Interesting our average star power is higher than five of the eleven teams in front of us and only two teams behind us have higher per recruit averages (Michigan and Washington). Then you have Mr. 583 national recruit Ja'mion Franklin at 3* - how many 3 stars were at The Opening again? Micah Jones at 411 national composite largely thanks to 247 ranking him 791 (versus Rivals at 170). I am having a really hard time shooting holes in our recruiting at this stage of the game.

Our recruiting overall is GOOD, especially when you take into consideration we were 4-8.

I'm specifically talking about kids who came to ND this summer with them as their leader or close to, and now they're backing off.

I'm not worried about it at all. Brian Kelly can go 4-8 with higher ranked recruits just as easily. With BK we have a better than 50% chance to end the season unranked. What recruit wouldn't want that kind of success?

As I stated in my previous post, Koon is quite literally just making some of this up.

This is very hard on the brain...good grief.

Koon simmer down. Just look forward to Sep 2nd and the rest of the season. That's all i'm caring about. If ND puts a good product out on the field...the entire season, i have no worry that they will land a good recruiting haul. If they are 4-8 again or close/worse, then all this bickering will be for not because more than likely the class will fall apart. Just wait for either.

agree.
going to let this season play out.
Jacks' pulled a Costanza "opposite" move here--keep the "hot seat head coach" and fire most of the assistants. its usually fire the coach try and keep the good assistants. so this will be interesting. maybe it will do the trick. I doubt it, but there is no other option but to "root root root for old Notre Dame."

I think anyone that can't see an issue with CB recruiting right now (no matter how many months to NSD) is completely blind.

Hearing that Burton could potentially not even qualify makes it even worse. Only ND could not land a corner last year, have yet to land one this year (excluding a decommited Gervin) and have it's most likely guy not have to books needed.

You would almost have to try and suck that bad.

My completely uneducated opinion is that if Elko and the defense create some havoc and guys start putting up some sack numbers, while creating some Int's on the back end, guys will take notice. I think this will be a fun defense to play in. Hopefully the product matches my expectations. He's done very well with less talent than he has now. We shall see.

I concur, lots of "wait and see" going on here. Both from a fan and recruit perspective

I have recruiting apathy. I consider all our commits as soft until Kelly proves he doesnt shiit the bed again. If he can rebound and win 10 and a bowl game we may flip a few not on our radar.

Who knows? I just can't take another 4 win embarrassment!

You're making an excuse for every instance basically, and giving an incredible benefit of the doubt. We have kids coming in saying "I'm ready anytime", and analysts talking with them and their family saying "he could commit this weekend"... And they leave and say they need more time. That's a terrible sign.

It often works the opposite way: Kids will visit USC, OSU, Michigan, etc over the summer, going in saying they're taking their time and taking other visits. Love the visit so much, they commit unexpectedly.

ND, through its sufficient recruiting plan, has managed to do the opposite. Bravo.

Then for Christ's fucking sakes, go root for another God damned team if it's this much of a fucking problem for you then........it gets old with you constantly bitching about one thing or another.

I can't get that worked up about recruiting in July. Especially when we've got the basis of a very solid class. That said I also can't help but remember that under BK in recent years we have tended to lock up the bulk of our class before the season starts, and that late-deciding high-star drama queens rarely break our way in the end.
So a couple more wins here would sure feel nice.

Not sure what just happened, but apparently Aston White not being part of the football team anymore has sprung a BUNCH of CB's for ND. Tremble, Ausin, McKenzie, Bracy, Burton, DOn Johnson, and Lamb

No. Even I'll agree that CB recruiting has been extraordinarily terrible. I'm not happy with it. Gervin hurts.

But I'm not worried about kids who we lead for just because they didn't commit yet. We aren't even done with summer.

Haha, I had the same "issue" when I went to 247. It's only showing CBs to ND for some reason and despite how old they are.

I just went and saw Loy put in a CB for McGrone. Maybe they were afraid Koon would show up at the home office in his postal uniform?

That is what I found. I thought, "WOW, We are getting everyone we want!! What will this board talk about now???"

With a 9 win season is this a realistic finish to this class.

WR K. Austin
TE T. Tremble
OL S. Taimani
OL W. Craig

DE T. Booker
CB D. Johnson
CB T. Plummer
S P. Moala
S D. McKenzie

Switch one of those safeties for a CB and it looks good, minus the need for a Drop.

If Lamb's news is good, then Kevin Austin will have been jumped by 2 guys. That's a great group of 3 recruits, all Top 150 players and 2 of them on defense.

Landing both Lamb and Austin would push ND's class score north of 240 on the composite score, less than 10 points away from last year with still a number of positions still left to go, assuming they can hold them all.

Hayes and Okwara each have three years remaining. Add in the hopeful development of Ade and Wardlow.

I figured that Hayes was a 3 year player. I hope Okwara will take the next step, but it's no guarantee, same for Ade and Wardlow.
