Small update to remove Mokwuah (woo!!) and add a note about Yeargin. Still 4-5 spots left because of the Yeargin defection. ND is probably running at 30%-50% for all of the remaining "realistic" prospects (McKenzie, Cage, Sawyers, Alexander, Quick). Odds say that we should probably land at least 2 of them. Will take some good luck to land 4-5.

I'll try to change the subject back to ND with Lax here. Lol

What's everybody's thoughts on what we do if we get near signing day and we are only going to realistically land two more guys (totally possible)?

Not field a full roster again and try again next cycle? Sign some "bodies"?

I wouldn't sign bodies. I think you recruit the hell out of kids you really like, and if you don't land them, it's a spot for next year.

2015 is shaping up to be a really small class with all the potential 5th years, so if worst case scenario we only get 1 or 2 more guys it will help us get a bigger class in '15.

I think if we are at 83 or so scholarships, I would like to give scholarships to two senior walk-ons who have helped on special teams and/or are great on the scout team / in the locker room.

Sorry of this has been discussed and I missed it, but with Yeargin out now, does the staff have plans to try and snag another LB to replace him or just stick with pursuing the guys they are going hard after now?

I think Lax is probably right in that we likely only sign two more. I'd expect those two to be Cage and Alexander. An interesting take would be to get Sawyers as well, but that's all up to the staff and how they feel numbers wise.

Just what my intuition tells me. It would be nothing short of a miracle to pull Juju (at least in my eyes). And I think Quick and McKenzie don't come because of similar reasons.

Wiltfong and Sampson both think we are good at LB, and we will just pursue the guys we are already after.

I'd be shocked if they did. And I'd argue that losing a LB in this class could be a good thing down the road, although I would have preferred it not be Yeargin.

We have Skyes, Morgan, Hill, Martini who are for sure LBs in this class.

Add to that, Tranquill, Williams, and even Trumbetti could play some form of LB, at least for a year or two.

Question...where do walk ons figure into roster? 85 is scholarship number...is there a total number that is different? Are walk ons unlimited? Just curious

It's 85 scholarships, and since walk ons don't have scholarships, they don't count towards that number.

Any kids that want to decommit and come to ND to replace Hill and Yeargin? Pete, thank you, anyone else?

So Hill might decommit too? Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that be three 3* decommits? I know it's not all about stars and ratings, but damn, there are a lot more guys in this class that would have me freaked out over losing.

When Hill goes to Texas it'll make Yeargin no longer a luxury. Not the end of the world, but not quite sure who plays SAM now in this class. Hill was going to be a heck of a ball player.

Literally everything that can go wrong is going wrong right now to close the cycle. The worst thing is that Strong will pitch the "we really love you and the last staff was crazy!" when really he is a backup plan for them.

It's alright man. We're in a transitional year with a new DC. Next year at this time BVG will have long established relationships with his class where these things won't be as commonplace. Hopefully better prospects, too. And again, there are several other current commits we have that I wouldn't trade for any of the guys we lost. All good.

I hope Kolin makes the right choice. Stay with the team that believed in you and gave you a chance, not the team that is just now realizing how much potential you have.

I remember when Kyle Allen (qb and TAMU committ) was going to visit in the summer and we were thinking this might be a A+ class. Unfortunately, the chips just didn't fall our way this year. Move onto next year

Moving on to the next yr seems to be a yearly confirmation.....

I agree. Our classes under BK have always been good, so I don't want to sound negative, but this years class certainly isn't what we thought it could have been.

Are you guys not happy with a top 10 class, that has the possibility to be a top 5 ?

This won't be a top ten class. Don't know what would make you think it is.

That being said, we're not even saying that we aren't happy with the class. It's a well rounded class that pairs well with the last two cycles. But it clearly lacks star power and is far from as good as we thought it was going to be 6 months ago.

If I've learned anything about following recruiting....besides that it isn't good for my blood pressure is that you can't count on anything until signing day. I mean that as much for good things to happen as much as I do the bad. The bad always leaves much more of a memory, but we easily forget about some of the good last minute surprises, all I'm saying is it ain't over til NSD.

Do you have anyone in mind? There isnt any realistic recruit that could pop for us on NSD that would blow my socks off. This class feels like my usual classes in NCAA, i get all excited towards the end for 3 star prospects bc im not even in contention for 5 star guys. Dont get me wrong ill take this class all day over classes from years past (Im lookin at you Ty) But i think we can all agree there isnt a Jaylon in this bunch.

Quick is a realistic recruit that could pop for us on NSD. So is Terrence Alexander, if he doesn't decide soon. So is Saywers. So is McKenzie.

Come on guys, the world isn't ending here. It is not even for sure that Hill is taking that visit yet. Let BK have his in home, and we will see what happens from there.

If we keep Hill, get one more DT, Alexander and a WR - to me that is a top ten class in the country easily.
