Washington, DC Cornerback / Athlete Ashton White will be on campus today trying to get an offer. Coach D on ISD had a write up on him yesterday arguing for us to offer him and that he would be a very good, versatile pickup. Definitely someone to keep an eye on.

Yoon this week. Boykin, Hilliard, and some 2016 guys after that.

I think Hilliard is such a big piece to this class. Not only is he a stud LB, but he is pretty highly regarded by most of his peers. Bring a kid like this in and Cornell becomes more realistic along with someone probably not yet on the radar.

do people seriously want Cornell at ND? He just doesn't seem like a kid who has his stuff together to me..

Yeah this has to be Yoon. Visited Sunday, then NW Monday. Probably needs a day to settle in, but if I'm reading the tea leaves right, we are about to get the no. 1 K, and yankee is just alright with that :)

I really wish Reid had an earlier announcement date.

I think we lead for him, and I think he's the best one that's been mentioned on this board, but I have a feeling we're going to fill the CB class with one more before the end of the season.

It's possible.

I seriously doubt Cornell ends up at ND and I think Hilliard is going to OSU

Is it just me or are there a lot more commitments this year before the season has started than other years?

I think it's just you. I will look in a second for the numbers but I think we had close to 20 in 13 before the season and we had somewhere in the mid teens last year.

2013 class we had 17 before the season (including Mattingly) Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com 2013 Notre Dame Commitments

2014 class we had 14. We will probably finish the summer right in that range. Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com 2014 Notre Dame Commitments

I think he's speaking in general, not just ND.

Without knowing the numbers, I agree. Feels like a lot of big time recruits are deciding sooner.

Yea I meant across the country but also for ND. I guess what I meant was that we don't seem to be waiting on many decisions as opposed to last year. But that is probably just a virtue of less spots.

My fault. I answered the ND specific question regardless :)

Last year we got our 13th commit by Jon Bonner on June 26th (I counted Hood as a commit).

In 2013, Michael Deeb was our 15th commit on 6/29.

We seem to be right in line with our historical trend.

Well I'm kind of right and wrong at the same time in that case because of the smaller class size this year. We have about the same number of commits but aren't really waiting on a lot of spots.

That's pretty consistent since Kelly has been here. I know he likes to get the bulk of the class set before fall camp so he is doing well I would say.

for the top QB's then yes it seems this way. I think the days of an elite QB waiting til Signing Day are gone forever.

A side note, another identifier that this QB class is loaded, Bowling Green have a commit from a 4 Star QB in James Morgan from WI.

James Morgan would be Irish if BK wanted. They just didn't love him, so they passed.

Torrance Gibson will be the only 'elite' QB prospect that will bring it down to the wire this year IMO, and the way next year is shaping up most elite guys seem to want to be committed before their senior year. I agree with you on the way things are trending for sure.

Random stream of consciousness and very obvious, but it's pretty apparent that we have been in the running for so many top guys consistently the past couple years. As Koon said, we make it to the altar and are left standing. It's frustrating.

The only solution to this is winning. If we go 10-2 this year, we will have our pick of the litter. This is such a crucial year for Kelly and our class. There is only so much leveraging we can do with ND and the magnitude of the degree. We need to win.

If we get White, Bilal, Boykins, and Ty'son to end the summer, I will be more then happy with that.

The thing is, if we win, we could get Patrick or Soso instead. These are the type of guys that we can consistently pull if we win more games. Plus Ty'son is visiting Georgia soon and I think will likely commit to them shortly thereafter.
