Alright yall...I need some input.. we have a new Bourbon Bar in Charleston. Right now this is their menu. I have had several on here but there are many I havent had. Any recommendations? I will be going to this lovely place in the near future.

I'm not a guru of bourbon. But I've always been of the opinion that one can do a lot worse than Basil Hayden's. Buffalo Trace is a nice drink, too.

My farher-in-law and I went out for drinks today, after lunch. Victory Hop Devil Nitro and Victory Sour Monkey both on tap. I grabbed a 32oz growler of Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin to have with dinner.

ETA: For lunch I had Duck Confit Hash.

Not a fan of this. It just tastes like rootbeer and it is cloyingly sweet. Chick beer for sure, gave the rest of my sixer to my wife.

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if anybody can tell me what some of the best west coast beers available in Portland, OR are. My sister lives there and I want her to bring me some beers I otherwise wouldn't have access to. Is Sculpin available there? I assume Fresh Squeezed is around. There's got to be others. Thanks in advance.

So I've been on the hunt for anything 3 Floyds, and had no idea what a big deal it would be to find any available in my area.

I checked their website to see the beers and where they had been distributed in the last 30 days, called and/or visited each retail place, but had zero luck.

In retrospect, I feel like a fool asking around everywhere. They were probably like "oh great, another noob that has no idea how rare this sh*t is."

Anywho, apparently there is a decent-sized release happening at the big wine/liquor outlet near me tomorrow morning. I was told that I should get there an hour early to make sure I can get in line and get my hands on the product. Are Zombie Dust and Gumball Head worth the wait?

My greatest fear is that I get there an hour early and still don't get any lol.

This is funny. I went to Youngstown, Ohio, last weekend, pulled into a good beer shop and asked if they had any Three Floyds, and he said he'd just sold his last Gumball Head an hour earlier. Should have been there an hour earlier!

For my part, I really love Zombie Dust. I also like Firestone Walker and Sierra Nevada Torpedo, but I do think Zombie Dust is better.

I was in Vermont last week and went to a bunch of different local brewers. My favorite was the Witbier at Fiddlehead Brewing Company.

Beer | Fiddlehead Brewing | Shelburne, VT

I also picked up the summer variety pack from Magic Hat. I had the "Stealin Time" last night and enjoyed it. It was a little flatter than I would have preferred but it was a good summer beer that felt almost like a shandy.

I grabbed a 32oz growler of Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin to have with dinner.
Small point, growlers are 64oz. What you got was a howler.

I found a glitch in the Matrix!

I found a small, local beer/wine store that gets pretty frequent (but very small) shipments of all things 3 Floyds. To make a long story short, one of the fine gentlemen at the store hooked me up, and put some product on hold for me when their shipment came in yesterday.

No fuss with the "release day" crowd now. Don't know what I did to deserve this wonderful karma, but I'll take it!

Yes she should be able to get Ballast Point Sculpin and Deschutes Fresh Squeezed in Oregon. Ballast Point has some other great beers if they are available such as Victory at Sea and Dorado Double IPA.

Here is a list according to BA of the best beers brewed in Oregon. Top Rated Beers: Oregon (US) | BeerAdvocate I have heard good things about Cascade Brewing's Wild Ales, as well as Boneyard brewing (I am pretty sure that they don't bottle or can though) and Hair of the Dog brewing company.

I have enjoyed Elysian Brewing (they are from Seattle Washington) Space Dust and Dayglow (though most of their other beers aren't that interesting).

If I think of some others I will let you know.

Kind of true. It has lots of names (from growler to howler, to grumbler, etc.). There is no universal name for it just variations by where you are in the country. Here is a link to beer advocate about it. 32 oz. growlers -- What do YOU call them? | Community | BeerAdvocate

Though I did mistype because technically what I got was a Crowler.

Not a Rouge fan I take it?

They aren't horrible but I think that they are overrated. My favorite beer of theirs is Brutal IPA, Dead Guy is ok, Yellow Snow IPA is ok, 7 Hop IPA is ok, though their Chocolate Stout does get great reviews (but I haven't had it in a long time and I remember liking it but not loving it).

We've got some Rogue nonsense that comes in a pink bottle and is donut flavored I think. Haven't been able to pull the trigger on that one.
