Hope you guys enjoyed these threads all year. Will do it for the bowl game(s).
I woke up from a nightmare this morning. Toby Gerhart and McCaffrey were starting a "White Stanford Running Backs that Almost Won the Heisman Against ND" club.
**shivers**
VanGorder puts together the best defensive game plan since Texas, players rise to the occasion, BK puts Kiser in the position to win.
30-19 ND
I think the KVR injury is gigantic. He's been extremely good against the run, and better against the pass than most realize. The type of coverage him and Luke are asked to play is extremely difficult.
That injury -- to me -- almost guarantees a few more breakdowns this week than we're used to seeing. It means Stanford is going to make more plays in the passing game than they should be able to... which means picking up more first downs. It means they'll have an easier time running to the perimeter, which is where McCaffrey excels.
I just don't see how ND holds Stanford below 38 points or so. Can ND score 40+? We've done that 4 times, and only once on the road. So I'll say Notre Dame loses 38-31 on frustrating defensive breakdowns.
They're 107th in RZ defense. We are 10thActually Stanford D is solid in the redzone. Yoon will be needed most likely and he's been on fire. Maybe 38-34.

I don't think the KVR injury is a s big this week as it would against another opponent, I mean who would we need him to have covered? Stanford doesn't have a receiver with over 500 yards.
Sellout to stop Mccarfrey, I think thats the key. He is the 2nd leading rusher in the nation and the 2nd leading reciever on his team. Wouldn't mind having Jaylon to shadow him the whole game, on blowing up the run and covering him if he goes out for a pass.
ND wins 31 - 27
Standford is a good team, but I think we are better. BVG will dial up the D. I think we start slow on offense, then pick it up in the second half. I agree with Irish#1...we have been looking forward to this game....and we will be ready.
On a personal cruel twist of fate, I in all probability will not be able to watch the game due to my wife making plans to go to a couples dinner that night. We have been married a long time, she knows this is a big game, I can't figure out what I have done to piss her off...
