All time/current... whatever... which/whose number makes you think Notre Dame or vice versa... or in other words what number do YOU put on your fav jersey...

I'm all about 23

My boy Denson all the way baby.

81 would prob. be a distant second

Pre 2005, #3. 2005-the end of time, #10. Until one of my boys dons the blue and gold, that is.

3 was the first number I ever chose as a wee one. After that it was always 23 when I was able to choose my own number.

This must be the thread for the 23s to come out.

As far as ND, 7.

One of the first things I noticed about ND Football, as a young lad, was the preponderance of players with single digit numbers. In my teens, it really struck me as unique. Everyone in college football, it seemed, wanted to wear #12, #88, #32, etc.

The one and only number that will always signify ND, for me, is 6. The Bus was the very definition of "beast".

YouTube - Jerome Bettis

No offense to anyone here, but when I hear people talk about guys on this team being "a beast", I have to chuckle. Jerome Bettis personified Beast. And he personifies everything that is right about ND.

i grew up wearing 21 in everything (Thanks to Clemente and Prime)

but if i was able to play for Notre Dame i would try to get #3. To me that is the prototypical Notre Dame Jersey

I don't know what number he wore, but this seemed to be a likely enough thread to share this pic of Irish and Viking standout Alan Page. He's now a Minnesota Supreme Court Justice and my favorite ND grad – who also happened to play football.

He has made a habit of planting himself (with his junior high Sousaphone) on a corner near his home on the route of the annual Twin Cities Marathon. He plays "Whistle While You Work" as participants run by.

I love this guy!

I love that number, it's what I use for every sport. I wish George West had done more with it. :)

For ND, it's 3. My number was 23, but then I had to switch for QB. I went with 5. 2+3=5, see what I did there?

25, The Rocket was a stud in college, hands down one of the most exciting players to ever play the game!

My personal number is obviously 20 though...lol I hope Wood comes around!

My number was 1. For ND its 83. The Shark had so much swagger, confidence, and energy. I'll never forget him jumping into the end zone against UCLA and spreading his arms. If and when i buy my first jersey, it will have his number.

83 had played with a lot of heart as well.... I sure do miss the #10 to #83 hook-ups!!!!!

All time Notre Dame number has to be #3. My favorite is #83 due to the fact that my personal favorite Notre Dame player wore it, Jeff Samardzija. My own number varied, and I used to like to change it every year in high school, and college. I wore #'s 3, 33, 61, 99, 39, 1, 7, and 37. Quite a variation.

My number has always been 20, followed by number 9.

For ND, number 3, followed by 81.

My number has always been 29 during baseball in high school and college (for 1 year, b/c I found out I'm not all that good versus real talent)

Notre Dame though: has to be #6. The Bus was a machine. And Theo is doing it justice as well.

I have a 3 jersey. It's an on field authentic. I had a 7 knock off that I gave to my brother.

I wish I could get a 25 in honor of Rocket but they don't seem very easy to come by.

14. First day of little league I wanted 7 but some other kid took it so my dad convinced me 14 was "twice as good" as 7. Worn it every year in every sport since.

1992-1993 was my favorite ND team/era that I can remember so a lot of numbers that stick out in my mind:

6-Bettis
15-McDougal
9-Burris
4-Becton

Denson was my favorite player before Tate and both wear #23..so there's that too.

#3 always makes me remember Arnaz Battle.
