We're going to "Brew at the Zoo" tonight. The brewers list is enormous, 60+. Three hours, unlimited sampling, and my wife got a DD ticket. Should be a good way to close out summer.
That sounds awesome. That being said, I would not be shocked if we see a news story coming out of Connecticut about a drunk man getting into an animal exhibit.

Today was my last day at Apple. Monday starts the new job. Coincidentally, Twin Liquors is having their big dollar sale this weekend so I picked up a few things. To celebrate I'm having some Lagunitas Sucks now and will open some goodies later.

Bell's 30th anniversary Imperial Stout. It was bottled exactly one year ago 8/29/15. I still have one more bottle aging.

I was considering opening my bottle. Do you think it's worth the extra year?

I am not sure it is going to get much better. It has added a nice caramel and mocha note and smoothed it a bit but I don't think that it will get much better. I will probably open my last bottle when it cools down more.

Fair enough. I'll probably open my bottle on Sunday then

Opening the college football season with a growler from our local brewery on Satuday. Firefly Hollow Brewery, trying to decide between Lizard's Breath IPA and Strange Quark IPA.

The Lizard Breath’s massively hoppy profile tells the quintessential story of American IPA. This brew showcases the bold and dank characteristics of Columbus and Simcoe hops, and is balanced by the soft citrus and floral nature of Palisade and Mandarina Bavaria. Look for big impressions of ruby red grapefruit, pine, and earthy resin with hints of tangerine and herbs. A full and toasty malt presence provides a soft balance while accentuating big, bright hop flavors. This brew is clean with just enough body and sweetness to balance the hoppy blast that is the Lizard’s Breath.

ABV: 6.6%
OG: 16.4
Grist: UK Pale Malt, German Vienna
Kettle Hops: CTZ, Simcoe, Palisade Mandarina Bavaria
Dry Hops: CTZ, Simcoe, Palisade

Blissfully saturated with hops. Cloudy, and explosively flavorful. Flavors of ruby red grapefruit, lemon-lime, mango, and tropical fruits crescendo into a moving bitterness. Finish is grapefruit pith and tangerine with a hint of toasty malt.

Simply Enjoy

ABV: 6.0%
Grist: UK pale malt, Cara 55, Special Roast.
Kettle Hops: CTZ, Dr. Rudi, Simcoe, Chinook
Dry Hops: Moteuka, Citra, Dr. Rudi, CTZ

Both sound pretty good for different reasons... why not get a growler of both? Enjoy them over the course of the weekend?

I went to a bar after work for "one beer." Somehow I received a bill for 2 pints of Harp and a Jailbreak Big Punisher DIPA. I'm still investigating how this mysterious course of events came to pass.

Got back from Denver last night, unfortunately had nothing that was that great out there. Had a buddy pick up a couple build your own 6 packs before I got there, unfortunately nothing was outstanding.

Highlights include:
Odyssey Beerwerks Psycho Penguin Vanilla Porter (this probably tasted good because it was at the end of a 10 hour car ride)
Westbound and Down Seven Sister's Stout (really cool brewery in Idaho Springs)
Dry Dock Brewing Company Apricot Blonde

Worst beer of the weekend was Wynkoop's session ale. Had some decent beers there the first time I was in Denver but this one was just bad.

Hey guys. Hope all is well. Just a quick drive by but I have been keeping up with this thread and been drinking my standard fare still. I have purchased several new bourbons that I have not had before and I found them to be very good and wanted to pass on:
Old Weller Antique -damn good wheat
Weller 12 year- poor mans Pappy 23. About as close as I have ever had to pappy 23
Old Weller 102 proof - damn good wheater and strong too.
Baby Sazerac whiskey. Excellent rye. Smooth and tasty. Definitely worth the money on the secondary market.
Elmer T Lee bourbon. Very good for the price. One of my new favorites as a daily drink. Hard to find here though. Had to get this from an ABC store in Virginia.

To top it off I had my fantasy draft tonight which was also a bourbon tasting lol and had a few samples of the following:
EH Taylor small batch. Excellent. Heavy nose but smooth drinking. Liked it best neat.
Eagle rare -10 year. Not my fav. A little too sweet for me but most people love it.
Four Foses Barrell strength- Excellent Excellent Excellent
Pappy23.... There really is not anything like it.
Blantons gold. Blantons is just my favorite hands down. This is yet another Blantons product that does not disappoint.

Anyway. Y'all keep on keepin on. Go Irish. Beat Texas.
