Does it play like the other games?? Same engine and play style mechanically??
Never really got into Skyrim was in college at the time but I loved fallout 4. This games world and play style is kind of like that but also a lot bigger like each solar system is bigger than fallout 4 and there a lot of them. There is a bit of fast traveling but it’s pretty stream lined. One downside is it takes no time to get encumbered which disables fast travel long making things slow down. If I were to give you an idea think fallout 4 style but with cyberpunk story and looks. But I haven’t gotten far at all so we’ll see.

What exactly is this game??? A planet hopping sci fi rpg?? Skyrim in space?? Are you stuck on one planet?? I’m not sure I understand what this game is fully,…
I just watched my father-in-law play it for about an hour. Skyrim or Fallout in space is pretty appropriate. You're in a space suit, you have guns, you have a ship that you can upgrade or steal other ships. You have companions and quests/missions. There's dialogue options with Persuasion. There's lockpicking and hacking. Supposedly you can build outposts and recruit people to man them like Fallout 4, but I haven't seen that part of it. Looked like a big world, supposedly like multiple Fallout 4 maps between all the different planets you can visit. The one city we visited was definitely big...felt like a lot of running between point A and point B, but there is some fast travel and shuttles to get around the city.

It was great. The other two were greater. Picking Skyrim over the other two is like picking the Empire over the Stormcloaks.

I think I liked the story and mechanics of the game better in Skyrim.

But the side quests and world exploring of Oblivion was >>>>>>>>>>>> Skyrim.

Becoming the gray fox was one of time favorite days gaming as a kid. So cool.

Got FIFA 21 for 4 bucks at Wally world this week.

All the extras and accounts and subscriptions are a little much. I just want to play the game!

Playing the new Madden. The frame rate skips are absolutely insane and I can't understand how a game where nothing really changed from the previous year has this bad of performance issues.

Funny, my buddy has tried pointing out all the changes in this year's game compared to last year as he tries to sell me on buying it again...but much like EA's marketing team's pitch it feels like a stretch. They rarely change much from year to year, and that's why I buy Madden maybe once every 5 years. When they were making the NCAA game? Every year I'd get it because I'm a sucker for college football.

You answered your own question. They know people will buy. Madden has been ass for over a decade.

What I want to know is if EA bothered to fix the bugs in Franchise mode. There were a number reported in the official forums that QA acknowledged but nothing happened.
For one, if you had a player selected for extra Focus xp, and that player got hurt, you were unable to change that Focus slot to a different player until the injured player returned. Basically imagine having the ability to help 6 players you really need to improve on your team, but one gets injured and you're only able to get 5 players extra xp till the injured guy returns.
One of the other bugs involved resigning players and free agency. If there was a former player on your team you were negotiating with going into the off season, but you didn't finish negotiations one way or the other, then one of your free agency spots was unavailable...PERMANENTLY! It extended to every off season going forward, and the lost spots could accumulate. This became a real bitch with a group of friends in our franchise. The first weeks of free agency are the most important because all the good players get picked up during that time. Being limited to just 2 of 5 spots (Or less) made it pretty hard to rebuild a team.
Both these items would have been easy fixes, but EA couldn't be arsed to fix franchise mode because it doesn't bring in extra cash like Ultimate Team.

So Starfield is dizzyingly huge,… almost overwhelming at first. However one big negative stands out,… it’s too easy. Persuasion, stealing, gun fights, exploration,… I mean right from the jump you can unlock everything,… and right from the jump you can murder just about anyone. I don’t like masochistic games but damn this is crazy,… it’s way easier than Skyrim or Fallout

Bethesda has been pushing out easier and easier games to appeal to more people, so not surprising. They dumbed down Fallout 4, took out a bunch of RPG elements that have been there from the start.

I'm holding out on Starfield, at least until Nov/Dec so they can patch/update/balance things a bit more. I'm building a couple gaming PCs and the game is being offered as a bonus for one of the GPUs. Can't wait to play it, I often love Bethesda's worlds. Skyrim and Witcher III hold very special places at/near the top of my gaming heart.

Edited - I know WIII wasn't Bethesda. But Skyrim and Oblivion dominated my gaming time for 3-5 months after their release & Witcher kept me so engaged I started a 2nd playthrough that I failed to finish

Finished FFXVI finally (100%) and here are my thoughts:

I give the story an 8.5/10. It's pretty predictable, but there is definitely some good charm to it. If I was reading a book about it, or watching a TV show, it would be that. I think the Sidequests are not fun at all, very boring, and add very little to the game's overall play and story. The ending of the game leaves a lot to the player's interpretation. These are my least favorite types of endings generally. But the way this one was done is particularly annoying. I am left with so many questions that don't get answered. Very unfortunate. I have to add here: I do love the main characters. They are all very likable and I never got tired of them. Even the villains are good IMO. Well done there.

Gameplay: 7/10. I think the combat is cool. As you gain more powers it was kinda fun to mix and match and figure out good builds. But there is definitely META to the game that makes most of the choices moot. Eventually, you are just trying to finish battles as quickly as possible and there is very little punishment if you use a particular set of skills over and over. It's very easy to dodge, maneuver, and find openings if you have played a Dark Souls game. I could easily beat bosses without taking a hit my 2nd time through the game (which you have to do to get the Ultima Weapon).

Overall: I got to go with 7.5/10. I wouldn't replay it again I don't think, but I'm not I played it. The biggest issue is this game is not a (J)RPG at all. There is no customization. Your choices don't change anything. Your party is stagnant. It's literally the same game every time. There is no way to approach things differently. And you can't really change the combat to be something different. It's a 1 and done. And honestly, if you are a FF fan, just leave it alone. It doesn't feel like FF at all, which is unfortunate.

I will be switching over to Baldurs Gate 3 with the wife, and maybe giving Starfield a chance in my (limited) spare time.

Starfield is absolutely amazing. Im like 100 hours into it and havent even gone to like 25% of the systems, let alone planets/moons. The quests are very organic and smooth and interesting. Its one of the few games I have actually felt like I was in the quest. I have multiple outposts producing tons of resources and I have a main shipping hub already set up with a huge crew and multiple ships ranging from A to a huge ass Class C shipping rig. The main story is very good and interesting as well. Its made me put down Elder Scrolls Online since it came out except for my weekly trial raids, which I have yet to find a game to do that except Elden Ring.

I never realized it but this game has made me realize my daydream goal is to become an Ice Pirate lol

I also bought Diablo IV and was initially fine with it. I wasnt blown away with it. I finished the main story and got up to level 76 before the next season came out and then I realized that I had to do it all over again with a new character and got a minimal new story and had to repeat dogshit quests again just to earn back more renown. fuck that.

I played like the first 30 minutes of Starfield, and it looks and plays great... I'm always too tired at night to try and jump back in though, because I know what a time-sink it will be to master all the different stuff they have going on.

I was also a little intimidated by the options to join certain factions via the character creator, when you know little to nothing about them in the first place, so I did not pick any of those when determining my attributes. Was that a mistake?

Last... did you join the military on your play-through? I checked the "Welcome to New Atlantis" computer registry when you first get off of the train, and it seemed like there were big neon signs around the description of joining the military/security force or whatever it is. It blatantly said "we don't care if you picked a certain faction to start with, anyone can join." Makes me wonder if that quest line is supposed to be part of the intro to the game, outside of the main quest line with the group you join when you get to New Atlantis, whose name I have already forgotten since I only played the one time lol
