Loy saying that Perry and Studstill could be next and Okeke could be left out if his decision isn't made soon.

Wish Perry's tape had more coverage highlights in it. He's got outstanding size and pursues the ball carrier like a LB. I just wish you could see how quick he is and how fluid his hips are better. not so sure his best position isn't OLB. If he's quick enough, he really could be one hell of a SS.

No reason you don't take all three especially if just one grows into a LB or end up playing CB like Okeke could.

I'd like to see more tape of that as well. I have seen camp footage of Perry in coverage and he is stiff and it wasn't pretty at times. Per Coach D it was more of the same tonight. I too think his future is at OLB, his athleticism is impressive and he could easily add weight and keep that. Get him chasing ball carriers or covering RB/TE's and he'd an asset.

It sounds like Okeke wants to see Stanford first before deciding. I'd let him do that and still be open to him coming in. I'd definitely take Studstill, Okeke, Elliot, and Perry

Yeah I don't see why one gets left out, Studsill, Okeke, Perry, Julian and Jalen is one hell of a DB haul.

Apparently Brocks family has been asking other families (Hoge's) about places to buy in South Bend. This seems pretty locked up.

There's a nice crib for sale on Spring Mist Court, just north of Toll Road off Juniper. Could walk/ride bike over to campus. Next door neighbor is Asst WBB Coach Nell Ivey.

Loy is reporting that Notre Dame gained another commitment this weekend and that it shouldn't be too much longer before it goes public. Some posters on 247 believe it is Perry

Have we been making cracks about constipated recruiting yet? Haven't scrolled all the way through.

DB recruiting for 2016 could be close to wrapped up by the end of the weekend

Parker Boudreaux and Donte Vaughn (I know his plan is to wait until October as of now)

We are getting solid players this cycle. I don't see any 5* talent on the horizon (save H Johnson) but nice talent.

After what I've heard about Johnson. I'm not so positive he'll be Irish

I haven't seen anything in awhile that wasn't glowing about his relationship with Sanford so if there is stuff out there that is saying otherwise I was unaware. Would be a shame to lose out on 3 prospects in state over back-to-back cycles though, but I still like the kids we are getting otherwise. One way or another we will get who we get, but it sure would be better if Hunter is a get.

What did you hear?

Staff, TJ, whoever wants to reply, a buddy I coach with is on VolQuest. I mentioned the '17 recruiting class and the possibility of landing Johnson down the road. He chuckled and said he's going to be a Vol. I told him most around ND seemed to feel pretty good about him and he said the Tennessee mods felt even better. He said Johnson had already been down to Knoxville 5-6 times, he even said Mike Farrell (oh boy) chimes in there about him being a Tenn lean. Thoughts? I know it's very early, but I would not enjoy my job too much if I had to listen to him talk About how Tennessee is back.

Sampson's response

I do think you have to take a step back on this one and look at the dual threat quarterbacks that Notre Dame has been recruiting in the past few cycles, from Golson to Zaire to Kizer to Wimbush. Hunter Johnson isn't a statue back there, but he's not as athletic as those other four, and certainly not as athletic as Zaire or Wimbush in terms of running the ball. That would give me pause if I was Johnson. Notre Dame's staff believes that Johnson has No. 1 overall pick ability. But if you're that good as an NFL quarterback, do you want to get beat up running the read option (yes, I realize Mariotta did and went No. 2). Just something to consider before purchasing your authentic Hunter Johnson jersey from the Notre Dame bookstore.

Anna's response

Notre Dame, Penn State and Tennessee are the top schools. Tennessee was his very first offer, so there's always going to be a unique connection there. To me, this most recent visit for the Irish Invasion put ND in a good spot, but I don't think anyone knows for sure. Penn State and Tennessee feel in good spots as well. We'll see how it plays out from here.

I'm gonna take Sampson's advice on this one and take a step back. Crazy shit happens with 5 :s: recruits

Thanks for the info. Hate to lose this kid to the Vols, and PSU is not going to be good this year or in the foreseeable future, so a season of mediocrity should knock them out.

Like when you decommit from one school, get involved with a shady recruiting "expert," appear to be 100% locked-in on a Pac12 school, and then let an SEC power swoop in and steal you at the last minute?

I've gone from extremely confident in this recruitment to cautiously optimistic.

Doesn't get any crazier than that

He'll play a lot earlier at TN too. Keep in mind though who is coaching at UT, and what offense he wants to run as well.

I think that if he lands at UT, it will be more about early PT and SEC-dazzle. A good season by either UT or ND will go a long way.

PSU's extremely weak schedule guarantees them at least 7 wins every year. It's really sad.
