Been playing a lot of Warzone. Got a headset with a mic so I can communicate with my brother and whoever our random third squadmate ends up being.

The key to making it to the end seems to be (1) loot ASAP, then chill until the circle closes a couple of times and/or you get a loadout drop, and (2) have at least 2/3 teammates with thermal scopes on AR's or sniper rifles.

I just can't seem to figure out the key to sniping effectively in this game. Sitting targets, sure, but I can't hit anybody if they are moving, even if they're moving in a straight and predictable line.

Am I supposed to lead them? Not lead them? Lead them more than instinct says?

No idea, but I don't have the full game, so I can't practice in other game modes... realllllly considering buying the full game, now, just to git gud.

No lead really on sniping. IMO Warzone is way better than the rest of the game. Multiplayer outside of the old CoD maps is pretty bad.

I recommend trying the FR556 as your primary. 2 bursts is a down most of the time.

I mainly just want the other game modes so I can grind for attachments on my favorite weapons. Getting an early loadout drop via a buy station with a badass scoped AR or semi-auto sniper is a nice advantage... but that doesn't apply to me yet, as I'm still stuck with stock sites lol.

I'll give the FR556 a try as a loadout drop for a few matches this week and report back.

Finished up my 3rd playthrough of the Witcher 3 (Death March from scratch). Really focused on optimizing the little things (rushing an early Ekhidna Decoction, when to switch from Combat to Alchemy, etc.) Were I still a degenerate student with more time than sense, I'd write an omnibus guide to builds, Gwent, etc. Alas. The benefits of all that wasted time will be conferred only on you fine people.

Also finished up all the achievements for TW3. Some of those were extremely annoying to do. But as the GOAT game, I was obliged to at least do them once.

Rolled into a NG+ on Death March with that full signs build. It's very fun; much more involved gameplay than Combat builds. But it takes a ton of skill points. Even at level 56, with half the mutations researched and ~80 skill points, I'm still a ways away from getting the last two Strong Attack skills.
Will likely come back to it later to finish off the build.

Picked up Shadow of War again, and have almost hit level 80 on my original save file (was 60 when I started a couple nights ago). Will work on farming gear and training orcs once I'm there. Attacking the keeps of other players is a blast.

I like plunder and prefer hardcore maps to base ones,... nothing is worse than some kid jumping and running around like a tornado hitting you mid jump with a rifle once and killing you after you unloaded six shots into him without killing him. Hardcore plays like CoD should. Bullets actually drop you, period and because of this players move much more tactfully. Hardcore on this CoD is what I liked so much about CoD MW2 or even Bond Agent Under Fire... I could never play normal online again and be fine, aside from Warzone.

I find I’m better at Hardcore CoD. It’s supposed to be this mode for ‘legit CoD players’ that newbs and others should stray from but yeah,... I’m not bad but not super good either. I’ve won one death match out of dozens on normal, my kill ratio is .70. Yet, I’ve won like four out of ten on Hardcore and I’d estimate my ratio is like 1.5ish there. It just suits me much better.

You must unlock all the cheats. In particular the Invincibility Cheat (2:05 in Facility on 00 Agent mode) and Invisibility (1:20 on Archives in 00 Agent mode) are the biggest pains in the butt. If you can do that, you will have mastered the game. I did it once for my own cartridge, then again for a friend. I have no desire to do it again lol.

See, it's easier to do it in :53 seconds as oppose to 2 minutes. The 2 minute run you're getting shot a lot more cause the enemies have more time to chase you down

I just remember sitting at doors, waiting for them to slowly slide open while I was dodging gunfire from 2-4 guards cause you don't have time to go around collecting ammo. Plus he's assuming Doak is in that spot each time, cause there's multiple other spots he can show up if I remember. Brutal.

Whiskey and any other Shadow of War guys:

Is this game supposed to be super hard? I am playing on normal mode but it seems like there are hordes upon hordes of Orcs whenever I start a fight. Sneaking around and assassinating some of them first doesn't seem to change anything. There are also these hound things that I can't seem to kill unless it's by pure luck.

I feel like I am missing something big that keeps getting me into trouble. I think I am level 5 at this point. I'm not picking any fights with bosses that are higher level than me but they seem to just appear out of nowhere with 100 other followers and proceed to overwhelm me. It also seems that whenever I clear an area there is no long term benefit to me and I basically have to fight a bunch of dudes again a few minutes later.

I'm fully quarantined. Work has kept me fairly occupied this week and I get my TV/Netflix in during those hours, but 5:30 to bedtime is pretty much nothing but home workouts and warzone... pop in FIFA if I need a change of pace. Send invite if you wanna play this week.

Is this game supposed to be super hard?

It can be challenging at first since you don't have a lot of the important skills that unlock as the story progresses.

I am playing on normal mode but it seems like there are hordes upon hordes of Orcs whenever I start a fight. Sneaking around and assassinating some of them first doesn't seem to change anything.

You're generally supposed to use your stealth and free-running skills to get to the mission area undetected. If you'll need to spend some time on the ground fighting, you should first to clear out all the archers with high ground. It's also usually helpful to clear out some grunts using environmental hazards like Morgai Fly nests, explosive barrels or Caragor cages.

Once the brawl starts, staying alive is mostly about three things: (1) movement (don't let yourself get surrounded); (2) hitting the right buttons when prompted to avoid damage (▲ to parry, X to dodge, sometimes O to stun, etc); and (3) draining orcs to heal yourself. Regarding (3), any orc that's unaware of you or knocked to the ground can be drained quickly by pressing R2+Circle next to it. If your Might bar is full, you can press X + O to combat drain, and if you have Elf-shot available, you can simply aim with L2, highlight your target and press O to teleport to it and safely drain it immediately (that last method is the safest for dominating broken Captains).

There are also these hound things that I can't seem to kill unless it's by pure luck.

Caragors. They can't be stunned, and simply mashing attacks into them usually doesn't work well. They're very vulnerable to charged headshots via Elf-shot, or you can wait for them to attack, time the counter right, and then kill them before they recover.

I feel like I am missing something big that keeps getting me into trouble. I think I am level 5 at this point.

Try some of the stuff I mentioned above tonight and let me know if you're still struggling.

I'm not picking any fights with bosses that are higher level than me but they seem to just appear out of nowhere with 100 other followers and proceed to overwhelm me.

That's part of the Nemesis system. Captains will sometimes ambush you at very inconvenient times. If that prevents you from completing your objective, then just run away. Will ensure you enjoy brutally murdering him later. Though it's always a good idea to go into Wraith-mode and look around before exposing yourself. Enemy captains will often be patrolling, and whether or not you get double-teamed can just be a question of timing.

It also seems that whenever I clear an area there is no long term benefit to me and I basically have to fight a bunch of dudes again a few minutes later.

Enemy grunts and new captains respawn pretty quickly after death. If you're looking to make certain areas of the map safer for yourself, you'll have to dominate lots of orcs there. Once you own a captain and some strong orcs nearby, they should help clear out the area for you.

I forgot to mention that you can keep from getting overwhelmed by aggressively dominating orcs so they fight for you instead. Targeting the strongest grunts to dominate (Defenders w/ shields, Ologs, Savages w/ 2x axes) will quickly create space for you on the battlefield and take a lot of pressure off so you can focus on taking out the enemy captain (or whatever the objective happens to be).

What’s it like to have Whiskey acknowledge your existence outside IE? Must be quite the honor. At this rate I think I could reach out needing life saving blood transfusions and it would go down like:

Whiskey: ‘Sorry, I’m not a match.’
Me: ‘Bro I didn’t even tell you what type I am.’
Whiskey: ‘Sorry, can’t risk being doxed.’

Thanks very helpful. I will probably play a bit tomorrow. I think I missed the whole concept of getting somewhere through stealth.

What do you mean by owning a captain? I think all the ones I defeated were killed. Is there a way to make them loyal to you?

Yes. You can drain orcs by holding O. Can't remember if you start with the skill or have to unlock it through story missions, but you'll gain the ability to "dominate" them via draining at some point. Once you've done enough damage to a Captain, his portrait will turn green indicating that he's "broken", after which you can dominate him and give him orders. A big part of the game later on is dominating strong captains and making them better via Pit Fights, Training Orders, etc.

I knew I could drain Orcs but didn't realize I could do that to a Captain. Good to know, thanks.

Was having my "Best Game Ever" on Warzone solos the other night...

Had 7 kills, and had collected two badass guns from enemies I had downed.

3 of us left, I had a bunch of ammo, cash, 3 extra armor plates, a gas mask, and a UAV in my back pocket.

The circle is closing around the dam... AND THE FUCKING THING CLOSED WHILE TWO OF US WERE AT THE BOTTOM.

Me and the other dude both died in the gas trying to climb the ladder to the top. The one dude who was camping on top won.

I was heartbroken.

My BiL and I play plunder a lot,... we usually finish top ten which I guess is good??? But two nights ago we were in first with a minute to go. Got overtaken but had a 100k contract we finished in the last couple seconds I thought for sure that would put us on top right at the end but nope, still second. That was our best finish.

I wish it would let you see all the team scores at the end instead of your just place.

Last night we encountered this ‘god glitch’ thing, at least I think... we were battling a team of three, just the two of us no third teammate in Farmland and I head sniped one,... didn’t fall. He rushed me so I switched to my M4 and lit him like a Christmas tree... nothing and he just runs up and stabs me. My BiL takes out his two buddies from a farmhouse but this same dude just strolls up to him, taking shots the whole way and he knifes my BiL too... we were a bit frustrated but laughed if off as bullshit but then woke today and he found some article talking about this glitch,... whatever.

So on CoD Plunder I like to go off the beaten path and just collect tons of cash, tend to avoid large parties and hornet's nests etc. I do however get a kind of sick enjoyment from seeing a party, dropping a bunch of mines and such and then just unloading on one party member then dipping out before they know what is going on... me on Plunder:

I'm still heavily into Monster Hunter World, downloaded the Iceborn expansion and I'm having fun with it. It's not too heavily involved from a plot standpoint, but the combat is absolutely great and at times quite challenging. In those tough fights you have a real sense of accomplishment when you finally capture or slay a creature that's been giving you trouble. Then you get to take it's innards and make new armor out of it

I also downloaded Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night yesterday on a sale. It's made by Koji Igarashi, creator of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and it's very much a spiritual successor to it:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/N6ofXOMrUQE" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Check out the 8 Bit mode, ACamp! I found an 8-Bit coin in the dungeon already, but I'm not sure how to switch it over just yet. There's also a 16 Bit and 32 Bit coin, but I haven't seen any gameplay or how those come into play.

In any case, it just feels and sounds very much like old school Castlevania. I've been playing it all morning and it's been a lot of fun. Greyhammer, I haven't forgotten about Hollowknight. I see it's down to $15 now, but I'll certainly be pulling the trigger soon. I'm sure there's a Spring Steam Sale coming, and it's at the top of my list with Cyberpunk at #2.
