Last weekend I went to a whisky tasting where I had
Russian River Pliney the Elder (yes not a whisky)
Bowmore 1968 32yo
Ardbeg Provenance 1974 26yo
Malts of Scotland Lochside 1967 44yo
and many others including a couple of Longmorns, and a Braevel.

Has anyone tried Pierre Jaques? What do you think?

Or batch 19? suprisingly good for a beer made by a general manufacturer

Do you mean the Pere Jacques from Goose Island? If so it is pretty good. Their Sofie is really good and Matilda is pretty good. I found Pepe Nero to be weird.

Batch 19 is much better than the Big 3 even though it is made by one of the big 3. I just wish it was a little cheaper as I can get some really good craft brews for a similar price.

The Provenance was great, definitely one of the 2 best Ardbegs that I have had. Rich in flavor with a nice smokiness but not over the top peat. The real eye opener though was the Bowmore 1968 32yo, it was just an amazing whisky with tons of tropical fruits, some oak, some sea air/salt, and a wonderful soft smoke.

Give old forrester a shot. Very very similar to woodford reserve

I did enjoy Old Forrester when I tried it even though I don't like Woodford. It's been awhile so I can't say what I'd compare OF to. We got some more in at work so I guess I should drink some more so I can say for certain. We're going to use the OF to make another batch of oak barrel-aged manhattans, this time with some apple cider reduction.

Stone 17th Anniversary Götterdämmerung IPA on tap with dinner. Oddly I prefer it from the bottle.

Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial Stout. Time to start breaking out the winter beers. Lots of roasted malt, some cocoa, licorice, and caramel. Overall a very good Imperial Stout.

Deeside Brewery MacBeth. Bought it from the brewery in Aberdeen, Scotland in August. Excellent IPA style.

I think it is ok. Not what I expected from Stone and I passed on buying more. I am glad that I tried it but not a beer I will be buying again (I think I gave it a mid 80s score). What did you think of it?

Knee Deep Brewing Midnight Hoppyness. Nice roasted malt, grapefruit, other citrus, pine and just a little coffee. Overall a really nice black IPA.

About the same as you...just ok. Probably wouldnt have it again. The regular IPA and Ruination are way better.
