he does have potential...;)

I thought Kiffen actually did a good job finding time in big moments for Agholor, even though Woods, Lee and Farmar were ahead of him. He's not going to be Robert Woods right away, but Agholor is freaky fast.

we were talking about Farmer....but yes Nelson did get some chances to shine...too damn bad it wasn't in a blue and gold uni.....he will a breakout player this year...w/ woods gone and lee being the target he will just fill in at lee's role of last year where everyone was targeting woods and lee abusing people

maybe i am in the minority and i don't wish injury...BUT if anyone is going to get injured i would love for it to be USC players....they knew what they were signing up for or should i say w/ who

I don't weep for USC because F them. I do not, however, "love" any kid to get injured regardless of chosen school.

I'm sure it's hard to replace a guy like Robert Woods, but with Lee still around and N. Agholor the number 2 is the loss of Farmer that big of a deal. I know he was highly touted coming out of highschool and U$C depth chart is a big issue but has Farmer done much yet to make his injury a big loss?

Its the depth though. You can't expect them to play the entire game, and now if one of them gets hurt... We might not have 5 star guys at WR but atleast we have a lot of them. :)

There an awful lot of factors when it comes to injuries... but obviously, most are just unavoidable bad luck/attrition.

Looking only at season ending injuries that land someone on IR, NFL teams typically average around ~13 season ending injuries a year... or about 0.8 season ending injuries per game (obviously, a large chunk happen in practice, etc. but this is a good barometer for general attrition per season length).

If you were to break that out into a per-play injury chance for each player on the field you're looking at a (VERY roughly) .006 big time injuries per play... or a 0.03% per player chance of getting injured in a play or live "rep". This number is actually probably lower because I have no idea how many full contact practice reps a player takes in a week and how often those lead to injuries... but it's a good start.

Some positions (like RB) simply have more injuries than other positions. Some injuries are freak accidents, some (like concussions) have a high correlation to the position you play. When you extrapolate this to the college game, you can basically expect somewhere in the vicinity of ~7-10 players per year missing big chunks of time (or the season) to injury.

So I don't think USC is much higher than the norm in the grand scheme of things. They just seem bigger because they're already short 10 players and most of their guys have big names from recruiting.

If this whole football thing doesn't work, he'll always have a future at Jimmy John's.

along with ND, USC is mentioned for anything on espn; which just alerts us to more injuries that have occurred than other teams

The Trojans entered the Thursday practice session with 20 players out of action because of injury and two more left practice – Torin Harris and Cyrus Hobbi.

Those are both huge injuries if serious. Harris is the most experienced CB that USC has.

Actually, not really Lax, in a way. It hurts with depth, but not on the field. Torin Harris sucks, experience and all. USC fans generally can't stand to see him on the field. And now that they are playing much more man, he's been getting burned in practice. And Hobbi, since playing vs. Stanford for an injured Khaled Holmes and getting absolutely abused, has slid further and further down the depth chart. They tried Turk at center and now Marcus Martin is the starting center.

Put it this way...as ND fans, we would be happy to see those two on the field this year vs. our Irish.

Huh. Good to know. I thought Harris was a lock to be a starter.

This is the official USC twitter to.

@USC_Athletics: USC will be without 20 injured players for Saturday's Spring Game. The depth issues are so bad that Lane Kiffin played RB in practice today.

reminds me of that scene in We Are Marshall when good old Red and Coach Lyengal have to play scout team Oline as they have no backups lol

How is it possible they are short on RB?! All they recruited for Kiffin's first two years were offensive skill players!

They're actually fine at RB. They have some injuries is all. Silas Redd is their #1, with EE Justin Davis impressing big time and he'll definitely play. Then you have Tre Madden who is coming off a major knee injury but he played today's game. You also have DJ Morgan (injured) and Buck Allen who had a very good spring. And finally you have Ty Isaac coming this summer.

So they'll have numbers there, if they can stay healthy...

Then why is Kiffin playing there? is Redd moving to OL?

How is their interior play (OL, DL)? I know they will always have a good running back and good receivers, it's their lack of interior depth that seems to hurt them

DL should be pretty darn solid. OL might totally suck.

^good thing they completely blew it this past recruiting cycle with the D-line commits or else it would have been far better in the near future.
