Meh. Does nothing for me. If there is one position you can count on for LR, it's QB. He has always developed them, always recruited well. So that won't change. It doesn't change the blind spots for him either. For a coach that too often relies on hero QB play when the going gets tough, bringing in a mind that does it even worse is the definition of an echo chamber.

Now, if Kliff joined Michigan, I would feel much differently.

Lincoln Riley can't spell DC if you spot him the D. The Trojans better put up 80 points per game if they expect to do anything. Riley's teams don't play D. They put up about as much resistance as Riley Reid when the pizza delivery guy shows up.

Apart from that, I'm wondering what Kingsbury is going to analyze for Riley about offense at SC in 2023. They have Caleb Williams.

Apparently KK is burnt out and wants to be in LA for his girlfriend. This is a glorified sabbatical year to exchange ideas with Lincoln Riley while he recharges his battery and figures out where he wants to be long term.

Tech gave him $1.95M to go away. His Cardinals contract was through 2027 and guaranteed.

Money is not an issue and he's likely not in any rush to get back into the NFL if the Cardinals are paying him for the next four years if he never coaches again. You'd have to assume his next stop is NFL OC. There really is no reason for him to go back to the college game considering all the changes that have happened since he left it. Although maybe some of them would be to his benefit this time around?

Somebody will hire him, but he should not be and probably isn't in any kind of rush to get back.

I guess when you look at the results, you can call him a failure, but the guy is going on 44 and has basically cashed in for all the money he'll likely ever need. He could still potentially get an NFL OC job or a P5 HC job and wind up doing pretty well.

If we're being fair, The entire Cardinals organization is a cluster. If they are not the most dysfunctional NFL franchise right now, they're top 5 easy. They hire the HC of Texas Tech who'd just been fired with a career record of 35-40. They give said coach a contract extension after year 3. He goes 4-13 after a season full of injuries and they fire him.

KK seems like a good enough guy. It's hard not to wonder if he rode the opportunity of being under Kevin Sumlin with Case Keenum and Johnny Manziel as far as he can go though. I think it was all too much too soon. TT was his first HC job at 33 and he probably wasn't ready. He was TAMU OC for one year and they blew it up, so Tech hired him likely because he was an alum.

Dude is just an interesting guy when it comes to his resume and trajectory.

No doubt, this has been going on ever since guaranteed contracts became common in college and pro sports. KK will have no problem finding a new spot after his USC QB gig. He’d be foolish not to accept big money if it’s offered.

I can’t remember off the top of my head if it’s the same guy, but isn’t he the UGA player, who would be a starter on UGA this year, who played at like 3 different HS in 4 years, and now is looking to leave (as a starter) the 2 time defending national champ, for a pay day.

I'd imagine the pitch would be something like this: "Unless you're an All-American or All-Conference player as a true Freshman they will get the best player in the portal at your position every year and you'll be riding the bench your entire career."
