Apparently Kelly wouldn't even be considered by Haden anyways because of his previous NCAA troubles. Haden wants someone that hasn't been in any kind of trouble before.

Even though Sark wasn't "in trouble" he was part of the regime that was responsible for the current sanctions. I think Haden goes in a different direction.

Hmmmm, interesting theory. If they're throwing in the towel on the season, and Tressel has to sit 5 games...that would be a sneaky way to get him back in the game since no other program is probably going to touch him during that 5 year show clause. I don't think USC would do it personally. Not that you need a great recruiter at USC, but Tressel is a guy that does better picking up local talent mostly. He was known for locking down all the good talent in Ohio and not a whole lot outside it. Tressel doesn't run a sexy offensive program either. I'm not sure USC alums would like "Tressel ball."

I highly doubt it they will either, but if I'm a USC fan, I'm begging for this to happen.

I hope not. Tressel coaches pretty good defense, and his running game can wear you down. Plus...can you imagine how long and tedious a game against that kind of USC team would be? We're slow enough and eat up enough clock as it is (Or we were when we were running the ball better). If we faced a USC team that was built by Tressel...each team might get 1...maybe 2 possessions each quarter

Pat Haden just denied on colin cowerd that he met with Jack Del Rio or anyone else for that matter.

Then it must be true.

Haden hasn't talked to anyone, but you can be sure he's had some law firm put feelers out for him.

Yeah, the AD doesn't talk to a coaching candidate anymore until they are completely vetted.

Orgeron will play to the media and has always been a good recruiter...we'll see how he does on the field.

I feel a repeat of 2011 coming on. A struggling USC team comes to South Bend and is awakened and reinvigorated, playing their best game of the year against our Irish and pulling off a win during thee most important recruiting weekend of the year. Blah...

This is why I do not like them reinvigorated. We have enough trouble getting out of our own way, now they are going to come in here amped up and playing as hard as they can for their new coach. QB play will end up being the deciding factor on both sides.

Dan Patrick mentioned that Pep Hamilton is on the list of those seriously being considered. The question is, what does he like better; being the HC at a major NCAA program or the OC for a top NFL team with Andrew Luck just starting his second year in the NFL? Of course there is also the money factor. I don't have a clue how much the Colts are paying him.

Per Adam Gorney landed a commitment tonight.

Not sure who. They offered a Boise State commitment earlier so that is a possibility

EDIT: it's Uchenna Nwosu

just remember he doesn't necessarily get a scholarship if the new coach in doesn't want him

This is a good point. What I find interesting is this offer was extended after Kiffin was fired. It appears Haden has asked the staff to proceed with recruiting as if nothing happened.

with that said due to Ed O's huge ties to recruiting i would say that he has a really good chance of being re-hired by whomever they decide to go with to replace Kiffy Boy

Well, I always seem to hear that schools like to tell their athletes that they sign with the school, not the coach (in the case of a coach leaving for another job). Shouldn't the reverse be true here?

In a perfectly moral and honorable world, absolutely. However, recruiting is not that world. There are way too many to list examples of new coaches not honoring offers/commitments. The most recent that I remember is what Tuberville did when he took over at Cincy last December.

Or Kiffin at Tennessee for that matter.

I agree ... kind of like Alford when Kelly took over ND.
