From the memes and videos it looks like this game is very depressing
Depressing? The game is hilarious! Great game to play with buddies, I've been running a couple crews late at night. At this point I've got all Strategems unlocked, all Samples collected, I just have Medals to get to unlock some minor things in the Warbonds. Even with everything pretty much unlocked I'm having fun just running missions with friends.

Had some great missions tonight. We failed one mission that had 3 Stalker nests on Suicide difficulty, never saw that before. Having 6 Stalkers up at a time was just murder. Got several missions done though and pulled out 12 Super Samples for the crew. This mission was particularly messy, love it!

I finished Dragon's Dogma's Post Game last night with 121 total hours logged. I spent probably somewhere between 15-20 hours in the Post Game alone, absolutely loved it. I would have kept exploring, collecting treasure, and fighting bosses just for the fun of it in Post Game, but you kind of reach a point where they say "Ok, you're done, get out." It's not forceful or anything if you've done all the quests, it's just more like...it gets really tough to hang around in Post Game at a certain point so you pull the trigger on the end game cutscenes. All the Post Game quests were done, so nothing major was missed. All I missed out on was amassing even more treasure, which can be done later.

The game has a New Game+, which I'm already looking forward to. I've got a few quests I missed the first time around, so I want to hit those, and there's more gear to grind. There's probably a number of unexplored places I have yet to hit too, I have yet to get the "Visited 50 dungeons" achievement done, although I feel like I've done a decent job exploring most of the world.

Overall I'm extremely pleased with the game. Rather than try to deviate a lot from the original game, Capcom mostly stayed true to the original and that isn't a bad thing because the first game was awesome. The story even has a lot of parallels to the original, but it's unique enough to be it's own thing. It's still a shame people were review bombing this gem over misinformation and bullshit. I did run into performance issues in two very specific areas of the map, but it was very localized and avoidable, and there were no issues at all if I turned off God Rays in settings. I never had as much trouble with this mission as everyone else. The remote plane missions though...

The Vice City mission with the RC helicopter setting explosives in the new construction building was touuuuuuuuuuugh

The CJ/Train mission has a crazy cheese option that I never knew about that I've seen going around on Instagram reels lately. There's a little bridge with a ledge right at the beginning. If you drive up that, you can just wait patiently for the train, drive ONTO the train, and then just line up behind the bad guys and take them all out in order really quick.

Yeah, I don't remember having a lot of issues with that one either, but I do seem to remember a lot of time spent with the remote planes. I also seem to remember spending a bit of time to get Gold in the Flight School so it would give me the Hunter chopper. Other than that...I remember being distinctly pissed off halfway through the game when you get double crossed and lose all your gang territory. I spent a shit ton of time building up and taking over every single block of gang territory I could up to that point, only to lose almost all of it because of the scripted storyline. Pissed me off to no end.

I really miss having the career options for the taxi, police, ambulance, etc. It was so fun doing all that stuff and unlocking access to better gear. I feel like there's much less emphasis on that stuff in the newer GTAs.

Oh man, now you're triggering some bad memories of trying to survive 12 levels as Paramedic on GTA III for the Infinite Sprint...white knuckling the controller as the seconds ticked off in those final drop offs.

I'd love to go back and play those on Steam, but the removal of significant portions of the soundtrack is really hard for me to get past. Maybe I'll raise the jolly roger one day and emulate them.

I've still got a working PS2 and backwards compatible PS3, but at this point I'm so lazy I've been emulating PS2 games on my computer rather than hook the systems back up. If you have a halfway decent computer it'll run a PS2 emulator.

Steam doesn't have the soundtracks?

Large portions of the original radio station playlists aren't in the Steam version games due to copyright. Lots of the most iconic tracks were removed. I believe all the MJ and Van Halen songs were removed from Vice City, and San Andreas was really gutted. Since half the point of those games is driving around and listening to the radio, it's hard to stomach.

100%. If I can't listen to Panama while driving around in my generic 80s Lambo rip off, is it even worth playing?!

Not gonna lie though, the talk radio in Vice City, and to a lesser extent San Andreas, was some of the best shit they ever did. "All the bunnies are stabbing each other!"

I know nothing of this title. Is this worth getting into? I’m pretty much loving my first experiences with games like Balders gate and Elden Ring but never played the previous games.
I'm not sure I'm the best person to speak on the game since I just got into it a year ago, but I enjoyed it immensely. It's got a fantastic story with some great characters. It's a bit like Skyrim without the magic, it's very true to the historical Middle Ages from a combat and culture perspective. It's a fairly large world with various towns, tons of quests, and a lot to explore. There's also a morality tracker, and there's repercussions for your actions so quests can be completed a few different ways with different results.

The game doesn't really hold your hand, I feel like the learning curve is high to begin with, but it eventually gets easier. The combat is much more realistic than other RPGs. Don't expect to be able to waddle into a group of enemies and come away alive, especially in the beginning. Until you get good at the combat, and until you get outfitted, you may find yourself running a lot from 2 or more enemies. There is a stealth mechanic, just don't expect to be backstabbing everyone and get away with it. Town guards are more observant than other RPGs in my opinion.

I was doing a Balders Gate Honor Mode Run with a few friends and we made it all the way to the House of Hope and we paused for a few minutes for a potty break when you meet the Incubus. One of our party was like hey yalll mind if I go ahead and start the dialogue with him and get through this and we all said cool.

By the time we all got back the incubus was now a succubus and was banging our Party Face hard (lmao) till he died and it wiped the group. End of Honor Mode. THis fucking game is too much lol
