I picked up 2 bombers of Stochasticity Project Grapefruit Slam IPA (Stone Brewing) today. I will be opening one of them later tonight.

Ok about halfway through the first bomber. Lots of grapefruit flavor (more peel and oil, not the sweetness). Not as bitter as I thought it would be but it is still plenty bitter. Some people think that this beer is basically Stone Ruination with grapefruit peel added. I could see it though the grapefruit peel sort of takes over the beer and makes it one dimensional. Overall a good beer worth trying but it does fall short of my expectations.

Had some Ovila Abbey Quad. Good stuff. Kinda like a fusion between an IPA and a stout. Would definitely take the edge off freezagedon.

Went to Portland, OR last week aka Craft Beer Capitol of the world aka my future residence.

So. Many. IPAs.

You could drink a different local beer every day of the year and never crack the surface of how many are brewed in the area.

Anyways, loving the Lagunitas SUCKS right now, I just wish it wasn't just a seasonal beer...

Wife is experimenting making cocktails for the next drink menu at her place.

Here's a good one:

Vodka, sage syrup and lime juice. The sage syrup was made using a native sage growing in our yard.

It's really smooth and earthy. A bit herbal but not super sweet. Kind of like a way better version of Fernet based cocktail. Sounds weird but it tastes freakin great. I'd mail you one but it might not travel well. Haha.

I finally tried Sassicaia last night at a company party. I liked it, but it didn't blow my socks off. Now, I will say that I had been drinking other reds prior, and I knew that may affect the taste. I tried to clean my palate with some crackers. It was also sitting near a fireplace, so not ideal serving temp. I'd like to give it another try under optimal conditions, especially if it's free.
