Sorry for another post folks, just wanted to MAKE SURE of at leasttttt one thing....

The new Fiance wanted a fall wedding, but is 100% on board with a Notre Dame Bye week wedding! I just wanted to MAKE SUREEEEE that what I read is correct/finalized. Our bye week next year (2019 season) is in fact 10/19/19, Correct???

(Any other suggestions or helpful information would be much appreciated!)

Hahha I mean id prefer not to miss any games, also she wanted more of a Fall wedding. So bye week , if actually 10/19 would be pretty ideal

Correct my if im wrong SouthSide, but id ASSUME that the Sept 7th bye, is just that way till we fill it with an opponent ? I dont recall a bye week THAT EARLY in the season?

We open the season on a Monday 9/2.... so we have a bye week that following week cuz typically you don't play college kids on short rest

There are 52 Saturdays next year. That leaves ~40 Saturdays without ND football. I don't think that's too much to ask of a wife. It's God, Country, Notre Dame.... then wife. She has to understand these things.

Schedule it for a Friday if either of the bye weeks doesn't work for you.

You save money, AND you can watch ND before you head out on the honeymoon.

My wife and I got married on a Friday in October. Spent Saturday packing and relaxing [watching Notre Dame beat Navy], then left for the honeymoon on Sunday morning.

Had to watch the USC game the next weekend while on the honeymoon, but I had that planned to work out, as well.

Don't do a fall wedding. Even if you schedule it around Notre Dame, chances are other people will be glued to football at your reception.

You mean just like I am at everyone else's fall weddings!!?? hahahaha

Ya I hear ya, but seeing she is requesting the fall wedding (and I love the season as well), we may just have to deal with it. Deff makes sense though

However scheduling a Friday wedding forces all of your guests to take a day off of work and forces your wedding party to take at least another half day assuming you do a rehearsal dinner the night before.

We only had a few out-of-towners between friends and family, so it was mainly a consideration for our wedding party, but yes you are correct.

We did a late rehearsal dinner at a bar so as to not screw up schedules too bad.

Definitely more reasonable under your circumstances. I know that if/when I get married I will have a significant amount of out of towners so it's not really an option.

I'd imagine Greek Gods would have quite a lot of out of towners.....

We had some fun with our Fall (November) wedding. Granted it was the day of the Miami game, but we won't go into that. Me and the guys got ready while watching college football, which was great. I was able to catch most of the first half of the ND game. Even our marriage officiant made a couple wise cracks about the game and our fandom for ND. It was a pretty big hit with the crowd, as they know us quite well. Instead of having our guests sign a guest book, we had a fairly large wooden ND sign (navy color with gold trim) that guests signed in gold pen. Also, a huge hit as they hadn't seen that before. An even bigger hit at the house as it hangs in our entry way when you walk in.

Lol exactly... before I was married, we were at a wedding and all the dudes (including me) were crowded around the bar where there was some important game going on a small TV and my to-be wife was like “there is absolutely no way we are having a fall wedding.” And now with how easily people can get games on their phones, it’s just asking for a whole lot of bad manners.

If the bye week doesn’t work out, I recommend putting it in early September as the overall slate of games is usually pretty light around the country then.

If I was planning a wedding I'd confirm any schedule/bye dates with the ND Athletic Dept or S.I.D. rather than rely on a website. Keep in mind ND's ACC schedule is a product of the ACC not ND.

Best wishes for a stress free (as possible) wedding and a happy marriage.

Make sure you got at least 5 years with her under your belt, make sure she has common sense, and above all else make sure you look at her mother and say ... Yea I'd do that In 40 years.
Other than that Screw the game and fall worries. It'll probably end up raining that day anyway. Go all out and wait until Christmas Eve...

Don’t forget all the pre ceremony planning and logistics and how all that might conflict with games.

BEST advice I've seen.

It's a single football game.....if that's more important than a wedding date...you are not ready to be married.
