July always seems to drag on because it's the last month before football is back in full swing. Recruiting talk slows down in August and we get to talk about what brought all of us here, Notre Dame football. We are 48 days away from the first Thursday night game, and it can't here soon enough.

I basically made this thread for anyone who wants to talk about some football. There are some games that are building up to be real good ones...

North Carolina @ South Carolina
Ole Miss @ Vanderbilt
Purdue @ Cincinatti
Mississippi State @ Oklahoma State
Alabama @ Virginia Tech
Georgia @ Clemson
LSU @ TCU

I know it's only the second week of July, but the wait is killing me. The teams I put in bold are the teams that I think will win.

Week-by-week guide to the best college football games of 2013 - ESPN

Perfect timing on this thread arrow.

I was reading the above article today from espn and it got me super pumped about how close football is to coming back.

I can almost smell the autumn air.

Read this today too. Can't wait.

I'm looking forward to Bama vs. A&M in week 3, cause I think its going to just be a blowout. Saban just doesn't lose to the same team twice in a row. Pretty sure its only happened once since he's been at Bama (LSU in 2010/2011).

Wow. Just double-checked. He only lost to LSU twice in a row in 2011/2012, and to Florida twice in a row in 2000/2001 when he was at LSU. Don't see A&M winning this year.

There is always a dork horse to make some serious noise in the BCS rankings. Last year it was us and Kansas State. Who do you guys think it will be

I'm gonna go with Baylor. Texas, OU, K-State, and West Virginia will all be unproven to me, giving Baylor a great shot at winning the Big 12

South Carolina'
Vanderbilt (Great receivers this year)
Cincinnati
OSU
Bama
Georgia (could go either way)
Lsu (as much as I hate this team and everything about them I feel there is virtually no chance they loose this game)

Purdue wins. They have a coach now.

*Just saw the spread is UC by 14. Guess Purdue has a coach now, but still no players. I however, stand by my pick!

I'm looking forward to Georgia @ Clemson and LSU @ TCU the most. I would like nothing more than for two of the top SEC teams to lose out-of-conference week 1 to kick off the 2013 season.

Outside of watching the Irish take the field again I'm looking foward to Georgia @ Clemson the most.

If by some miracle Va Tech and UNC both managed to represent the ACC with wins I'd do backflips

That's what it will take, but Bama could brush it off, run the table afterwards, and still hoist crystal in January.

VTs defense is really loaded this year [on paper anyway] but/and Beamer has finally bitten the bullet and replaced most of his offensive staff [Frank Beamer is an unusually loyal man, sometimes to the detriment of the program]. That offense, even if the over-rated quarterback begins to properly function, is bereft of proven playmakers and will be displaying new concepts [with their usual learning curves].

The only real chances that VT has in this game are if:

1). their defense stuffs Alabama and turns them over; [this could happen];
2). the fact that new systems are coming in thwarts Saban's ability to game them beforehand;
3). the VT QB doesn't throw interceptions and hits a receiver now and then.

Low-scoring game at home?? Not impossible.

I don't know how you can leave Tuitt's fumble recovery off there. There can only be maybe 3 humans in college with that size that can run like that.

LSU didn't impress me last year, I think Mettenberger stinks, and LSU won't have Jeremy Hill (their best running back) because of a suspension.

TCU returns 17 starters- 7 on offense and 10 on defense.

LSU returns only 12 starters- 8 on offense (only 7 for the TCU game) and just 4 starters on defense.

This was sort of an upset pick for me. The game is at TCU and it looks like LSU will have an inexperienced defense.

My gut feeling is TCU with a score of 23-17 or something like that
