Watched Falcon’s gameranx “Before You Buy” video on it last night. It looks great, appears to have more customization for the mechs than ever, and has satisfying-yet-chaotic combat.

Campaign is only 20 hours, though, so probably appropriate to wait for a price reduction lol

I'm definitely sold, but yeah...like most titles these days I'll wait for a price drop. Love that series though, there's something about building a customizable death machine and destroying bots.
I still have the first one on my ever-expanding "to play" list lol

BotW is overhyped. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but it's like a 500 mile long pool that's one foot deep. There's not much story, Ganon in this iteration is a bit weak as an antagonist. If you like gameplay with dungeons, dungeons, and more dungeons it's got that in spades. If you like story and classic characters from Hyrule that leave a mark, it's a bit devoid of that.

I've heard it's more closed off and segmented than other Bethesda games. Is that true?
I’m like 2 hours in but of my gameplay so like 1/2 hr in lol but honestly it’s been way over blown if you like fallout 4 you will love it. I also have not hit any boundary’s yet and I do explore. One thing is there is a shitload to take in but that makes it also more immersive.

Also on my PC the game is pretty stunning
What kind of GPU/CPU/RAM are you running? I'm wondering if a 3070 could handle the highest settings?

I recently upgraded to some really good RAM and a great SSD, which made games like Tarkov run a ton better.

Trying to look for an excuse to upgrade to a 4080 lol.

I'd be fine with that. Open world can be great, but it's not always conducive to good story telling. They start you on a main quest, and then 30 hours of side quests later: "What was I supposed to be doing?" Bethesda typically does open world better than most, but there's also something to be said regarding pacing and cohesiveness in your RPG plots.

Did Starfield have like Tuesday midnight release?
I ask because my millennial/gamer assistant suddenly came down with a summer flu and called in the last four days.

I immediately asked my son what new game just came out?

I’m pretty sure it did for those that pre-ordered the ultimate edition… they got access three days early lol

Yes the game world could be said to be made up of multiple fallout 4 sized maps maybe bigger. There are load screens but honestly what’s 2 seconds people are going to be fast traveling anyway.

3070 is fine but my computer is beefy and love my 4080. I run Ultra setting no issues and with FSR2(no dlss) off. FSR is automatically on when game starts so you want to check your setting but with it off I have test to dip below 60fps and usually over 120fps.

Build

CPU: Ryzen 9 7900x
Gpu: MSi 4080 Gaming x Trio 16gb VRAM
DDR5: 32gb 6000
6tb of NVME

*This game is very CPU intensive a minimum spec build would probably fry I have great cooling but but my temps are usually 70c but 7900x runs a little hot anyway*

Is it pretty good now? I've got a decent PC that can handle it, I've been holding off for a sale.
It's fantastic. It's what Fallout 4 and Skyrim dreamed of. (and I invested hundreds of hours in those too)

I'm running an i9-12900K and 32GB 5600 DDR5 - which I found to improve games a TON. Bought 2TB of top of the line NVME, and man that was a great boost to performance as well. I can't believe I was running SATA SSD and wondering why load times were bad....

Starfield getting some basic reviews, anyone confirm the game isn't what it could have been?

Honestly I love starfield right now. One thing is I’m just going do the campaign first then do everything once NG+ begins. I wasn’t a big Skyrim guy but I really like it the reviews are just wacky and people seem to be looking for clicks.

Supposedly someone is making a mod turning a planet into each of the Bethesda games which will be crazy.

ever read the expanse books? That but a video game
If you’re looking for a comparison it’s difficult because there is just so much and a pretty wide variety. Basically you work for an explorer group that is trying the solve some greater mystery about the possibilities of aloe life out there.

Does it play like the other games?? Same engine and play style mechanically??
