Tarpley and Anderson announced they were coming back to "Nerd Nation" already actually.

Of course they are. Because that's how Stanford rolls... no injuries, no bullshit, and top NFL draft picks/generational QBs come back optionally for additional years.

I can't do this anymore.

But what if the guy who blows up at the combine is Niklas? His ceiling is as high as any in the draft, would we not agree?

But yeah, coming back guarantee him a 1st/2nd round pick. I still think he can go 2nd though.

I think he will absolutely crush the bench and be amazing measurable wise. But I don't think he will put up a good 40, and he is not great laterally.

Is it not a fair question? This shit isn't normal. One or two little incidents is normal but something is legitimately fucked about this program.

Players going to the NFL is incredibly normal at successful programs, even doing so a year ahead of time.

He got a 2nd-4th round grade and the 2nd round is where Rudolph went. Seems, to him and his family, that he's ready to give it a shot.

Guys usually come to ND to graduate.

Going to the NFL doesn't mean you still can't get a degree. Not saying it is likely, but it also isn't unheard of. Clausen legitimately just did it.

I'm obviously not Kelly's biggest fan, but blaming him because his players are going pro is absurd. Niklas is going pro because he's going to get paid a hell of a lot of money starting this summer.

There are only like 3 players on the team that I would rather have than Niklas next year. This ducking sucks.

Yeah but he said YESTERDAY that he's staying. Not "we'll see." Not "I haven't decided." Something happened, don't doubt it.

Players come to Notre Dame because ND prepares them for a career after college better than 95% of other D1 schools. That is whether their future is in professional football or in the work force. Niklas spent 3 years here, found what he was qualified to do, what he would get paid a lot of money to do, and he took it.

You can say, "Oh his draft stock would have been higher if he came back for his senior year", but that's not necessarily true at all. We saw our D-line get obliterated with injuries that could potentially hurt Nix's draft stock. Te'o might have gone higher in 2012 than he did in 2013. A lot of players come back and see their stock die.

And one of them is Elijah Hood.

Initial reaction was jumping off the cliff.....but this.

On the upswing, as a good program, maybe recruits we would normally lose to football-factory-U might consider ND as a place to both get a good education, and, if all pans out well, go early to the NFL since there is a) precedent b) an open spot at TE

Just an observation here. That graduation rate has got to take a drop this year. Not sure how I feel about that.

So jumping to negative conclusions is the smart thing to do?

"Benefit of the doubt" evaporated somewhere between yelling yourself purple on national television and ditching the Alma Mater after a home loss.

I believe for the GSR that as long as he is in good standing when he leaves he doesn't count against us. Same thing with Tuitt and GA3. As long as they are in good standing and on pace to graduate in time they don't count against you.

Holtz yelled as much as anyone. Saban and many other coaches do the same. This was a dumb controversy.
