I think Bishop actually has it right. It's all wrong and all terrible. Even if it's done by people who hate Trump.

Look, I know I’m running hot right now but I live here. This is truly insane, and it’s just not close to what we experienced over the summer. BLM protests were big and I criticized property destruction on here repeatedly at the time. I also have repeatedly gone after ANTIFA on here for being awful people.

But this is on a whole different level. And if people can’t see that, then there’s nothing I can say to change their mind. That means we’re living in completely different realities.

Break a window and steal an XBox

Overthrow the government.

Comme ci, comme ça.

Why leave out the part about burning police stations, burning large swaths of downtown areas in cities, looting entire shopping districts, assaulting and even murdering average citizens attempting to protect their business, throwing Molotov cocktails, dragging people from their cars and beating them, destroying cemeteries and monuments, or attempting to overrun federal buildings? You describe all that as just breaking a window to steal an XBox? Do you see why so many of us roll our eyes at the hypocrisy and willful dishonesty? Lax describes all that as just property damage and you call it breaking a window to steal an XBox.

Lax, take a deep breath. Nothing said on here by you, me or anyone else is going to change any of it. I realize you're upset and 100% convinced that this is totally worse than the BLM and Antifa stuff - and that's your right - but for many of us, it's not. We believe this is just another group of dipshits acting like fools, just like the BLM and Antifa dipshits acting like fools, and no more of a real threat to society and our nation that they were. Opinions differ and what grinds each of us' gears differ. Don't overreact, my friend.

Do you understand what a coup is?

Do you understand that a mob of insurrectionists seized the Capitol Building — with the expressed intent to install someone as President — and that they had to be removed by law enforcement and the National Guard? If so, what would you call it if a foreign adversary seized and occupied the Capitol? Or a group like the KKK? Because these people were waving a lot of flags that weren’t of the United States of America...

What we saw today was anarchy and lawlessness. The same thing that these people have watched on TV over the entire spring and summer and glamorized. Why should they act any different?

Let me help you out.

Eeeeeeverything that happened during protests last year.

Eeeeeeverything that has happened during civil protests of previous years in our country. Michael Brown/Ferguson. Rodney King. Watts. And on and on.

None of them are on the same level as what happened today. None. None of them ever resulted in the protesters taking over the US Capitol with the intent of overthrowing the US government.

Do you have any further questions?

The Senate has resumed and its restoring my faith in America a little bit. Some good speeches by Republicans and Democrats alike. Ben Sasse killed it... he is great. Hope he runs in 2024.

Sorry, you're simply wrong. You're entitled to believe that, but you're still wrong. Minimizing all the protests and rioting and violence and destruction and assaults against our society and institutions doesn't make them minimal. They were just as deadly and just as much a threat. That they came from your side doesn't make them OK.

I can tell you are correct by all the examples of the US Capitol being taken over by armed insurrectionists.

Pence’s opening speech was solid. Never mentioned Trump which said volumes with the omission. McConnel’s wasn’t bad, but Schumer lost me When he compared this to Pearl Harbor.

But how is that any worse or any more of a danger to us than the takeover of multiple police stations, the assault on a federal courthouse, the very real attempt to simply shut down police forces in several areas, or the destruction of real people's homes & businesses? Of course it's "different." EVERY event is different. It's not worse or more dangerous, though. Today, as bad as it was, wasn't really a coup attempt. Let's be real. A few buffoons are not toppling a government of this size and were never a remote threat to do so. There was ZERO chance of them stopping the transfer of power. They were angry, frustrated fools acting out. The BLM and Antifa riots were orders of magnitude more destructive, caused several deaths, were MUCH more disruptive in both magnitude and length of time, and did far more damage to the institutions of government and society. I'm not defending the idiots today. I'm 100% condemning them, but this was over in a matter of hours and did a tiny fraction of the damage we've seen from the radical Left this past year.

Nice of them to wake up. They've not helped the situation in this country. I've had to listen to the Georgia Senatorial commercials for the last 6 weeks and they were disgusting, overall. To be honest, Kelly Leoffler's were the worst. When you continually paint the other side as radicals and an enemy to the country, it's no wonder citizens start looking at their fellow Americans truly as an enemy. Hopefully this attitude by our representatives will last longer than 3 days.

I think part of the problem is that many of us felt this outrage 6 months ago. And it happened day after day, week after week and month after month. We were outraged, indignant and incredulous that this was happening. We wanted everyone to be just as angry.

Eventually, we just threw our hands up, shrugged and said 'screw it. Nobody else cares, why should we? Get a gun and protect your home and family'.

Now this happens and because it's Trump supporters disrupting a Democrat having his day, some of you are outraged. And you are outraged that WE aren't outraged. We are. And we are sad. But it's not fresh to us. We are numb to it. We are jaded.

What's another riot or protest or coup or insurrection or whatever you want to call it?

Fuck Trump and his remaining supporters.
Anyone who brings up other BLM and looting riots and thinks this is the same... Can simply rot in hell.

This clown is good for free entertainment most of the time, but mods on this? Anyone? No place at IE for this garbage.

Are you advocating this level of violence and insurrection today at the Capitol on the encouragement of the President?

Watched it and agree on Ben Sasse. Had to look him up. He spoke very well and had an interesting "history" with Trump over the past five years.

Have you read any of my posts tonight, Legacy? I've very clearly, strongly, and unambiguously condemned today's actions multiple times, including in the post you just quoted.

At some point, doesn't it occur to you to say to yourself, "Hmm, being a smartass isn't working out here?" You're sliding into Arahop territory for lack of wit and maturity. I have to admit though, the "ma'am" thing was just crushing. Touché!

I have every one of your posts. I am glad that you have clarified your position in this post, which was a concern of mine.

Your statement:

seemed to provide some excuse for the anarchy that invade our government today. This falls directly on Donald Trump's lap and his actions have been like no President. The social media entities that have banned him are quite right in depriving him a voice that contributes to insurrection.

Come on Lax. This reads like a mad kid wrote it. You described the looting, assaults, burning of police stations, attempted takeovers of federal buildings as "property damage" then got mad when I roasted you and went to the "from Alabama" and "supports the Confederate flag" thing. That's weak. You're a mod here and an adult. Be bigger and better than that sort of personal stuff.

You've roasted yourself. We get it. BLM and police stations those are local level crimes not national security.
You're weak . You got too much trump and right up your ass

Proud of Pence's and McConnell's speeches.
Pence delivered with more true emotion than we've seen in 4 years.
And props to him. He had the hardest Vice Presidency Shit, maybe ever.
