Lets not forget our good friend, Mike Gibson, over at https://templefootballforever.wordpress.com/. He's not quite as looney as usual, he's not predicting a win this time around (Thinks it'll be a lower scoring 17-13 Irish win), but that doesn't stop him from theorizing how the Owls COULD run the table and wind up in the playoff. In 2013 he thought the Owls had a very good chance to upset the Irish with 300 variations of half-back passes, and in 2015 he was sure the Temple defense wouldn't budge an inch to Kizer and our offense.

I typically am a little hesitant to call a lopsided victory, especially with a team hosting a new coach that we won't have any tangible film on, but I feel good about this. Lot of positive vibes coming out of camp, coach says everyone is locked in and mentally prepared. The team is playing in a renovated ND stadium for the first time, crowd should be pumped too. I think we get up early and take the wind out of the Owl's sails, then don't look back.

100 - 3.
Realistically I'll say 35-10.

...But...what if they get a low altitude funnel gunnel...I've seen it at the airport a hundred times...

ND 42, Temple 17.

Temple will get a couple early scores, as one of their 3/4 QB's will be all jacked up to play in South Bend and win himself the job on his two first-half drives.

The ND defense comes out in the second half and shuts down Temple's newfound QB behind Elko's halftime adjustments, and ND cruises to a nice win, dominating the third and fourth quarters.

Book gets two drives in the fourth, and TJ Jr/Dex salt the game away as Eichenberg, Ruhland and Hainsey get some PT on the OL. Studstill will make a big play in garbage time and everyone will be calling for him to start at SS with Elliot sliding to FS.

The offense looks good enough even if a bit inconsistent. The running game shows promise as the Irish tally over 200+ on the ground. BW finishes 13-24 185 yds 2 TDs but has his moments of youth by throwing one pick and nearly throwing another as his tendency to force the ball shows.

The defense gets three sacks although the DL doesn't impress against a lesser opponent in Temple. One half of the LB corp looks ready to compete at the highest level. The other half needs a little work. The defensive backfield was serviceable but not challenged as Temple's QB' struggled to find their rhythm and accuracy. Special teams looked improved but doesn't leave one with that confidence the group has turned the corner. The boys in Vegas know their stuff....

Irish by 30. Last season is forgotten. Looks like a completely different team thanks to Elko and the good juju from having Ara on the helmets.

Temple lost a QB that has a shot at an NFL career - they had 3 players drafted and six more sign free agent deals. First round DL and second round OL - that is some talented beef off their depth chart.

Our guys come out itching to smack someone around. I think we roll but get a false sense of confidence versus a green team still looking for leadership.
