cool thanks...

Warzone is also free to play and download for people who don't own Modern Warfare, aka me.

I'd imagine I would only be Minor Trash instead of Big Trash if I had experience with Modern Warfare, but I don't, so I'm baaaaaaad right now.

So what's everyone's Xbox gamertags? We are all about to have a lot of time on our hands.

Pffft, PC > PS4 > XBone. Get the first two, forget the last one.

Well with the upcoming lockdown of our country i'll need some games to play. Guess I will play Dragon Quest, been eyeing it for awhile. I have high hopes for it, as I do almost any JRPG. It'll be my first Dragon Quest game though, so I'm intrigued if I'll end up liking it or if I think it's too dated for me.

I really wish that FFVII had come out on the 3rd like it was planned to. Would have been perfect.

I'm sure you probably saw it, but ACamp and I were discussing Dragon's Quest quite a bit a page or two back. If you have any questions, let me know. It's very old school as far as JRPGs go, and that's part of it's charm. It uses the tried and true formula of turn based combat with some added tweaks to make it interesting, like the "Pep" system that can unlock combo attacks and abilities/buffs. If you haven't watched it, check out that video I posted from Tim Rogers of Kotaku. It provides some great exposure to the game in a somewhat humorous way:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/4iTbUGItU0s" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Hopefully you're getting the Switch version if you have that console, but if not it's no biggie. The differences between the Switch and PS4/PC versions are somewhat minimal, mostly just a handful of optional quests and the addition of the 2D mode which is more fun for people that played Dragon Quest on the NES and SNES back in the day.

Yeah I saw it, and really appreciated your guys’ thoughts and discussion. In fact, other than Kakarot (a personal choice made when it was first announced) I have only played games that came from this discussion board. And your discussion pushed me over the edge on getting it next.

Got the switch version. I’ll start playing it tomorrow finally. Really looking forward to the old school turn based fighter.

Yeah, from what I've seen it's closer to the SNES Dragon Quest games rather than the NES ones, but I'm okay with that. It's a fun little option I wish I had in the PS4 version. I would have paid extra for it.

Played Warzone again last night... this time I played for like three hours lol.

A few matches I got eliminated almost immediately trying to duke it out with other squads, a few matches I got good squads with dudes who knew what they were doing and took care of me and we placed pretty well.

I think I'm definitely going to play best as a camp-and-snipe guy lol. Patience will be a virtue.

I also need to get a mic so I can communicate with my teammates and find a good sqaud to play with consistently.

Shit's fun, though. The thrill of pinning an enemy down with sniper fire and waiting for him to poke his head around the corner of a fenced-in house is exhilarating.

Omg it takes literally like a whole day for everything in CoD to download and update... core campaign is good, Farah is pretty smashable for a war lord. Haven’t done multi as it’s still freaking downloading

Dragon Quest is great for my girls and I,... wife was even watching intently. I can tell this is gonna be a massive undertaking though.... Played quite a bit but feel like I haven’t done anything yet.

The game can take as long or as short as you like. The nice thing is you don't have to do a lot of grinding if you don't want to. How far in are you?

Something else I forgot to mention: If you've gotten it already, the Mini Forge can be a lot of fun. It allows you to craft or improve your weapons and armor. In the beginning it can be difficult to get "+3" items, but if you fail you can always throw them back in the forge and improve them again (Usually easier once they've already been partially improved, say to "+2"). As you level you'll obtain more striking techniques and focus to make the process easier, but of course higher level weapons and armor will require more skill to perfect them to +3. I loved hammering on my gear in the forge, there was something very satisfying about getting that "Perfect" on the screen when you got good at it.

After four sessions, I'm fully addicted to CoD Warzone. Their ploy is working to perfection on my easily-impressionable mind, as I now find myself wishing I could switch gears to regular deathmatch play at some point.

I played a quick match at lunch time, and my teammates both died almost immediately after dropping in separately and to different sides of the map (noobs).

I went lone wolf and got a couple of kills, then had to hunker down as a team of three started to try and pinpoint my location at the end of my firefight.

They got distracted by a firefight with another group, so I high-tailed it. I noticed a lot of enemy vehicles moving around, so I grabbed a rocket launcher on my way out of the building.

As I'm trying to get to cover, a big transport truck comes flying around a corner right for me. I stand still and present a sitting target, then switch to my RPG and destroy them for a triple-kill, easy peasy.

It was fun to get a nice, easy triple-kill, but the real joy was hearing their reactions on their mics as they had to watch the kill-cam.

*Uncontrollable Laughter from All Three Dudes Audible on Mics*
"HE HAD AN RPG!"
"A FUCKING ROCKET LAUNCHER?!?"
"MY GO-"
*Mics Cut Off*

Yeah I've just played around with the forge. I made about four basic items but that's all I have recipes for. I'm right at the point Veronica and her sister join you.

On 2D: It seems you can't go to a save point and just do it. You have to go back a chapter or time it perfectly where you switch to 2D right when you start a chapter... otherwise you back track in the story... think they could have handled that a bit better. Makes me not want to switch unless i time it perfectly which so far I have not been able to and I am not aware of a way to know when a new chapter is starting. Even that may not matter though and maybe 2D always require you to go back in the story..... idk

An old buddy of mine and I have recently started playing oldschool Halo multiplayer on the PC through the Master Chief Collection. Super fun times but man I am terrible. I'm the guy who 17 year old me would've asked to get out of my lobby.

Went through the same thing when the MCC came out for the XBone, and I had one of those before I switched to PS4.

I thought I'd jump back in and pwn noobs with sword and shotgun... I don't think I got more than 10 total kills before I gave up on multiplayer lol.

I played Warzone over the weekend. My friends I intend on playing with were not available when I was and vice versa so I just jumped in with strangers,... here is my experience:

Training: Very basic CoD stuff aside from the loot boxes, I complete it thinking, “I’m good,… I got this!”

First game: I air drop into this game with seemingly 3 dozen others having zero clue what the objective is or anything. I see enemies close to my intended drop zone so I cut my chute intending on landing on a building before dropping the hornets’ nest,… miss the building, die before even taking one step.

-I am then suddenly “In the gulag”???... and have five other players just randomly beating the snot out of me from five different directions,… I die. Why this happened or what the intent was I have no idea. I guess the game just wanted to hit home what a gulag bitch I was....

-I am then given another ‘chance’ (at what I have no freakin clue) by taking on someone in a one on one in the ‘The Rock’ showers map from MW2. I think “This is good, I know this map and am skilled enough, I can-“ I die in like three seconds.

-I am then auto’d in with my original team from my first attempted air drop…. My two level 40 something team mates are running around like crazy (why??.. no freakin clue) but I figure, “They know what they’re doing, it’ll all become clear once I-“ and I die.

-I watch my teammates get massacred multiple times while spectating and I become convinced, these two suck really, they have just played this mode more than I have. Once I get my feet under me I can contribute to these two…

-I get airdropped again by some train depot. Teammates are nowhere to be found but I do see others running off in the distance. “Ok, let’s get in the fight acamp!... let’s go kill these-“ snipped from a mile across the map, dead.

-My teammate loot boxes me back in and they continue just running around like crazy with them (Why is still a complete mystery). They are running in this random building and I’m in the rear when I notice the other team coming around the building to flank us, I stay put. The other team comes around the corner and I unload, “Surprise mother fuc—“ I die.

-This goes on three separate times… and I realize I have more CoD lives in this mode than a freakin cat but none of the needed patience. “Fuck Warzone”.

Good memories from undergrad. The original Halo is the only FPS I've ever played where you'd drop any rifle available for the M6G, a crazily overpowered sidearm:

Finally getting around to Shadow of War and I love they way they used the speakers on the DualShock.

I played the shit out of that game. Found it to be much more entertaining and replayable than its ratings implied. The Nemesis system is amazing, and garrisoning each fortress with your toughest orcs was fun. Would have played online a bunch if the exploits weren't so bad.

One of the main reasons it got mediocre reviews was because it came out right after Battlefront II when everyone was pissy about microtransactions and loot boxes. They fixed all of that a few months later, but the damage had been done. I picked it up on Black Friday 2018 for $10 before I even had a PlayStation.

One of my favorite dynamics is the way dying is integrated into the storyline. You can be playing a totally immersive game like Red Dead 2, fall off a cliff, die, and then... respawn back at your campfire like nothing even happened. I like the way Shadow of War acknowledges that you died and then there are consequences in the world.

I started 'Shadow of Mordor' two different times, loved it both times, but never finished it for some reason.

(Was I attracted to it because it's like if LotR and Assassin's Creed had a baby? Who can say?)

Does 'Shadow of War' have the same mechanics in terms of open-world exploration and some climbing/parkour thrown in, or did they do away with the open-world areas in favor of the siege mechanics?

The Nemesis System is impressive. Plenty spend hundreds of hours just grooming invincible Uruks/ Ologs and raiding/defending fortresses at the end game.

All the best stuff about SoM is here, but it's been expanded upon. Much more open-world exploration, AC-style free-running and stealth are still very prominent (especially on higher difficulty settings), with the combat being most similar to Arkham Knight. Should definitely add it to your list of promising quarantine time wasters.

Gonna buy it for 8 bucks right now. Big LOTR and open world fan so I assume I'll like it.

I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Welp, I wandered out of the video game thread... that was a mistake. I'm never leaving again. lol.

I just downloaded Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, from my PSPLUS library last Sunday. I am hoping I can fire that up tonight. I have only played the original. Never played any of the sequels.

I've gone all the way down the rabbit hole with CoD Warzone.

I ordered a wireless headset with a mic last night, because I got frustrated that I couldn't shout "LEFT LEFT LEFT" to my teammates as we got outflanked in an apartment complex.

I AM getting better, finally.

I'm probably averaging a whopping FOUR kills per match now that I'm figuring out how the map works and how to best arm myself as the match progresses.

I finished in 5th place in a solo last night with 6 kills. If I wore an Apple Watch, it probably would've pinged a warning about my heart rate as the circle closed and I got into a firefight with two other people. Fun stuff.

I was thinking of downloading it. But I have to clear out the HD space for it. I heard its a MASSIVE download file.
