seasons? Put James in the slot and let Kedron be the 2nd RB. The RB's got it done in the 2nd half, but it more of just a plodding, yet efficient effort, They just don't look like big play threats.

The WR corp is apparently just Jordan Faison. Somebody better emerge and fast. We attempted one deep pass down the sideline.

I thought we'd go to the TE's more.

Right now, we look like a team that can win 11 games and get bounced in the first round of the playoffs. That all changes if we find some more threats at WR and TE. We're not winning a national championship throwing to one guy no matter how good the defense is.

Hard to view our WRs as anything resembling threats, other than Faison (who is really good.) We need another chunk option. Right now our second chunk option is the DBs taking picks to the house. {{ I KNOW from the past that Aneyas can do this. The halftime adjustment to play action then throwing to the RB as he slipped to the middle of the field while the WRs ran deep routs was very affective!!

Looked this up, Coleman is basically tied for the 2nd highest recruit on the roster (Heywood) and is the highest rated skill guy by far. Type of guy in the SEC he puts up 500 yards this year some team drafts in the 7th RD.

To add to this Coleman ran a 10.45 in Hs at 6’4”. Equates to a high 4.3 40. Athletic freak that took some time to figure it out but seems like a great find by Fickel.

What I didn’t like for a supposed “home” game was a) Wiscy had a 50% distribution of tix b) lots of the on field and video board activities were evenly split including things like “get loud” messages for UW during ND critical downs.

This is correct. Wisconsin was technically the home team in 2021 at Soldier Field (aired on FOX). We were designated as the home team in this game due to broadcasting rights for home game limits or some mumbo jumbo. Remember that this game was originally supposed to be played in 2020 in succession with the Soldier Field game. Both of them were 50/50 neutral site games though.

Postgame Thoughts:
1. Wisconsin won the first half, ND won the second half- adjustments, adjustments, adjustments (especially the O-line)
2. Faison flashed some great lacrosse moves on the football field
3. I felt like Nolan James wasn't talked much about in fall camp- he showed last night what we can do
4. If Greathouse doesn't step up, I feel like he will fall on the depth chart
5. Nice to see the TE's get involved, how long does ND wait to get Premer on the field?
6. Too many Wisconsin WR's open across the middle of the field
7. Wisconsin win's will determine how much of a dual threat QB Colton Joseph can be, ND contained him
8. Our transfers on the defense played a solid game
9. The fixes are minor
10. Put up 60 vs Rice

Seemed to be a solid performance for him based those clips. Moved his guy very well several times and held protection well on passes. That holding call on him was bullshit, he literally just causes the guy to fall by hitting his left arm down. Does something similar the next clip and doesn’t get called.

Clips are just as useful to watch any of the other guys during that same rep series.

Can't figure out why (so leave it to the coaches) but Carr seems less scared of pocket collapse coming from the Knapp/Black side than Lambert's side. ... that is he tends to fade away to his left consistently. That probably means something important.

Likewise. 6 yards receiving on 1 catch. I find it pretty alarming that he was hardly targeted. Starting to have questions about his ability to separate. Not giving up on him so please no one argue with me about that. But we need dudes that can separate and get open consistently for Carr. Carr can sling it downfield. Felt Faison and Graham did that best last night. Truly want to see Frazier/Premer. Liked what I saw from Flanagan/Flanigan however feel Premer could be far more explosive.

I think Greathouse whiffing on the bubble screen pass play got him some rest. He should be a better blocker at his size.

The double move thing might have been part of the depth chart gamesmanship. Malachi Coleman is a physical freak but been a journeyman thus far. No Wisconsin beat guys had him as some breakout candidate. You see a 6’5 WR with little scouting report come on the field I think they just were not expecting a double move go ball. That might be one that won’t work for Wisconsin the rest of the year as everyone will have that jotted down for Coleman.

Should ND do the same thing with O’Brien for the Miami game?

Knapp was a good tackle for us but he can be an elite guard. While Black and Lambert were born into this world to play tackle. By the time we play another defense like Wisconsin's I think our OL will be just fine. Better than fine, even.

1) Enough bad (especially in the first half) to be able to get on guy's assess during film study. That should help them be more locked in and not come out flat against Rice.

2) Comfy win. Covered the spread. Hopefully no major injuries 🤞

3) We were spoiled by Love and Price. We can win with the current RB room, but the run game is going to look very different.

4) WR (other than Faison) need to step up.
