Did some Twitter reply digging.

'Fallen Order' might have:
- Some wall-running/parkour
- Maybe a stealth element that is emphasized as you are a Padawan trying to stay hidden in the aftermath of Order 66
- Single-player combat where you aren't just spamming force abilities
- You actually feel like a Jedi because you have to be able to parry in combat, rather than mashing attacks
- Game will look like Rogue One/Solo, aka you're gonna see shiny new Empire style everywhere
- Will have occasional visuals like the prequel trilogy, which I assume will be when the Padawan is searching for Jedi stuff in the backwoods
- Not open-world, but not totally linear, either... maybe a mix of "Uncharted" and "Far Cry" in level design?

So Sekiro.

Everyone is also pumped that it's being made on Unreal Engine 4, rather than EA's traditional Frostbite, but I'm unsure of how that affects gamers, tbh

A few years ago EA started a corporate mandate that, in order to recoup/justify the costs of its development, all/most games developed by EA developers would be made on the Frostbite engine. Frostbite looks really pretty, but the issue is that DICE is apparently the only developer who actually knows how the engine works because they made it. It's famously difficult to develop on, particularly if you are trying to make anything other than an FPS. See: Everything Bioware has tried to do on Frostbite in the last seven years.

It just makes it less likely that this will be yet another EA development hell story.

So basically it not only makes the developers' jobs harder, but it largely results in games with limited style and usability for the gamers. I understand now. I have almost no knowledge of the back end of gaming.

I'm really struggling with Horseman 9. I'm doing it in plenty of time but can't get it to trigger completion.

Various tips I've gleaned online and from my attempts:
  1. First buy a horse care package at the stables north of Van Horn. A golden stamina core for your horse is very helpful.
  2. You need to make sure you see the "Van Horn, [Time, Temp]" notification before starting. You get one every time you exit a stagecoach, so buying a ride to start is a good idea.
  3. For the route, head south out of Van Horn. You can either cross the Kamassa via the rail road to the west, or via the bridge to the southwest (just north of Bluewater Marsh). After that, set Flatneck Station as your waypoint and try to take the most direct route possible without getting into rough terrain. Once three, you'll cross the Dakota via that railroad bridge. Then you'll head northwest, up through Strawberry to the north side of Lake Owanjila. Ride south over the dam, go southeast through Tall Trees, and then it's an easy ride to Blackwater from there.
  4. If you dismount or fall off your horse, you fail the challenge automatically. 17 minutes is actually more than enough time to make this ride comfortably, so don't feel like you have to be slamming horse stimulants and riding at full gallop the whole time. You'll be much better off slowing down through tight turns (like the switch backs in northern Tall Trees) than risking a collision with a tree.
  5. Once you've got a good route planned, the hardest part of this challenge is surviving the bounty hunters that jump on you in Tall Trees if you attempt this during Chapters 1-6. But since you're in the Epilogue, you won't have to deal with it.

I'd guess you're failing due to either (2) or (4). Good luck.

Nope, that's exactly what I'm doing. The only thing I can think of that MIGHT be messing me up is Dewberry Creek, but I'm 99% sure I'm not touching any water when I go past it.

I don't know how bad the bounty hunters are in #5, but there's still an ambush in the Epilogue. Usually it's about a dozen Skinner Brothers lining the canyon walls near Tall Trees and then they follow you on horseback through Beecher's Hope.

I'm timing the whole thing on my phone and I'm doing it in about 15 minutes real-world time.

It's not the only challenge that's felt buggy. Weapons Expert 2 never saved after I had completed it, so I was working on Weapons Expert 3 and wasting loads of Tomahawks, not understanding why I wasn't getting credit.

It does seem buggy, since lots of people struggle with it for odd reasons. Some have speculated that running into a gang encounter causes the challenge to fail, but others have managed to complete it by just riding away. Maybe try triggering the ambush and clearing the Skinners first?

Some random dude on IE told me that 100% completion was hardly worth it so I basically gave up on the harder challenges.

You mean kill them all before I make the final run to Blackwater, or before I even start the run in the first place? If I try to clear the ambush first it's going to be 30 minutes round trip to and from Van Horn.

I've also been an idiot and not saved before starting the run, so I have to get my ass back to Van Horn to start over every time I fail. I'm early-Epilogue poor and I've spent all my money on stagecoaches.

I wish there was a way to tell the game "I'm starting this challenge now," and a stopwatch pops up on the screen and gives you a "failed" message if you do something wrong.

Geez Wiz, play your own game, pay your cable bill, and enjoy the weekend.

All video games worthwhile are challenging. Figure it out.

Koon: Don't ask for video game advice, do it yourself!

Also Koon: Hey guys, how exactly should I plan my 401(K) and how do I know if my wife is ovulating?

It's not "challenging," it's bugged. I've completed the task with the necessary skill required by the game. I'm trying to get the software to recognize it so I can move on to the next thing.

I took your bad advice and turned everything around. DM me if you want some advice.

Wisdom. You get a cool outfit that offers some decent buffs, but ain't worth it unless you're compelled to 100% games like this.

Before you even start the run in the first place. Each gang has a fixed number of random encounters that can occur in their territory. The compendium tracks how many you've experienced. Clearing that particular one should ensure it won't happen when you make your next run. I didn't see any Skinners when I did mine.

I've also been an idiot and not saved before starting the run, so I have to get my ass back to Van Horn to start over every time I fail. I'm early-Epilogue poor and I've spent all my money on stagecoaches.

Finish John's storyline. It'll fix your resource problems. No reason to struggle with it now mid-Epilogue.

I wish there was a way to tell the game "I'm starting this challenge now," and a stopwatch pops up on the screen and gives you a "failed" message if you do something wrong.

Agreed. Most other challenges track your progress just fine. But the few that don't (Herbalist 9, Horseman 9) can be a massive pain.

The next Assassin's Creed is gonna be Vikings. I am undecided on how I feel about that.

I finally finished Odyssey a Tuesday night. Or at least I think I did. I eliminated the Cult, loved that cut scene that followed it. And then I wrapped up the family quest, and was pretty underwhelmed with that. I was expecting more with the family members to be honest. I absolutely love the game as a whole. I only have a 3 trophies missing so I will prolly try to get the platinum and then start all of the DLC.

I am really bummed the next game isnt Ancient Rome. I wanted that so much more than Vikings. If it is Vikings, my only hope would be that we have to start our own Viking colony from scratch. But I have no faith we would get anything that cool.

Microsoft just announced a digital-only Xbox One S. Smart idea, but nobody is going to buy it at $250.

This would be appealing, but the total reliance on internet for downloading (and streaming with Microsoft’s next gen) is a no-go for me in my current neighborhood. Our internet service is bullshit.

I’ll probably be getting the PS5 because Sony generally has better exclusives, and also because they’re still committed to physical discs. I am very excited to hear about how they’ll be using built-in SSD’s to improve the speed at which everything operates... that’s good news for people who choose to use discs and play backwards-compatible games running totally via console power, rather than streaming.

They say a fast-travel on Spider-Man takes 15 seconds on a PS4 Pro, but takes 0.8 seconds on the first PS5 builds. It also elevated the speed at which you can operate within the game, meaning Spider-Man could web-Sling at warp speed, and the environment holds up. I’m very interested.
