Sierra Nevada Old Chico Crystal Wheat. Sierra Nevada has been brewing all kinds of good beers for as long as I can rembember.

Bluto, what do you think of the Old Chico? It is probably the only Sierra Nevada I have not had yet.

Really nice wheat beer. Much lighter than anything else Sierra Nevada does and goes down easy but it still has some of that same bite/hemp flavor associated with their Pale Ale. Good beer for all ocassions/seasons.

Seems to me Cali is going through a beer renaissance right now. In the small town I live in I can get Pliney the Elder, various roggenbiers, dunkels and ale aged in whiskey casks all on tap.

I love me some Pliney the Elder. Have you had any of Russian River's Sours? If so what do you think of them?

Saison Dupont for me tonight.

Any idea how I can get Pliny the Elder (or Younger) in Michigan? I'm really intent on trying this beer!

I can get a very wide variety here... But I often haven't even heard of beers mentioned on this thread... And I've mentioned some that no one seems to have heard of conversely

I haven't but Ive had some German style sour beers and they are pretty sour. Kinda like sucking on Oxalis (sour grass) if you've ever done that. Lol. Good but kind of a weird experience. Definately not for beginners but oddly refreshing on a hot day.

I'll be at the USC game so I could hand deliver some. Pliny the Younger might be tough to find. Let me know.

I've been trying to get Yuengling in Cali for 15 years. Haha.

Tried Talisker 18y last Saturday. Didn't like it-- very oily, and too much smoke for my tastes. But I don't like most Scotches anyway, so TIFWIW.

Immediately switched to Blanton's and was very happy for the rest of the night. Dropped in price to $35/ bottle at TotalWine. That stuff is like candy.

Reminds me that I've got a bomber of that FFF Oktoberfest beer at home ... can't remember the name of it ... anyone tried it? I'm excited for it.

Munsterfest? It's good, I wouldn't say it's one of their best beers but it's a solid B+/A-

Russian River Temptation. A blonde ale aged in French Chardonnay barrels. A very nice sour. I think I prefer Supplication and Consecration more. Still very glad to be having this beer tonight.

I have to admit that I love Talisker 18. Nice fruit, soft peat, some good wood smoke, some sea salt, some black pepper and just enough malt to hold it together. I also really enjoy the oily texture. One of the best drams on a crisp fall night.
