The Last of Us episode three… holy shit what a good one-off.

Never played the game, but I get why they need that kind of content to build on the narrative. Put some meat on the bones of the show.

Wanted to play the game ahead of time, or at least along with the show, but I think I’m just gonna wait and see what happens in the show. It’s nice not knowing what comes next.

Watching second season of Hunters on Amazon. It's ok.

Stayed home yesterday with 2 of my sick boys. Had a Dreamworks cartoon marathon. Kung Fu panda and How to Train Your Dragon are all fantastic cartoons.

Recently I’ve watched:

Severance - 10/10 would recommend. Such a creative idea and it hits.

Defending Jacob - 8/10. I found Chris Evans’ character and the plot line with his father a little farfetched—but it was entertaining.

Mayor of Kingstown - 5 episodes in and I am really enjoying it. Renner is very solid. Great concept/adaptation.

at this point i'd hold off on playing the games. maybe once this season is done

I decided to give That '90s Show a look tonight hoping it captured some of the magic of its predecessor. Good lord, it's flippin' AWFUL! It had every chance to be good, but the dialogue is embarrassing to listen to, it's so bad, especially the kids' scenes. It's straight out of some of the worst Disney or Nickelodeon kids show like Camp Kikiwaka. It's the corniest, laugh-a-second sort of forced, over acting, little kids humor imaginable instead of any truly funny stuff like we got from That '70s Show. MAJOR disappointment. I was really wanting to like this show, but it's bloody awful.

Your post got me curious, so we watched a few episodes last night. AWFUL is an understatement. Having the old cast pop in for a 15 second cameo was a bad idea.

Same. I thought it would be good w/ the original cast members but those actors playing the kids are horrible.

Watched back-to-back docs by Mark Cuban & Co. on Amazon.

first was “The Smartest Guys in the Room” about Enron scandal.

second was “The China Hustle” about backwards mergers w/ American shell companies in order to get Chinese companies on the stock exchange for a pump & dump. Really compelling stuff.

I just finished Loudermilk. Only three seasons so far (covid interrupted production), but the producers are saying they believe they can get everyone back and maybe have a season 4 in the next year or so. How did this show fly under the radar for the most part? Very good cast with a ton of relatively unknown character actors playing oddball and funny bit parts. Great storylines and character growth, plus it's just funny as hell at times. House fans would love its sarcastic, biting, smart ass humor. Highly recommend.

I'm watching the 10-part 1986 South African miniseries Shaka Zulu. It's really good and exceptionally well done. Hard to believe it's more than 35 years old. The cinematography is so good and looks completely modern. There are several familiar faces in the cast. This is one of the most watched miniseries ever, but I'd somehow missed it, though I did read the book it's based on years ago. It goes well beyond just Shaka's life and delves into his family and tribal history that shaped him, and gives a good, balanced look at what was going on with the British colony of S. Africa at the time and how the Brits viewed him and attempted to deal with him.

The music of the S. African natives is so good (there's a reason Paul Simon did the Graceland album). Different rhythms and scales, but that makes it very interesting. It usually feels very upbeat and almost sounds like laughter set to music. It's hard not to smile when they're singing. Anyway, great all-around series and I'd highly recommend it.

I will have to watch this. I just got done watching North and South. Lots of familiar faces in it as well.

Im thinking of watching Rings Of Power since I like LOTR.

Watch the two movies Zulu and Zulu Dawn, both great movies.

Everything Everywhere All at Once was incredible.

Laughed my ass off throughout. Tons of creative visuals. All the performances were great, especially Ke Huy Quan. Highly recommend seeing it on the big screen if it's still available around you. Probably my favorite film of the year and I hope it wins best picture. I'm trying to watch everything that was nominated this year. I'm through 40/54 so far, Everything Everywhere is at the top of the list.

I loved Severance. I didn't know it was planned to be multiple seasons. I thought it was a miniseries, so when it ended the way it ends I was flabbergasted lol.

I actually did end up seeing it, there wasn't much else out and we were catching up with another couple on a double date. We decided on that movie because of the hype you mention...I have to tell you, I don't understand the critic hype at all.

It had some funny moments, and as you'd expect, VERY gory, more so than I even anticipated. Certainly meant for a target audience. I didn't mind the movie and gore doesn't bother me too much, but there are certain people who may find it appalling, as you'd expect from a movie called "Cocaine Bear" lol. 6/10 from this very amateur movie critic. You'll be just fine waiting for it to stream, not missing much.

I watched it this weekend. Really liked it. What a sad, heartbreaking story, though. Not surprised Frasier is winning so many awards for his performance.
