As I am starting to pack for my spring break trip that starts Saturday and wishing this week would speed the hell up, anybody got any sweet vacation stories or trips that they have gone on over the years?

A couple years back, friends of mine got married. For their honeymoon they went to mexico for a couple weeks. However, the first week was just them two, the second week was a group of our friends... Extraordinary! It was a blast, every night we had a different theme and it was a ton of fun. Go on vacation with a group, it's fun.

Going to Jamacia. With my wife. For our Honeymoon.

Over a year and a half after I married her. It's going to be awesome.

Well, it's different strokes isn't it?? My favorite vacations probably sound whacko to most. I've been up in the Great Pyramid, walked the Amazon jungle, Flown over the drawings of the Nazca Plain, got spit on by a Galapagos Iguana, swam with the sea lions, had a "special" chance [about a hundred people] to see Pope John 23rd, and a bunch of other nice things. Whether any of that appeals vs. a "good time" vacation at a seaside resort or in Vegas, I guess for most it doesn't. I liked them, however.

Neutered: If you go to the Great Pyramid, there is a guide who will lead you up into the higher inner chambers by a steep ascending stairway. The chambers are bare [i.e. no hieroglyphs] but because of their nearly 5000 year-old existence have an "atmosphere" about them.

Depending upon how many people want to come up, you are allowed to spend more or less time there. I cheated and didn't return to the base and spent some rare "private" moments with the place. It was irrational of course, but seemed to have a thrill about it for me.

Similar feelings can be gained down inside the more elaborate tunnel tombs in the Valley of the Kings [where you can spend a lot of time soaking up the striking hieroglyphs all over], or standing next to the Memnon Colossi or some areas of Karnak or Luxor. And I'll stop my blabbering there though Egypt contains much more of Awe. Hope they settle the modern madness down so more of we citizens of the world can experience it.

I grew up in a lower class southern california family... that means my 'vacations' were to Vegas... as and adult it's been hard to imagine going elsewhere... hard to explain...

long story short, I'm going to Vegas for spring break... lol

Vegas is awesome. Been once, and never need to go again (spent 4 days with my wife and another couple). That's how great it is. I could eat at "Hash House a go-go" every day for the rest of my life.

I've been to Jamaica twice on all too brief stops on cruises. It's been years, but there was a place that served up some great jerk chicken and pork a short walk from the pier in Ocho Rios that I recommend. It wasn't on the "official" list of tourist stops but offered a great feel of local ambiance. You can sit at a crude bar drinking Red Stripe beer, absorbing conversation among local residents while watching the chicken and pork cooked on an open pit fire. And then eating it – yum-yum HOT!

There were chickens strutting around and little marijuana plants growing here and there. I spent the better part of an afternoon with a local singer/musician who was impressed that I knew more about Caribbean music than Harry Belafonte's "Kingston Town."

Have fun you two!

I'm going to Australia in April for two weeks. My girlfriend is studying abroad in Sydney for the semester. So it was a given that I was going to go visit her. I got the time off from work and Im heading Down Under in less than 4 weeks. Should be a blast. I've already reserved my rental car to terrorize those in the land of OZ!

Sydney is an awesome city. You must look into "Bridge Climb" (Walking the arch of the Sydney Harbour Bridge). It was an amazing experience.

Yeah my girlfriend did that the first week she was there. Hopefully she'll want to climb it again. I know for sure we r flying to Melbourne and driving the great ocean raid for 3 days. Other than that I don't have a set itinerary! I'm just excited to have 2 weeks off of work! Lol. Any other suggestions?

A couples resort called Negral. Negrel? I dunno. Something like that. My wife did all the legwork. I'm just providing the currency to fund it.

That's a city

Costa Rica is the best vacation I've had. You can just disappear for a week. Pacific side.

Bumping this old thread.

Heading to Pensacola Beach for a few days in October with the family (pregnant wife and 3 yr old daughter). Any "Must do" or "don't do" suggestions?

Also got me excited for some upcoming trips that in the early stages of planning, but not yet finalized:

Fall 2020: WDW-Animal Kingdom. This got pushed back because of Baby2
Summer 2022: Golf stay and play, 10-year anniversary, Scotland (Trump Turnberry & St. Andrews Old Course Hotel combo package)

CDMX was the bomb, I'll definitely find a way to get back. I definitely gotta brush up on my Spanish tho before returning, because not nearly as many people spoke English as I would've expected in the touristy places

Just booked a ten day trip to Budapest and Vienna in September. If anybody has been and can give me a heads up on things that are must see or wastes of time I would appreciate it.

Pretty sure they’re a ways away from Budapest but if it were me I’d try to hit up the Carpathians and maybe even Bran Castle if possible....

First thing to do is get to Prague. That might not be doable on this trip depending on time.

The easiest town to include is Bratislava on your way to Budapest.

I'd highly recommend Salzburg, absolutely beautiful city with lots to do.

Bratislava is incredibly close to Vienna.
