I feel like we will get 2-3 commits before the end of this month. Kiel should break after his season, a WR, and a wildcard.

Next years class should be better than the previous two.

Which WR? Payton seems to be Michigan unless maybe we get Kiel before he commits. Agholor will wait. Seems like Ian Thomas will wait. Darboh? I like him but I don't know where we stand.

Ian Thomas or Darboh are best bets. Darboh has a lot of visits set up after his visit to ND this up coming weekend so that's not likely.

The athlete from Arizona is a possibility. Getting his first official is big. A great visit could do wonders.

I'm not sure why people are saying Payton is a Michigan lock. He still may favor Michigan at this point but I think labeling him a lock is a stretch. If the Kiel info is all over the internet at this point, Payton knows the deal.

Both Darboh and Thomas are going to be on OVs this weekend, correct? I know for sure Darboh is.

I think Payton goes to Michigan and one of Darboh/Thomas is the next to commit to ND. People should also remember that either Darboh or Thomas could play safety. It's not highly likely, but it's certainly possible for Darboh and I really think Ian Thomas has the build/skills to do it as well. Then after that we get a Gunner Kiel commitment and go full steam ahead to fill out the rest of the spots in our class. In the end I think we end up taking 6 in this order.

1. Darboh OR Thomas
2. Kiel
3. Demetrius Cox
4. Dami Ayoola
5. Ken Ekanem OR Ifeadi Odenigbo
6. Nelson Agholor OR leftover of Darboh/Thomas OR a random OL we're on the outside looking in at right now.

In that order.

Where's the third O-Lineman??

"Random Offensive Lineman" sounds like that option is a last resort---almost a toss-off idea. I'll bet that "random lineman" is WAY farther up the Kelly War-Room list than that.

I think Kiel will get us Banner also. I know the staff feels good about where WR are with him. They also really bonded at the USC game.

I'll go in no order.

Kiel
Banner
Odenigbo
Agholor
Demetrious cox or other DB
Dami Ayoola or we get a decommit from another school
Guy that doesn't have ND that highly rated right now.

"Kiel-Banner-Odenigbo...." THAT's the beginning of a last end list that I'd be ecstatic about.

I thought Thomas wasn't coming until after season. I think Dami is next after this weekends visit. Kiel pops whenever season is over. Then it's nothing until after season.

In pregame warmups Hegarty works in at guard I believe so I don't know if there working him at center in practice or what.

According to the guy at II, he's getting reps at center as well.

Posted his quote earlier in the thread

I just don't see how no one is mentioning the possibility that McNamara could commit after his visit this weekend. I really think he will be the next to pop.

It's not about being high up on the war room list, it's about actually landing the guy. My point was more that we aren't on the inside track with any of the people on our board right now... but yeah, we're certainly trying hard and I wouldn't be surprised to see us land someone when all is said and done... but I don't think it will be late in the cycle... hence #6 in the order.

Look at the developments tonight... now we're all of a sudden in it with Joey O'Connor, a former Penn State commit and ESPNU150 kind of guy. I don't know if we even have a profile on him.

I think when all is said and done we probably don't pick up a big fish for the OL but very well may add a dude with high upside that isn't on our board right now.

Where's the article on that?

It's up on ISD. If he made a top 5 right now I almost guarantee you we'd be in it. At the very least, the article/quotes put us squarely in the mix.

Here's one from today.

ps - By USC, this article is referring to University of South Carolina.

O'Connor rethinking USC and others
By Phil Kornblut
The recruiting fallout from the Penn State scandal is growing. OL Joey O’Connor of Windsor, CO is the latest Nittany Lion commitment to drop the pledge. “It’s unfortunate I had to de-commit but I’m not ruling Penn State out,” O’Connor said. With the door open, O’Connor has welcomed USC and several others back into his space. He’s talked to USC recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. and is considering USC for an official visit. “I’m keeping my options open and will try to figure out what I want to do after the season,” he said. “I haven’t scheduled any visit. I’m concentrating on my season for now.” O’Connor has taken an official visit to Penn State so he has four more to set up. Among the candidates are USC, Notre Dame, Utah, Tennessee and Purdue. And he said he will be looking for some of the same things that first attracted him to Penn State when he committed last June. “Their tradition was a huge part and the integrity of the coaches,” he said. “The whole campus and the university as a whole is amazing. That’s what drew me to Penn State. I’ll be looking now at the tradition and the brotherhood of the football program and the coaching staff.”

Out of the guys we have a chance with I'd put Banner, Stanley, and Diamond ahead of him.

The fact that the staff is still contacting OL prospects says they are after one more. Obviously as TT has pointed out we have a lot of quality depth but two offensive lineman in a class is dangerous. I certainly think we can get away with only three, but two is a stretch.

I really don't see us landing an elite OL. No Banner, Peat, Theus. I would definitely take a Stanley, Diamond, or an O'Conner.

Chance to land. I'm not sure about our shot with Diamond though.

We're in the mix with Banner but certainly don't have any sort of inside track. We will need some really big developments to make up ground there. Diamond I'd say we're squarely in the mix for but there's not a great chance we're ahead of Michigan at this point. Stanley is going to remain an anomaly until he visits (if he ever does).

I do agree that as things continue to shake out we might find ourselves moving into better and better shape for one of these guys... but right now I don't think I'd say we have a "better" chance with any of them because we don't really have a good (>50%) chance with any.

Totally agree. If I had to bet, i'm guessing that we would take the first one to commit, and be cool with not getting any.

On another note, tears of sorrow will streak down woolybug cheeks if any of them end up at scUM.
