I approve of the hire...not that any of the coaches care.
Say it loud and proud, my future beer drinking buddy!

Even though they could care about our "expert" opinion, I do have an observation to make about this hire. Even though Brian's hair is nothing like Harry's, this hire "looks" to have the same feel as Harry Hiestand's hire, to me.
Here is a guy that could have some marginal spots on his resume, that has an unbelievable ability to inspire and motivate kids, see and share a vision, and make sure the work gets done.
And politically, with the talent that Brian Kelly is trying to keep together on the defensive staff, this may be a home run, on that basis alone. Brian V has that much age and experience that the young staffers have something to gain by working with him, and of course Brian VanGorder is the kind of guy that works with you, and you would want to work with, and he can work with a guy as young as Scott Booker, (I know he is "O") and as mature as Bobby Elliott. (BD and BE obviously had a great relationship. BK is proving he can "not fvck with the chemistry." too!
Oh, and PS : Maybe he moves because he has so aspired to be a head coach. I have heard in the business that it is "move it or lose it," when a coach is a hot commodity. So maybe he moved to head coaching position's and though a great DC was not ready to be a great HC (cough, Bob Diaco, maybe) and then back. And maybe he has not always been great at selecting positions, and been tempted by the challenge and the money, (Auburn '12, he had to do it for love of the game, because he would have been the only one that didn't know Gene C was on the way out!)
