Remember David Sills?

Remember David Sills?

Five years after committing to USC, David Sills finally becomes college QB

Even though Sills had been committed to USC since the seventh grade, he was being recruited by and had drawn scholarship offers from several other programs.

To this point, the story of David Sills has been defined by what other people have said about him. At various times over the last five years he has been the next big thing, everything that’s wrong with college football recruiting and a major disappointment.

Now the disclaimer, I've racked up a bill almost 3 times that size with a party roughly one third the size he claims, but we were sailors on shore leave (and def. buying drinks). Not a fucking reimbursable "business meeting". Plus I bet he wasn't there all day. I think we each wound up paying out a little over 3 bills, before generously tipping. Which was more than Cutty Sarks "service fee". But who knows how much cash he threw [stuffed] around after his tab was squared.

My booze hound nose is itching. Homeboy's a drinker.

I don't doubt he is a drinker but look at that drink variety. Your telling me he is hammering a couple beers then all of a sudden he wants a Cosmo before 40 tequila shots? There's other drinkers at that party.

I love how this small mistake by Sark is turning into people shitting on him and USC out of no where. Story is way bigger then it should have been but I'm enjoying every moment of USC being shown in a shitty light.

But it IS a big deal. I've been to that event...lots of families with kids, lots of big money donors. It's always a huge event. It definitely has a festive feel, but as the face of the program, you have to act with some decorum. Acting like a frat boy on a drunken binge? Slurring your speech? Cussing in front of kids and stuffy-ass donors, to the point that the AD has to escort you off stage?

In this day and age, it's not only embarrassing, it's unacceptable for a man in his position. And it's not the first incident with Cutty and alcohol. He deserves all the criticism and more. I'd give him another chance of course, but there are consequences to acting like an idiot, and he's suffering them big-time right now.

So he's going to rehab right? Doesn't that beg the question of whether a recovering addict fresh out of rehab should be charged with the health, safety and well being of almost 100 college students? If he truly has a problem that warrents rehab he should step away from coaching and focus on his recovery right?

...you'd think so.

The older I get, the less comfortable I get with authority figures getting smashed in front of their charges. I've seen it, and when I was 20-30 I laughed.

Over the years, I've come to see the issues it causes with authority/discipline...Add in the college kid factor...thats a bad deal. What parent would want that shit around their kid? Rehab is a great idea...leading young men immediately after...shrug.

I thought he should have had to sit a game...Hayden's call.

Agreed. He should sit at least a game. Hayden is not holding Cutty accountable. How do they hold their student atheletes accountable??

he stated he DOESN'T have a problem that it was just the mixing of his medications and alcohol but that he is going to go for treatment...sounds like he isn't there just yet, meaning rock bottom....he is going through a divorce right now and being through one(although i wasn't going to be paying millions in my divorce) it takes a real toll on you emotionally...unfortunately or fortunately it happened on the worst day possible for him

Seeing this report on ESPN and his little speech about how this could be a good thing-smh. He's an embarrassment. Watching him and seeing the schmucks to his right sit there and look with blank stares. Wow!

I recall the group thought that Hayden moving from the booth to being the AD at USC was going to put some class in this program. Not seeing it.

Nor am I. But then again, the problem isn't Haden---it's intrinsic to that program. It's a dirty program, attracts people of low quality, and that's always been the case.

Ex-USC linebacker Morgan Breslin says school misled him on disability insurance

A former USC linebacker is suing the university, alleging school officials guided him in purchasing a disability insurance policy that turned out to provide inadequate coverage after he was hurt.

Morgan Breslin filed the complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging breach of contract, fraud and both intentional and negligent interference with prospective economic relations. The suit filed Friday seeks unspecified damages.

Let's remember, if SMU hadn't been handed the death penalty, USC would have the record for most years under NCAA sanction. They are currently second. Traditionally, it is dirtier than all but one NCAA school. With that in mind, is it any wonder that Sark can be drunk as a skunk and throwing out the expletives while stand (ok, wobbling) in front of USC players, administration, boosters and other coaches - really nothing too earth shattering.

It's very simple. People in southern California only care about baby seals and looking pretty. Everything else is a minor nuisance that can be easily ignored.

I wonder if there will be cameos by the agents, hookers, drug dealers, and bag men from that era.

Narrated by Petros Papadakis

His nasally caveman voice makes Mayock's lispy tattletale voice sound tolerable.

I like Petros on the radio... He's an LA version of Mike North or Dan McNeil. His partner, Matt "Money" Smith was born in East Chicago Steelie... but he's not a true Lake Co. Region Rat as he's a Cub fan and went to Pepperdine... Cubs and Pepperdine, what a combo, probably drinks Stella too.

My question is, does Hell-A even deserve a good football team? They had 2 chances with the Rams and Raiders and they f*cked it up twice!

Sports have changed, the NFL has changed since they all left in the 90's. LA gets 17k and 19k a night for two hockey teams over 41 games, you think they won't get capacity for every home game... regardless of how big they build the stadium?

There is too much money in this market being lost. If I were the governor, I'd block the Chargers from leaving SD, block the Raiders from leaving Oakland, get the Rams back in LA and then go after the Jags for OC and package them with the Ducks and Angels.

Plus, the OC Jags is a wildly popular title already... well at least in LA, SD and the IE.
