Biden is going to be the president. But as RDU Irish previously stated, why not let this play out? Even if it doesn't change the results (highly unlikely), going through this process to cleanup irregularities shouldn't bother you one bit if you really want fair elections. Someone please explain to me why this is a bad thing.

If the view is we can't vet an election due to COVID then we probably should have just postponed it until the coast was clear. If we were talking Obama instead of Trump in the WH you could 150% guarantee that would have been the company line.

What is it exactly that you are expecting to "play out?"

Just yesterday the DHS released a statement: "The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history." Trump's lawyers are quite literally being laughed out of court with their challenges and accusations. What are these expectations that everyone has to wait on before Trump concedes?

No, Trump is doing this for 2 very simple and obvious reasons.

1) It keeps his base fired up for the GA run-offs and in general stokes the flames of distrust around American institutions for no other reason than keep his base fired up. That's obviously working on several people in this thread.

2) He's taking donations for this "legal battle" with half of that money being siphoned to pay off his campaign debt. Funny thing, that.

I won't even try to convince anyone why 'people are worried' about why Trump's refusal to concede is bad for the government or why Trump's baseless conspiracy theories and disinformation is bad for the country. An overriding theme of this thread has been:

Poster 1 : "Wow, this thing in politics is controversial and probably really bad."

Poster 2: "What, no it's not lololol."

I just hope none of you are dumb enough to donate to Trump's legal battle.

In a sense, this isn't about Trump. He may be driving, but the bus doesn't belong to him. "What am I expecting to play out?" One of two things. The election was completed fair and square or there were irregularities that need to be cleaned up to prevent them from happening again. Those who voted for Biden should welcome this. Then when it's all over they have something to stand on. Either way, that's good for us.

The election was completed fair and square. This is the case from local, state, and federal officials from both Republican and Democrat officials and from judges all across the country.

Absolutely no one should 'welcome' Trump's absurd political theater of promoting a rigged election and do so under the guise of trying to clean up unproven allegations from happening again. That's utterly absurd.

Surely the whole “can’t fill a church” or has no “enthusiasm/rallies” talking point by conservatives is a troll job, right? Like, they understand the Biden campaign limited every event’s attendance because of social distancing measures, right? And that the guy who got over 78 million votes, the most in history, could have filled any place he wanted to if we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic. Yeah, after the spying prior to the last election, the bogus dossier, spreading false information about Trump being directly colluding with Russia, the stalemating and attempts not to legitimize the Presidency, fighting every cabinet and Supreme Court nomination, the media circus creating faux outrage on a daily basis, the silly impeachment attempt...there's a long list there. Lot of accusations and being told how things work when the facts aren't there to back it up. We were told for some time that Trump was on the way out because he was guilty of this, guilty of that, and the reality of it is the only event that could bring him down was a non-political issue...a pandemic, the likes of which comes once every 100 years.

No President was going to come out unscathed, Biden certainly wouldn't have. 60 million contracted Swine Flu while he was VP and holding the same role Pence has in regards to the pandemic team. If Swine Flu had been as deadly as Covid that would have been 2 million dead, not 200,000. Biden says he has a plan to defeat it, I hope it's better than his Swine Flu plan. The reality is his approach is little different than Trump's, they need the vaccine to become available so they can end it.

Key word is "substantial"... Dead people voting is a fact. There are plenty of allegations, and signed statements. Not saying they are enough to change anything. My point is that one party has chosen to make it hard to monitor/manage. One party has made it almost impossible to prove. So when something is proven under those conditions, logic would say there is more that is simply impossible or extremely hard to prove. It's not a stretch on logic in anyway.

On the topic of general voter fraud, there are plenty of proven and prosecuted cases in the last 10 years. One side says fraud is a myth, but when pointed to those, they shrug it off and say well that's not much comparatively. When the system is designed to make fraud easy, yet incredibly hard to monitor and prove fraud, it's not surprising we don't have more prosecuted case. But it's also not a stretch to think there is a lot more going on. History shows us that it's gone on for a very long time. People just didn't stop, especially when rules don't exactly make it difficult.

It's not just all about state legislatures, or state legislatures in those states. Anyone sending mass ballots out pretty much eliminates ID and sig validation. How does the GOP having control of the legislature in GA prevent dead people voting via ballot? Yes, I know 2 on the list were confirmed alive, but 2 or more have also been confirmed dead. Hell I got ballots for the prior residents of the home I own. I still get VA stuff for the old man, and he's been dead for years now. The legislature in PA didn't OK the extension/deadline, the court did (which was just struck down).
