Suikoden II is in my top 10 favorite games. Suikoden V is great as well.
I played Suikoden III on the PS2 back in the day, but never finished it. I'm almost done with the first game, looking forward to starting #2 soon. After that I may go through and try to restart #3 again.

Derail Valley might be the best 40 bucks Ive spent in a while.

Doesn't require a NASA PC to run and the atmosphere/graphics/sound are A+. If you dig trains at all... or even if you don't really... it's worth the 2 hour trial to check out. I find it revelatory.

I actually played the Warhammer trilogy and enjoyed it. Never played 3 kingdoms or Shogun 2 but i did play Troy for a few hours but hated it
Shogun 2 is lots of fun, still the same game style before they went and messed it up with Troy and 3 kingdoms

Troy and the new one Pharoah are made by CA Sofia in Bulgaria so it’s a separate team than the one that makes the other games. They are quite dull IMO

tried getting into Anno 1800 and man it’s super complex without any real tutorial or help. I guess I need to set up a trade route but I can’t do it. I google it and everything is, set up trade route with friendly island’ there’s no ‘press this button in this menu to set up trade route’ also it seems very very narrow in how you can successfully play the game. You must follow very specified steps or your economy collapses,… there doesn’t seem to be a way to just go your own way on it,… oh well.

I’m doing my yearly Castlevania NES grind today,… that will keep me busy

Just finished Suikoden 2, got the good ending following some tips cause I ain't got time for garbage. It was much better than the first game. Characters were better fleshed out, the antagonists were ruthless and strong. The plot was pretty good. While they still at times force you into taking certain party members with you, it wasn't as often as the first game, nor were you tied down to as many characters. The addition of the Convoy section was a nice way to alleviate that too, if there was a vital character that had to join you for plot purposes you could stick them in the Convoy so they didn't tie up a battle spot...a very nice addition. Still enjoy the combat, it's simple and yet can be complex based on Unites, Rune configurations, etc. If there was one thing I think was lacking it's the Major Battles. It's like they tried to expand on the system from Suikoden 1, but most of these battles end up being predetermined and are really a waste of time. It would have been better served in those scripted battles just to not even go to the major battle screen, just do it like a regular dialogue screen with the characters there. Only a few of the major battles require any kind of strategy or effort, it felt like an afterthought at times.

Other than that minor caveat Suikoden 2 is a real gem, I can see why people love this game as a cult classic. I'm not sure where I'd rank it among the PS1 RPGs since there's some stiff competition in that area. I think I'd still put FF7 and FF Tactics ahead of it. I think I'm going to jump right back into Suikoden 3 next. It was the first one in the series I played, but never got around to finishing it. Going to start from scratch and see how the story ties into the first two games.

I've got most of the old games too, played them before From Software was even a thing with Dark Souls, but I'm cheap these days and usually wait for a sale unless I'm impatient about certain games. Armored Core has been on my Wishlist though, waiting for release. Am definitely curious if anyone else has played the new one.

Watched Falcon’s gameranx “Before You Buy” video on it last night. It looks great, appears to have more customization for the mechs than ever, and has satisfying-yet-chaotic combat.

Campaign is only 20 hours, though, so probably appropriate to wait for a price reduction lol
